View Full Version : 75% off N64 and PS1 Games @ EB/GS

The old B1G1 sale appears to be over and is being replaced with a 75% off sale; plus the 10% off for your Game Informer card comes off the original (and the the dicounted price), makes the deal closer to 85% off. It also appears that the old N64 and PS1 games are being consolidated in select stores, so many stores will not have any games and some will have a ridiculous amount. YMMV and good luck.

Now if only 98% of us actually had a damn GameStop that still carried these games and actual good ones. >:|
It's the bimonthly GS sale on PS1/N64 games that you will never see.
RIP EBgames.
Thanks for posting, bsschorr. I would have missed this in the other thread.

Yeah, I remember when Gamestop ate Funcoland, I thought to myself "At least there's still EBgames!"
Now at least there's...GameCrazy? I guess?
Still, it's an excuse for me to pick up a copy of Persona 2 at my local store.

My bad, I totally missed it in the other post; sorry about that. I got some pretty good deals at my local EB with this deal:
Diddy Kong Racing $1.50
Starcraft 64 $4
Tetrisphere $2
Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time $1.50

Well I bought some games as buy 1 get 1 like 3 weeks ago at two different stores. I might call them up tomorrow and make sure it isn't 75% off now, cause I'd go back for a $5 Breath of Fire III disc :)

The only Gamestop store near me with these games is about 30-40 miles away. And, I was down that way for a day trip the other day(to stop at the only 'local' Gamecrazy, which didn't have squat I wanted) and checked the game selection. The only halfway decent title out of the whole rack was BOF IV, but it looked like someone used it in place of their skateboard on rough pavement.
Aside from that one title, there were assloads of games that were missing either the instruction manual, the case insert or both on the PS1 games. There were 2 shelves full of disc only games in those Funcolandish disc sleeves.
All the N64 games were in cardboard boxes on the floor.
If anyone local to me wants to know WHICH Gamestop store it was, it was the one near the WalMart by The Laurel Mall in Hazleton, PA. I don't remember the shopping plaza name, so you're on your own for that.

Yea, this deal is technically good but sucks on execution.
I ended up going to 2 EBGames and 2 Gamestops in the past few days and it was downright depressing. One EB is about 25 miles from me and always had great stock on N64 and PS1, being the new regional center for em basically. I went, turns out an employee looted anything and everything (including a Valkyrie Profile). I came away with Hybrid Heaven, Pokemon Snap, WCW/NWO Revenge, and Extreme-G 2 for N64 and copies of Mega Man X5 and BLood Omen: Legacy of Kain for PS1 totalling about $5.
Went to the Gamestop inside the mall right next to my house then. All PS1 titles were in paper sleeves, no manuals, no cases. The N64 titles were in a cardboard box on the ground and nothing of interest in it that I saw.
The third store was about 10 miles out. Again, no good N64 stuff and PS1 titles in paper sleeves, with no cases or manuals.
The fourth place I wouldn't have gone to but happened to be in the area anyways. They had no N64 or PS1 titles.
I might try calling some places tomorrow north of me but this deal overall sucks due to the way PS1/N64 stock has been handled by Gamestop in the last year.

Thanks verrryy much for the post, i went down to the Gamestop at Palmhurst, Texas. Classic gamer paradise, went out with 91 games, paid like 100 bucks for them, and still left behind copies of chronno cross, rhapsody, vagrant story breath fo fire 4 and a few others. My receipt is like 6 foot long (seriously)
Plus, the best gamestop staff ever (super helpfull), finally was able to have a great deal at a gamestop store.

Meh, I got a crap load of games, but most of them are going up for trade fodder elsewhere.
Of my highlights though, I was able to snatch a few good titles, namely:
1.) Zelda: Ocarina of Time ($1.50, original release not gold cartridge though)
2.) Thunder Force V (disc only though)
3.) Diddy Kong Racing
4.) F-Zero 64
5.) Tom and Jerry: Fists of Furry (I know it isn't the most desired game, but it does hold some value for being hard to find)
6.) Excite Bike 64
Oh, and the best for last: I snagged a copy of (!!!) Superman 64 and even more (!!!) Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker ( :) I got them just for the novelty of having the worst N64 games).
So ya, my score wasn't huge, but I got some decent stuff for not alotta money.

95% off? Sale plus edge card plus gameinformer coupon?
sorry to nitpick, but 75% off plus 10% off plus another 10% doesn't equal 95% off because the discounts are taken one at a time. it amounts to ~80% off.
with just the edge card it is ~82% off.

