I am buying a new 80 gig ipod for a trip down to florida (from CT) by car. I don't have a line in so I am thinking of going with a FM transmitter. Do these work well? If so which one do you reccomend?

Ehh, I had 2 different ones and hated them both. The problems with the FM transmitters is that if you're using them in a heavily populated area, you'll get a lot of interference and won't be able to hold a strong signal.

It'd seem as soon as I found a good frequency to dial into, I'd loose it a couple minutes latter. And you don't really want to be messing around with this while driving around.

You're best bet would be getting a cassette adapter (if you have a tape deck in your car).

If you can get a tape adapter you'll get WAY better quality sound from that. I also tried 2 different FM transmitters and they didn't work very well. If you have a newer car, maybe you can plug right into the deck.

ya, if you are in more heavily populated areas there may be interference. I just listen to podcasts in the car so I don't need the best audio quality. Driving in San Francisco it usually gets very little interference. I have this one from monoprice. It has worked great for me. You can't change it to exact stations you want, it has preset ones. For around $16 shipped, it has been awesome!
