Im just curious because my local game store rebuffs discs and I was wondering if this may have any long term effects on my machine. Also I have a copy of Tony Hawk project 8 I got used which has a circular scratch on it that I want to get rebuffed. So is rebuffing bad?

i rebuffed a 360 game that had been constantly freezing and wouldn't load in certain areas, now it works perfeclty. As far is it hurting the system of course it wouldn't, all that rebuffing does is takes out the scratches and reshines the game's surface so the lazer reads it better

A rebuffed disc is perfectly safe. Guitarplayer hit the nail on the head.