I called the GS's in my area, and there was only one that had PS1 games.(Only BoF IV and Rhapsody) The guy said, that they were still ringing up at $30 a piece. Now....the question is, should I believe him?
I think this deal is pretty much DOA, all anyone seems to be able to score is the above stated BoF IV and Rhapsody. All of these games were picked up either at retail price, or during the buy one get one sale.

The games will still ring up at full price, but once the employee hits the total button (F12 or something) the discount will apply, often giving the employee a very confused look if they didn't know about the sale.

Yes. Rhino is included in this sale, but call first because where I live several of the EB/GS stores sent their entire inventory to a single Rhino store.
Found a Gamestop with a fantastic selection of N64 games they want to get rid of their ps1 and n64 titles the employees even gave me a little extra off on top of the 85% off! I scored Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time $1.39, Hey you Pikachu with Microphone $1.25, Dr Mario 64 $3.47, Banjo Tooie $1.81, Banjo Kazooie $0.97, Resident Evil 2 $1.39, WWF No Mercy $0.70, Super Smash Bros. $2.08 I also bought a complete non PH xbox Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow with a 12 month XBox Live subscription $4.88!
At a different gamestop I found Super Mario 64 $2.25, Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask $1.95, Pokemon Stadium 2 $1.95, Pokemon Puzzle League $1.95, mega Man X6 disc only $1.20, Namco Museum volume 3 disc only $.0.75, RE director's cut disc only $1.35, Dino Crisis 2 disc only $0.75 this store did not give me a extra discount on top of the 85% off. Astounding sale thanks CAG

Greenville SC area CAGs: Don't bother with the (former) Rhino in Taylors. They have tons of N64/PSX games but somebody's been through them with a fine tooth comb. Costa Mesa, CA location on Harbor and Wilson has N64 games. I checked them out and there's nothing that I want, but they've got some stuff worth noting. The most expensive games they had were Dr. Mario 64, Starcraft 64, and Worms Armageddon, all at $25. Many a sports game, but other good ones such as Blast Corps and Rogue Squadron were making an appearance.

And you don't think that finding a bunch of games that normally cost $30 and saying you bought them for $2-5 is something people would do? I live in a state where people's hobbies include guns and distant cousins, and not even I can find these games. So I normally think people are lying when I hear about populous towns with tons of these rare games.
You could all very well have them, but I think the odds are greater that you don't.

I also saw a few copies (along with madden, etc.) of Cruisin' USA, some Elmo game, Army Men Sarge's Heroes, Space Invaders, and the infamous Superman.

Hm, here's another thread. Hopefully I'll get as lucky as I was when the local GS resupplies the PS1 lot.
Below is my haul (posted in another thread):
I got a moderately good haul from about 6 GS/EB, costing about $30ish after all discounts. Each store reported one guy buying out HUNDREDS of titles of titles at a time. One store said one person returned 4 times in one day! I guess that's where all the hot or eBayable games went (Super Smash Bros, Mario games Tennis, Golf, Parties 1, 2, 3, Mario 64, etc)
Assume all are disc/cart only except when noted. I haven't decided what to keep or trade yet for most games.
N64 haul:
Starcraft 64
Tetrisphere
ExciteBike 64
Castlevania
Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness (I'm keeping this!)
Rayman 2: Great Escape
World Driver Championship
Armorines
San Fran Rush 2049
Turok 2
South Park
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
Extreme G2
Hybrid Heaven
Beetle Adventure Racing (I'm keeping this too)
Lego Racers
Command and Conquer
Duke Nukem: Zero Hour
Shadowgate 64
Winback
Wipeout 64
Jet Force Gemini
Cruis'n Exotica
Blast Corps
Pokemon Puzzle League
PS1 haul:
Deception III: Dark Delusion
Silhouette Mirage
One Piece Mansion
Harvest Moon: Back to Nature (I'm keeping this)
Disney's Treasure Planet (new, sealed)
Colony Wars
Metal Gear Solid
Parasite Eve
King's Field II
Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions
Pinobee
Norse by Norsewest (Lost Vikings)

I may check the GS stores in upper NY tomorrow while my one relative I work for is at the auction there. There's like 2-3 GS stores within 5-6 miles of each other from the auction. I just hope like hell that they lemme use the car(cause then I'll hit the 2 Best Buys in that same area lol).
Otherwise, I still haven't found the 1-3 titles I'm looking for for PS1 from the stores YET. And, with how many Ebayers probably know about this clearance by now, I doubt I'll find the ones I want.

it had the generic Gamecube Controller SKU. and lol they say it's a "Hygene" issue because they don't want you to buy used pads, they want you to buy their crappy Gamestop Brand Pads. I used to work at gamestop.....i was told this by alot of my managers..and to just tell people that it's a hygene issue so they don't question.

