Do you like the friend code system for the DS? The Wii's online system will be very similar to that of the DS, so if you don't like the DS's online system you won't like the Wii's online system. I asked an NOA rep why they went with the friend code system on the Wii despite the negativity it has received from the gaming media and fans and they said "because it works."

So...do you like the friend code system? Do you think it will work well on the Wii?

Oops! I did it again.

Do I like it? It's OK. It's serviceable, it's pretty easy. As that rep said, it works.

It has more flaws than its peers on other consoles, that's for damn sure.

So yeah, I'll enjoy it. I'm not going to refuse to play it simply because it has flaws.

even with this annoying system, there's no stopping me from nonstop brawl online anyway

I see nothing easy about their friend code system.

I'm a "don't care" leaning towards a "nay." So if I cared, I'd say nay. :D

No ONLY because it takes me 2 minutes to find a game of MK DS WORLDWIDE, what the fuck Nintendo 2 mins.

Yeah. I got Custom Robo Arena the other day and tried to find someone to play online. It took me seven minutes to find someone and they disconnected 20 seconds in.

I'm curious if anyone really has the guts or a thick enough flame shield to vote yay.

...c'mon, someone take one for the team :)

Wow its a land slide. I didn't think that is possible on the INTERNETS.

The person who voted Yay needs to post and defend their opinion.

Hate them. Numbers are impossible to remember. On XBL at least some gamer tags are simple and easy to remember, no 16 digit numbers are easy to remember.

But its more compounded by not having universal friends list and having new codes for every fucking game. I could deal if I just had to get and enter them once and that was it.

Thanks to these it'll probably just be random games for me... too damn lazy to try to put games together. Might as well get together with my friends instead. It wouldn't be that hard to make the games use the Wii's code or a friends list, would it?

I don't care either way. The system they have now works albeit entering a huge code can be a bother.

What they better have though is the ability to just click a button and add someone you just played against like in Halo.

I'm right in between "I don't care" and "Nay"

Separate friend codes for games may work decently for portable games, but it's not acceptable for consoles as ease of use should be the key, not multiple layers of security (Wii code is enough to cover that).

i would say "it works" but its not the best way to play online...

Nay. Anyone who's played on XBL knows that there are better systems out there.

Times like this I really wish I had a screencap from Disgaea of the entire Dark Assembly shouting NAY!

Each game you buy generates a random friend code for you. You get your friend code by going online (the first time). Once you get your friend code, you can share your friend codes with others to play them online. The bad thing however is that you both need to share friend codes with each other to become "friends" (so you can play against each other). Friend codes are long (DS games are 12 digits IIRC). It is also almost impossible to share codes against people you play online (as there is no lobby system and you can't just add people as your friend).

For DS it was something I could deal with. I think it was a mistake by Nintendo to use this system on the Wii.

I voted that I don't care. Personally I don't play online except a random game on the DS every once in awhile. But I could understand not liking it if you play online a lot.
