Preordered it also. Can't wait. Though I'm kinda lazy and should cancel it to get it at Circuit City, but I probably won't. Hope they get it tomorrow.

Circuit City has the regular version for $39.99, and the LE for $49.99... no reason to give your money to anyone else, unless you have no Circuit City anywhere near you, and for you, I shed a tear.

It doesn't take much ingenuity to price match the CC ad either... which is what I'm doing even though I have a CC right next to me.

Well.. I am in the same boat as you.
I pre-ordered the 60 dollar "Kane" edition from EB... CC has it for 50, to be released at 5pm on Tuesday. Best buy has it at 2pm on Tuesday for 60. I don't get out of work til 3pm, but then I have to teach at another job at 4pm and don't get out til 5pm and won't be able to get to CC til 5:30pm.
I have some options here.
1. Right after I get out of work at 3pm, head out to my near by BB, and try to price match it.
2. If they won't price match it until 5pm, then I will pay full price, THEN come back after 5pm and price match it at that time.
3. Call EB and see if they will price match CC's ad. I did put down a 15 dollar pre-order on it. Although I am paying 45+ tax now... It still would have been cheaper to buy it now then pre-ordering it.
4. Last resort is to go to CC after 5pm.. But towards the end just before I leave, order it online and hopefully be there in 24 minutes and hopefully they will have it ready for me other wise free gift card :P

That Kane edition is such a rip off too... and it won't be worth shit, because barely any PC games ever are.
I'm content to stick with the $40 regular edition.
EB dosen't PM ads, and Best Buy won't even look at the 5 pm stipulation, they never ever have for me, at multiple Best Buy's.
Though, that's what you get for preordering in the first place... espicially a computer game at EB.

I think the cover for the kane edition looks a lot better then the normal one. Like I said long ago about company's and pre-orders, well I don't care for the extra skins and I felt really jipped when I bought the collector's edition of SW:EAW. I might just cancel my pre-order tonight. I do like the making of dvd's though. It's too bad we didn't get a soundtrack like CNC2 had when it came out.

I guess, only the LE is really truly something special, I'd rather just put that $10 towards another game.
I'm kind of disappointed this one is so blah.

When I preordered my copy they didn't take my phone number and when I ask about it, they said they no longer are allowed to take people's phone numbers.
The Kane edition does seem very bland, I was thinking of canceling my preorder and just buying the regular edition at CC to save 20 dollars, but I don't want to deal with calling around town and trying to price match and end up having to go to EB anyways and waste all that time and gas.

It's kind of funny, I really wasn't paying too much attention to this game until about 3 days ago. Then I finally slapped myself, in the process realizing that C & C is shit I grew up on and one of my favorite game franchises ever. So now that I have seen the early positive reviews I am going to be picking this up a CC this week. This actually worked out great because I really didn't hype this up at all and now instead of having to wait the usual 6-9 months for its release I can go pick it up this week W00T!!!!!

Well Roufuss my friend, I was able to price match the Kane Edition at BB using the CC 5pm ad. I had less then 1 hour to get my copy but it wasn't on the shelf even though the BB ad said out by 2pm! Tags were up for it but they said it was on the truck. Luckily the employee dug around and FOUND the Kane Edition :) Then I took it to CS and bam got it PM. Dispite what other people say, PMing at EB is a YMMV thing :( I thought they were going to give me a hard time when I was asking for a refund on my pre-order but everything was fine.
I am installing it now. I'll check in within a few hours :)

+Graphics... but it looks like a bit of a step up from Generals
+FMV...awesome quality!
+Interface
+Missions
-Slow downs :(
-pixelated/blocky shadows (I've seen the same thing in ST: Legacy, so it might be related to my 6800 gt drivers)
-Having to REBOOT my computer after I play it as it corrupts any other video I play outside of the game :GRRR:
-Music is so so, I miss Frank's music.
-No Music soundtrack CD

Yea I picked the Kane Edition up at Best Buy, father paid for it since I just gave him both As in my college courses!^^ I love the game, I also miss the great music but the game is fast, I mean not too fast but just right for me. My FMVs are not synced up but it appears everyone is having this problem. The readme says the Radeon 9000 cards have the problem, I've got the 256mb 9800 Pro go figure. Also they just released the first patch whcih I grabed in hope to fix the FMV problem but then 3/4 done downloading it it gives me an error saying I moddified the game. Others have gotten this error as well! Ah fuck man I love the game and you're screwin a fan here! My specs:
P4 2.0Ghz (Dell GX 240 about 4 or 5 yrs old now but I upgraded the hell out of it)
Windows XP
Radeon 9800 Pro
Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS Gamer
1 gig of ram
Well I'm trolling the C&C3 help forums but luckily I can play the game at least just no Full Motion cutscenes synced up and no patching atm.

well it would seem either the auto update installer is having problems, or people are hammering the site causing a slow down/lock up of it. I would simply cancel it or terminate it, then start it up again. Worked like a charm.