Either way, no way to tell if someone sweat or uhhh something worse on one of those and if you use too harsh a chemical on it, it may damage it, no?
I would NOT buy used dance pads, but have bought used controllers before and cleaned them and the 'muck' in the cracks of them with rubbing alcohol.

haha guys i got liek every madden and nhl/nfl game.
Actually, I managed to find Mario Kart, Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong Racing, Smash Bros, Clay Fighter 63 1/3, Quest64, Goldeneye 007, Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Stadium, Gex, Gex 3, Tony Hawk 2, Wave Race 64, and Pilot Wings 64, among some other stuff.
No one had anything decent for the PSX -- I found a MGS, Persona 2, and the X-Files - but the MGS and Persona 2 boxes were EMPTY (which the clerk defined as stolen, they no longer keep the discs behind the counter, even for games at a $30 sticker price) and the X-Files discs were all loose, and I could only find three out of four.
I did snag Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, though.
Combining my edge card + the discount = games from $0.40-$3.00
I managed to snag duplicates of most games if anyone wants to buy or trade.

Hardware may be clearanced too, though YMMV - I picked up a PSone with controller, AC adaptor, and RF adaptor for $10 pre-tax.
There were grimy, old PSX systems left though. I have yet to test them but I couldn't pass up a system for $10.
I know for a fact that accessories are NOT clearanced, as a $2 memory card was about the same price after tax.
I picked up more good titles since my store is still receiving PS1 shipments from other districts apparently. The 75% off promo doesn't automatically apply anymore so the Edge card only took 10% off the manual 75% discount (before, Tales of Destiny was $29.99 less 75% = $7.50 - 10% of $29.99 = $7.50 - 3 = $4.50. NOW, with the manual entry, it was $7.50 - $0.75 = $6.75. Ah well. The discount is still current but for whatever reason, this store's register didn't apply the discount automatically.

I noticed this, too - my first round of games had both discounts off of the original price, then I had some that took 10% off of the discounted price - and then went to a different store two days later, and they stacked based on the original price again.
I think different stores might be configured differently.
Its a shame that the 75/off doesn't include accessories, but they are already discounted - $1.80 for N64 power adapters after discount? Not bad for something that most eBayers are asking $15+ for.

Accessories in ALL of the local stores around me (Harrisburg, PA) are clearanced.. I'm not sure why that varies for you guys. I believe everything I saw was around 99 cents before 75 percent off plus edge card. I picked up one official Sony PSOne controller for 15 cents. There were tons of 3rd party controllers for the same price... saw one or two multitaps (maybe have been a buck or two more, didn't check specifically), and no memory cards... also an RFU adaptor or two...
Also saw a few third party Dreamcast controllers for the same price..
And my one local store still has some Genesis/ Super NES games, and they were discounted the same as PSOne/N64 games as well. Nothing great, mostly sports... but picked up some sports game that meant a lot to me as a kid that I don't own anymore... Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball (Both of them for SNES), NCAA Basketball (SNES), Jurassic Park (Genesis), etc. They ranged from 15 - 30 cents.

But, I haven't been ALL unlucky lately, since that SAME shop sold me a 30001R PS2(with no warranty seal) that they thought was completely DEAD. It turns out it works 100%. However, I only bought it for parts, for $10.

There's an EB about an hour from me that still shows them in stock on the website. I've been there before (maybe 2 months ago) and they had them. They are a fairly new EB and loaded them down when they opened. Except for a few oddball PS1 games (junk games) everything seemed to have the case and maybe the booklet but I didn't check that closely. All the cases looked to be in good condition, and I'm sure all those Square greatest hits games were probably gutted since the cases looked to be in very clean condition.
I think it was lunar 1 they had more than one of, but lunar 2 was the only copy but it still shows on the website in stock. Wild Arms and Breath of Fire 3 is gone now though it looks like, they don't show in stock. Everything else still seems to be there. Lunar 1 was a very thick box (not a normal case IIRC) but Lunar 2 had the typical case, it was thick though like Final Fantasy games I think.
If these games really do ring up as cheap as you guys say and someone is desperate for something I'll see what I can do. They had multiple copies (3 or more) of Breath of Fire 4, Vagrant Story, Xenogears, Final Fantasy 8 and 9, and Parasite Eve. Lunar 1 had two copies I think and the second one only one. They had one Wild Arms and BoF3 but it shows out of stock on those.
Looks like they still have that Nocturne in stock. Very clean case too. This EB is out in the boonies so it doesn't surprise me this stuff isn't selling. That's the place I got my copy of Wizardry PS2.
Edit: They also had multiple copies of Persona 2 I know, and it still shows in stock. I can't remember everything they had. I'd rather not give the location right now since a lot of these games I never played and may want to play them myself.
2nd edit: Just did a quick look and they still also have Final Fantasy Tactics, FF Anthology, FF Chronicles, Rhapsody, Legend of Dragoon, and Chrono Cross. I think that's all the major stuff. I was only looking up RPG's by the way. It's pretty much greatest hits stuff though, stuff most of you have anyway.

