I will need to update to Vista soon anyway and was wondering if the media connection is even worth it. Does it work like a DVR box or what?

i love mine, it works pretty much just like a tivo or dvr. Plus it will play any movies on your PC that are WMV. I would like to see what the difference will be between this and the service that they will have soon for the black 360.

I waited on buying my new laptop until Vista came out JUST so I just use Media Center. Its pretty nifty.

Yeah, the major news in the whole IPTV thing is like, um... don't they already have something similar. I think that is an expansion on this. Do you know if the WMV are on an HD format? I get alot of movies from Netflix and if I could just copy and store it on my computer to get the turnaround time faster, that would be great. I also have Comcast Digital Cable, I assume you can record through that but I would have to run a cord from that to my computer?

So, you can do DVR with a 360 or is it just taking a MCE computer and puting it on your tv via a 360?
I want to be able to do DVR on a 360 by itself.

It's just taking the recorded shows etc... from your computer.
Its worth it for sure, the only TV i watch is what i record and because I don't have a remote for my pc, linking it to the 360 is worth that part alone.

the 360 is NOT a DVR itself.....i think people are using their PC's as DVRs and then streaming the recorded shows to the 360 to watch on their tv.......the 360 WILL be a DVR once IPTV is launched.....thus the new 120g HDD for storing IPTV content...but IPTV will require a monthly subscription fee

Well... don't have to worry about getting the updated 360. I guess I'll have to get Snapstream working via my Adaptec Gamebridge.

 Ghey... and why I have no problems getting my TV shows via Torrents. For those of you with a problem with that, what do VCRs do? hmm... yeah.

Is there any difference between the XP Media Center and the Vista Media Center, as far as Xbox 360 features? Right now, I use my MC laptop with my 360. I have a copy of Vista Home Premium that I got as a free upgrade from Dell, but I'm kind of leery about installing it. My laptop is working so well! :)

it just looks nicer from everything I have read/seen also if you have the original xbox media center extender (which I want so if you are reading this and have one give me a PM) it will not work with vista but the 360 will, the 360 is the only media center extender that works with vista as of right now.

I have XM Radio Online, I can stream that to the 360? Seems pretty cool though. If I say put a season of the Simpsons from my DVD on to my computer. Can I save that on to an external harddrive, would that effect the streaming? I hate popping in dvd after dvd for a season if I am on a role.

I believe you would just have to set up the MC PC to search the external HD for the files, you can't really do that from the 360s end.