I picked up the game at Best Buy earlier today (w/CC price match; I wasn't going back out there at 5 to pick it up). So far, I'm enjoying it a lot, even if it doesn't seem to be that massive of an upgrade over C&C: Generals.
If anyone is thinking about getting it and wondering about performance, I'm running it with all the settings on high with the following specs:
Windows XP:
- 3.4GHz Pentium 4 (w/HT)
- 2 GB DDR2 Ram
- nVidia 7600 GT

I think there are more upgrades in terms of graphics compared to Generals than most people may notice. If you have the right card, the shaders and textures can be quite a nice subtle upgrade. That said, this game provides quite a decent array of options to increase performance (if needed), and turning some settings down can also increase visibility, etc if you are hardcore into MP.
I wasn't a big fan of Generals/BFME, but I was a huge fan of the original C&C. (I recently found my mint condition C&C1 receipt from Egghead Software in 1995 for $49.98 or something - got all nostalgic!) Though this is largely the same engine/ui/etc as Generals/BFME, the way they have "C&C-Tiberian-ized" it makes it feel a helluva lot better for fans of the original series, imo. I was happily surprised how good it felt.
It is a shame they didn't get Frank onboard for this one for the music; I feel there may have been something personal over that also - I believe he isn't credited at all in the First Decade credits. Oh well, check out his latest solo album! :) That would have made this just spectacular for a return to the series, but the provided music does the job nonetheless.
Now we just need a Red Alert 3 =]]]

Oh yeah, that's what I meant. The BFME was built upon the Generals engine, though, as I recall.
Edit: That's right, it's called Sage, even though it's been heavily messed with since. Some interesting articles found with Google.

Well from what I can tell from the music, it sounds like the new composer take is an insperation of Bill's (Generals) and Franks (CNC) work. If ANYONE paid attention to the first GDI briefing video (Threat level low), you can hear Frank's music from the CNC2. I hope Frank is getting credit for that one.
As for RA3.... you know its going to happen. If things go well, we might see RA3 by late 2008!!

Its enjoyable with a couple of new things and tweaks to make it feel like a new game, but not really a full sequel. The videos are great, the story starts off strong but sort of tapers off towards the end (with GDI). I was expecting a lot more interplay between Michael Ironside and Billy dee Williams and possibly having to choose who to work for (same for NOD) but it only boils down one decision at the end.
Ive got the video sync problem too but it's only because Im running torrents in the background :) All in all though this is like seeing an old friend again whom you haven't seen in years. Oh btw as far as being a CAG goes, a friend of mine took the circuit city ad for the regular edition at $40 which apparently is quite vague, took the Kane edition to Fry's and the chick price matched it. Fry's is having a sale until the end of the month for $48.99 on the Kane Edition anyway so even without PM you save a few bucks.

The biggest thing was Generals was the first true 3d engine game for the C&C franchise and granted it went along a different story but I thought they did a good job. I usually play Zero Hour since it improves so much more on Generals and I have a mod manager to play 8 mods whenever I want to, its great. The C&C3 game is really new stuff, I mean they didn't even show the aliens in the original. How come everyone is saying this isn't anything new. I think they've done a great job adding features while holding true to C&C. I'm just glad the game goes fast, I hate playing BFME2 and just waiting for my units to cross the bloody map! The Kane Edition should have had some sweet music extras.

Well Auto update is borked on my end. Takes like 30 minutes to update then it locks up the last 25% of it. So I just basically go to the web site and manually download the patch.

and to the LAN question I believe you will need two seperate keys as BFMEII needed it and it also blew up your base 15 minutes in if you didn't buy the game or used someone else's key.

I think the EA servers are having problems this week. I have been lagging big time on 2142 or being kicked off the main EA server. Today I had this weird error saying that this game works best unmodded?!?!?!

Ha your funny, yea how come they had C&C3 at the Cyber Games. I play all C&C games for sweet LAN parties and yes the multiplayer is a big thing with C&C. Well for those who have been playing the game, remember all that Press talk about the red/blue/yellow zones and stuff and how red and yellow are dangerous? Well it would seem like after playing the GDI campaign it feels like an after thought. I expected to see Ion Storms, Tiberium blobs and other anomalies as seen in Tiberium Sun. What ever happened to the Tiberium Trees from the concept art? I was really hoping to see Red Zone missions and having to deal with Nod, Scrin, Mutants and Mutated creatures. Hopefully the expansion pack will take us to the red zones.