So I called a local GS, which used to be a Rhino, and asked about the sale. He told me the Xenogears he had (which I didn't see the two times I went there) rang up at $20.00. He also said he tried some PS1 games a few days ago and they rang up at sticker price too.
Is this just because he didn't total the items? Does anyone know if the 75% off is still going on? I know the discount doesn't apply until they total it, but I assume the GS employee would know this.

Be warned though! If you find a store with games, first call and ask if they still have PSX games before going. I went online and it said a store near me had old FF's, Resident Evils, lots of great games for PS1. I went to that store and it said they hadn't been carrying any old games for a long time.
So call and ask. Don't ask about individual games, just call and ask if they at least carry old ones.

I've picked up probably around 100 games from this sale as well, but these don't work:
Star Ocean: Second Story (I think that's the title)
Intelligent Qube
Chrono Cross (already own it anyways, though, but couldn't pass it up for so cheap)
Warcraft 2 (something or other)
Intelligent Qube is the one that hurts the most. It looks about perfect, except for this crack in it.. almost looks like a small DENT on the bottom of the disc. Got it buffed at GameCrazy just for the hell of it... still a no go. :( Any other ideas?

If anyone could me copies of Chrono Cross, Brave Fencer Musashi, Final Fantasy Chronicles, Banjo-Tooie, Mischief Makers, Pokemon Puzzle League and Majora's Mask, I would so gladly pay you for them.
Upon calling a store that seemed like they might have had stuff hidden away in the back, I ended up getting this jackass that I always see treating the customers like he just doesn't give a fuck. So I automatically got told they didn't have anything prior to PS2, despite the fact that they had a case full of Game Boy Color games and at one point had an entire bin full of N64 games that would not sell.

What does that even mean? Did you mean to say "I don't believe you without pics"? Or perhaps, "Nobody will buy these games off of you or trade for them - if you wanted to, that is - without pics"? Otherwise, I fail to see how her list is 'useless'. Lists like this, unless they are specifically for the purpose of listing items to trade, serve the sole purpose of showing that games in said list are obtainable by all, if they can be found.
Useless without pics Gara
Haha well I have already added them all into a cd album. I can scan some of the receipt if you are implying I am a fibber. You're not missing much with the picture though. Countless broken jewel cases, cheap paper sleeves, and old stickers I threw in the garbage. They seem to have come from several stores and each store had a different method of packing them.
Shrinkwrapped in a jewel case, slim design jewel cases, sealed in a little sandwich bag, paper sleeves, jewel case wrapped in tape, and all of the carts were sealed in game accessory bags. I'm guessing the employees have been sitting on them in the backroom because almost every single jewelcase had something broken on it.
Alright I am a free time person! Work it baby! Strike a pose!

Well, I think I may have screwed myself out of the chance to check out the half rack of PS1/N64 games my local EB had just 2-3 weeks ago. I went in there the other day, only finding Nuclear Strike and Command & Conquer and found out that the half rack of games had been reduced to a shoebox half filled with games.
So, either someone on CAG is a fuckin hoarder and cleaned them out of games(since I did stupidly mention the only 2 local stores with PS1/N64 games left) or they were ordered to move over 75% of their games to the only other local store I know of with them in stock.
Either way, it sucks, since I had a feeling that place WAS a gold mine, if I'd only checked it when they had ALL the games there still.
But, that's what I get for not checking every single game(in those annoying paper sleeves) prior to leaving the store that LAST time.

Just got back from two different stores. One I had gotten the previously mention PSOne games from and the other from one I didn't think would even have anything.
Got a nicer haul this time around. The following prices are from 85% off.
Nintendo 64
Banjo-Tooie - $1.95
F-Zero X - $1.20
Goemon's Great Adventure - $2.25
Jet Force Gemini - $0.45
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards - $2.25
Mario Party - $2.70
Mario Tennis - $2.70
Perfect Dark - $0.75
Pokemon Puzzle League - $1.95
Star Fox 64 - $0.75
Super Mario 64 - $2.25
Super Smash Bros. - $2.25
PlayStation
Mega Man Legends - $1.20
Mega Man X5 - $0.75
Dreamcast
Ecco the Dolphin - $1.20
Add 6% sales tax
Total: $26.08
Awesome part was that the first store told me to come back on Sunday for some sort of buy 2 used, get a certain percent off deal that would be coming up. Especially awesome when they said they'd likely be getting shipped more older game.

