Guild Wars 2
Since the game is essentially starting with a clean slate, Arena Net decided to make some pretty substantive changes to the game.

First, and most importantly though, the game will remain subscription free.

This time around the game will have a persistence world, one still set in Tyria, but now hundreds of years after the events that took place in the original Guild Wars.

"The big new feature is a persistent world," Strain said. "I think Guild Wars has some very radical departures from typical role-playng. One of those was the instancing model.

As each of the campaigns was released we took greater and greater pains to do that.
On the other hand, there are things we missed out on, like the more organic type of community building where you wandering through the area and hook-up with other people."

"In Guild Wars 2 we wanted to have the best of both worlds. We are retaining the strengths of instanced areas, but we are also integrating a persistenced world. We are not making a World of Warcraft clone here, we are not trying to do what other MMOs have done."

Kinda upsetting for me. They will not be allowing the transference of characters to the next game, but it sounds like you can keep titles and unlocked stuff, including armor. All that time spent in GW1 isn't going to help me in GW2 as far as ingame stuff goes, but at least its a 1 or two away. Beta in 2008.

Limitless leveling? Hmmm.

Probably something along the lines of.. after level 20 it simply adds to your level and gives you a skill point with no major differences between a level 20 and a level 300 except the number of skill points they have.

Guess it would have happened sooner or later. Always wondered how long they would go with expansions. GW2 will sell, but how will they support it in the long run?

So it is the same thing we have now EXCEPT that it adds a number to your level? Nah, I do not think it will as dramatic in later levels but it will be way different.

History has shown that ANET is loath to change anything concerning their system. While its still too early to comment about the system in GW 2, I cannot imagine them making too many drastic changes. They're still going to want to have that GW feel to it, and if leveling provides any benefit over others, they are directly going against their skill over playing time mantra.
