alot of games have a demo mode built in, though you have to use the game to play back videos.

Push the print screen key a bunch (or whatever the screen shot key for your game is) and compile the pictures into a .gif.

You can get the failure demo version with a watermark and 30 second time limit and horrible resolution. Thats free.