I've bought out my whole gamestop, i spend at least 600 bucks or more.
Minus the sports and stuff. Going from Orginal Nintendo to Snes and Genesis...and a shit load of Ps1 games and N64. I feel kinda poor now but every day is Game day...so im living my dream....And i took all the bad sport games that i bought by accident and crappy nes games and traded it to a store like EB called CGX (console game exchange) towards a $49.95 copy of dracula X for Snes....i got 27 bucks of credit and payed like 22 bucks for the game. Now im at home playing games ever day... what a nice life i got. I also made a list of what games i got on excel just for the ps1 games that were cd only...took 2 hours...anyways.....if i get bored i list the highlights of my findings and maybe some pictures?... by the way i live in florida. :bouncy:

Actually did some exploring. Found another hidden GameStop with an entirely large rack filled with PSOne and N64 games. Unfortunately, the PSOne section was a little disappointing. I did manage to nab some of the better N64 games, though.
Following is marked down 85%.
1080 Degrees Snowboarding - $0.75 (Was $4.99)
Bust-A-Move 2: Arcade Edition - $1.80 (Was $11.99)
Bust-A-Move '99 - $1.80 (Was $11.99; mistakenly labeled as BAM 2)
Donkey Kong 64 - $1.20 (Was $7.99)
The New Tetris - $3.75 (Was $24.99)
Paper Mario - $4.50 (Was $29.99)
Pokemon Snap - $0.45 (Was $2.99)
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron - $0.75 (Was $4.99)
PSOne Gex: Enter the Gecko - $0.45 (Accidentally given EtG instead of Gex 3; no complaints though)

I called about 6 stores and they said they sent all their old stuff to one giant mall store. I went and the pickens were slim. They had 3 Elmo N64 games and about 100 PS1 games. The good stuff (and I use that term loosely)

You people are so lucky. I went to replace my refurbished PS2 and looked around. First I spot an N64 controller but quickly realize it is 3rd party and put it back. I don't see anything for a while but then I notice about 3-4 racks of PS1/N64 stuff. I was like OMG I hit the fucking jackpot. There was probably 3 racks of n64 stuff and 2 racks of ps1 actually, with a bunch of PS1 games being sleeve only. I look through everything and every single game is either Madden, Blitz, NBA Courtside, or some PS1 game called Snowboarders 2 or something. Ugh I actually found Metal Gear Solid VR Missions, Battlestations, and I got Blitz 2000. Total was $2.75.

Today's haul:
I dropped by an out-of-the way store that I had previously raided for N64 stuff (grabbed Diddy Kong, Mario Kart, Mario 64, and a handful of other decent stuff) but hadn't had a chance to poke around at their PSX stuff. I tackled those today, and spent half an hour poring through their four shelves of PSX games. I also poked around in the N64 stuff again for anything I might have missed or new additions, and I checked out their accessories.
My haul:
N64:
Blast Corps
Pokemon Puzzle League
Space Station Silicon Valley (x3)
Robotron 4
Madden 2000 ($0.15!)
Donkey Kong 64
PSX:
Arcade's Greatest Hits: The Atari Collection 1
Bust A Move '99
DeathTrap Dungeon
Dino Crisis
Hearts of Darkness
Jet Moto 2
Oddworld: Abe's Exodus
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
Parasite Eve
Parasite Eve II
Persona 2
Quake II (Complete!)
Star Wars: Dark Forces
Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi
Time Crisis
The X-Files (x 2 and a half)
Accessories (all $0.89 apiece after Edge discount, no 75% off but they were already reduced to a buck apiece anyway.):
RumblePak, Nintendo Branded (x3)
Game Boy Transfer Pak (x2)
Playstation Controller, Sony Branded (x3)
And just because they were 0.12-0.30 apiece and complete (and to go with a PSX I snagged at a garage sale for $2):
NFL Game Day '97
Triple Play 2000
Madden '99
Madden 2000
Jimmy Johnson's VR Football
My new Game Informer finally came, so I brought it for the coupon (thought I'd get another $3 off of Persona 2), but the employee on duty told me that I couldn't use it with other discounts...which I should have pressed on, because it's supposed to supplement the Edge card, which was valid on the clearanced merchandise. Has anyone else tried using theirs with any luck?
The grand total for all of the above was about $35 and change. =D

*ponders* Althought I have a fairly good grasp of what's good and what isn't, what games are fun, which are common, which are hard to come by, are there any obscure titles to be looking out for? Anything a CAG'er should pick up for the $0.50 clearance price simply due to rarity/obscurity or eBay/trade value?

Chrono Cross

Legend of Mana
Lunar Silver Star Story
Parasite Eve
Persona 2
RPG Maker
Saga Frontier 1
Saga Frontier 2
Star Ocean
Suikoden
Tales of Destiny
Vagrant Story
Vandal Hearts
Xenogears
Any other must-haves I'm missing? I kind of missed out on the PSX -- I sat out most of that generation, got an N64 for Christmas at launch but never had more than half a dozen games until recently, and the only thing I really played on the PSX (which I got towards the end of its lifecycle) was Final Fantasy IX.
Most of my teenage gaming was either retro or on the PC.

Very interesting, interesting indeed....well, I'll need to ask for it then when I go next time, hopefully tommorow.
Is it like that "Upcoming Games" binder, with a weekly printout? Was there even a date on the inventory binder printouts?
Tsukento
04-22-2007, 12:51 AM
Basically it's like those binders, but it's pretty much a list of stuff they have sitting in the back listed by consoles. What I found REALLY suprising was they even had Genesis and NES games listed.
I didn't really bother to look for a date. I simply asked the guy if he had any of the older games, he said they did. I asked if there was any way I could see them and handed me a binder to look over. The spine was labeled "N64 and PSOne." If you're gonna ask to see it, ask if they have any lists of games that they have for the older games (if they do confirm that they have them).

I finally hit not one, but 2 stores yesterday with a fairly large stock of PS1 games.
I got a considerable pile from each store. Unfortunately all the RPGs were gone, but still managed to pick up some very decent titles like...
Resident Evil 1
Dino Crisis
Incredible Crisis
The Game of Life
Digimon games
Dune 2000
Raystorm
Tomb Raiders
Twisted Metal III/4
Megaman Legends
Umjammer Lammy
Time Crisis
etc etc
Not the absolute cream of the crop, but some good ones IMO. I was very pleased overall, seeing that the average price after Edge card was 0.45-0.60. The most expensive game I picked up was RE1, $1.35 after edge. :)
One store had no N64 games, the other one only have a very sad selection of ONLY basketball titles :/

Well, went to the only GS that I knew that still stocked ps1 and n64 games. I went to look at the rack with the cases, a bit hard since they were all jewel cases with a sticker on them. One employee comes up and asks if I need help, I ask for their inventory list on ps1 games, he says they dont have one.
Back to fishing, I was so suprised when I fished out Parasite eve II and Breath of Fire IV. But the rest were full of Who Wants to be a millionare, various madden, and cat in the hat?
Went up to the counter, other guy tells me that the cases are basically old, he's going to show me the inventory list, which employee #1 told me they didnt have...Looked through it, nothing much, but Breath of fire missing :( then I ask him to get a small list of games. Pulls out a box with the games, sleeves so old they're falling apart. I asked him first if I could just take a look at them myself, tells me they cant put it over the counter. Gives up after I list about 3 games, tells me to go ahead. Mixed up, but I wade through it, eventually getting Fear Effect and Parasite Eve 2. Total, about 2.25 with 85% off.

Yesterday hurt me bad. The two GameStops that had the good stuff was low on 'em. The one with N64 games had them all sent out to another store, so they had only mostly crap PSOne games. The next place I went to barely had much left, either. I did manage to snag the following:
Nintendo 64
Harvest Moon 64 - $4.20
Space Station Silicon Valley - $1.50
PlayStation
Digimon World 3 - $0.75
Parasite Eve - $1.95 (Came with both discs and the third bonus disc)
Resident Evil 2 - $1.05
Spyro the Dragon - $1.05
Was so pissed that I lucked out on Suikoden. They had it on the list (and they had just finished printing out an updated list) but they were more worried about making sure they get the store closed within an hour rather than finding the game (and it was a slow night, there was nobody there but me).

you should pretend you want to buy the boxes and ask for how much. they cant charge for them and all they could do is throw them out. they will end up giving them to you.
i did this for Bust a Groove 2.. i wanted to buy the game for $29.99.. they looked for about 15 minutes and they couldnt find the game. Swung by the local thrift store on my home from work on a complete whim. Poked around by the CDs, thought maybe I'd see something random and cool, but not likely. Then I saw a familliar black disk staring back at me from a generic case - it was the install disc to Final Fantasy VII for the PC! I rummaged around some more, and came across disc 2...but that was all. Both were labeled $3.99. I moved over to the next display of predominantly music CDs, and managed to find the last two! I grabbed the clerk/manager and asked about getting them all together for 3.99 since they were all part of the same game. He told me "No, but its a Wednesday so they're half price." Whatever, works for me.

I picked up DDR Disney Mix and Harvest moon back to Nature, total was about 9.00 at gamestop X-D I had gone into the same gamestop a week before looking for Harvest moon becasue it said they had it instock on-line but didn't find it..and today went looking for DDR Disney Mix because it said on-line they had it and it wasn't there either so i asked the Cashier and he couldn't find it on the floor so he went into the back and found a box of amazing ass PS1 games and low and behold DDR Disney and Harvest moon were chillin in it. I didn't pick up the rest because i'm not a greedy mofo.
I can't begin to explain how much I envy you for finding DDR Disney mix....

Okay so the only GS in my area that still carries these N64 games and PSX games got a shipment in of 25 things yesterday. (I called and asked today). Should I drive and check it out? It's a little bit of a drive.

Good luck with finding more of that stuff you people snagging multi-copies of titles should share the love with us less fortunate PSone/N64 less game shops..

My local GS has a few PSOne/LCD Screen combos left. Anyone know what the price would be?

My local stores that had buttloads of PS1/N64 games now have next to none. Of course, part of the blame for that definitely falls on me, since I mentioned which two local stores I had recently seen collections of the games at.
Mind you, all I want from the PS1 era is maybe 2 games, but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay Ebay like prices for them from ANYONE. Intelligent Qube and Rising Zan are the ONLY two games I WANT, but I'm not willing to pay more than the $6 something 75% off price for IQ.
Ah well.....easy come easy go.

The employees at my local store say the sale applies to hardware making their $15.00 ps1 system really cheap (according to them) but the discount didn't apply to the controller I purchased now that I look at the receipt. Let us know if you can get them to apply the discount to hardware

At one store, I got a PSone with RF switch, one dual shock PSone controller, and the power cord for $10 pre-tax.
They had other PSones available but I nabbed the best for myself. The rest were dingy and some even had issues with the lid not shutting.
The official PSone LCD screens were still $75, though.

EDIT: And to keep this post on topic, the EBGames near me was cleaned out of some of the 'good stuff' recently. Worms Armageddon, Starcraft 64, and Dr. Mario 64 were all there before, but were gone when I went back for them. Why do people want shit ports? Granted, they were the most expensive 64 games they had at $24.99 before discount, but still...
Also, they stopped doing BOGO sometime ago, probably because they just advertised a worse deal of B2G1 coming up on Sunday.

@Derrick1979: with older games, you really need to just grab and buy it without thinking. specially if its at eb or gs and most certainly when theres a 75% off promotion going on :)
things i have passed on in the past that i regreted:
final fantasy 7 (game only), it was $29.99. went back the next week, GONE :(
parappa the rapper (game only), $11.99, thats why i passed, but it was $11.99. 2 days later GONE :(
suikoden 2 (game only), priced at $69.99, almost bought this gem, saw the game disc at the register cause i asked, came back the NEXT DAY it was apparently stolen :(
castlevania chronicles, $29.99, this was complete too, passed again a month later it was snagged by someone else :(
lesson made: do not pass on older games. its harder to get them, and youll never see it again. they are kinda like endangered species, but instead youll only see them on ebay.

 I guess this would be where I mention that I grabbed one from a local Kmart for $10 last fall or so, huh? Lots of luck finding a Kmart with any PSone/LCD combos left though.
Of course, I also grabbed a buttload of old grey model PS1's from a local shop for $1 each(consoles only) around the same time. I should've nabbed them all though, only took around 5-6. And, out of those, only 1 had problems.

That list is craptacular that you got arthur3D, very few 'harder to get' titles(from what I remember of the list of 'rare' titles anyway) and lots of dreck thrown in.
Hoarders who buy assloads of games like that, then get nothing 'good' out of it= JUSTICE
Now, if I could just find the hoarder who cherry picked all the PS1/N64 games from stores here and left the Maddens from 10 years ago there I might be happy. Although, the one guy who is a manager at a store about 30-40 miles away now told me they may have the games in the back still. So, maybe that's where I'm headed today.

Are you going to help fellow CAGs with all of those games? For instance, all of your apparently unwanted Paper Marios will surely go to good homes in seconds if you gave paying CAGs an opportunity to buy them off of you.

Still doesn't make any sense, unless you're like the couple flea market stand people here who sell games, who buy them cheap from one place and try and jack them up by $10-40 per game to sell at their weekend stands.
How the one guy stays in biz is beyond me, since he buys games that're now GH titles for $4-5, then puts them up over $20 a pop. I don't think a single game has moved from his stand in the over 2 years he's been at the flea market.
Now, when he had a higher rent and more overhead, he was actually selling stuff cheaper and it made going to his store a pleasure, because I knew he wouldn't try ass raping me on price on a game.
Either way, I still go to the shop he buys many of his games from now, where I get them for $3-10 usually with the occasional title going for $15-20.

Ahhhhhh....the old 'I bought them all so I can Ebay the crap outta them and make back my initial money and then some' routine.<stares at binloads of older game guides he bought with the intention to 'sell on Ebay'> Good luck is all I can say because if most of the useless dreck gets you $1 per title, plus whatever you can try and overcharge for shipping, you MIGHT at least break even.
But, you're NOT the first person on CAG to hoard to the extreme<stares at binloads of older game guides that I was 'gonna Ebay' again>, as I too had that plan at one point. And, maybe the Goldeneye's and Paper Marios will sell, along with some other titles, but I don't see ALL of those selling for as big as you might think.

BUT, if you WERE to end up with a HUGE box of games you bought but couldn't sell, imagine the hit in your wallet? That's where our hoarding differs, in that I spent .01 a guide(sometimes was just given them) and most of that time, I had a friend(ex gf who was unemployed at the time) who drove me around to ALOT of FAR OFF stores looking for guides. She did it under the premise that we would share any profit and we have, though it has not be quite as profitable as we had hoped.
And actually, we later on found out that most guides don't hold value beyond 3 weeks past the pennied date. So, now she doesn't even want to hear about how many I've sold or not and I'm actually FINALLY sick of watching them sit here already, so I may just throw out or sell them even cheaper on here pretty soon.
Just wanna give you a quick heads up, so you don't end up making a far more expensive mistake of trying to Ebay all those games and going past the 7 day return period on used games. Try and list a couple of each NOW, with a 2 day auction. If none sell or do phenomenally well, then you have your answer and you still have TIME to return those other games before you're left with a box of games collecting dust and a big CC bill.
Oh and before I DO forget, I AM grateful to ALL of the CAGs who have bought guides from me or that I've traded with. There are some GREAT fellow gamers on this site, who probably WILL groan when they see your OP and say 'why couldn't I find some of those in MY stores??'.

3) they didnt know about the deal till after i raided....now there afraid of me when i walk into the store. they say.....why are you here???? dont you have enought to play at home? its same story every time i go there. one employee was mad that i took the last copy of persona 2...i clearly asked him was it a good game....his silence told me it was worth buying.
4) To be sucessful in any kinda bussiness you have to take risks. Maybe ive made a mistake but from that week on its been a great ride...god every night is a game night! what more can i ask for? so what i lose a few bucks....money comes a goes....when people buy new games...or new systems....they dont get there money back...buy a 50 buck game...sell it back for 10 bucks.... do that for a long time and me im better then that cus i dont buy games at prices like that...shit im always back a few generations when it comes to games.

Since I found this site(albeit while looking for 'cheap' games on the net, which I now know to be a myth alot of times), I've changed my buying habits drastically. I look at it as 'why should I buy ONE $50 game, when I can have 10 PROVEN $5 games that were ONCE $50'.
Best deal ever from watching this site STILL has to be my $10 PSone/LCD combo(thanks to, I believe, Briansraregames for that info).
Just don't forget to spread the PS1/N64 love a bit if you DO end up stuck with a bunch of games, ok?

Personally, I wouldn't want any of the crap he bought, unless he had a minty copy of Intelligent Qube and didn't want Ebay price of $50-60 for it. And honestly, if ANYONE else did this and posted 'I cleaned out X stores of Y items', you would probably see MORE people being irate.
I remember when someone found a bunch of Ebay auctions from someone who showed STACKS and STACKS of game guides in their house or office. People from here said they were going to 'bump' the bids up on there and then NOT pay to 'get them back'.
Or the one game store which announced its closure and was liquidating their stock, which many CAGs said you could see the Kmart clearance tags on many of them still.
So, a few people complaining is NOTHING, compared with the usual 'call to arms' for hoarders on here.

Word, I'm surprised more people aren't disgusted by the braggadocio required to type out a list of HUNDREDS of games, say that these are just the ones that they DON'T want, and even go on to say that there are hundreds more that they actually wanted. Then to go on to say that none of these are for themself, friends, or fellow posters, but are just going to be sold - why even bother posting any of that in the first place? It could be construed as a 'warning' to people in their area that there is nothing left, but that could have been said in a sentence; a list of hundreds of games is a little more akin to boasting. So, again, why post in the first place?
The answer is because that person is a hoarding ass.

Buying out entire stores of their stock is just pain greed. We all know damn well out of 500 games there is multiples of most of them - don't come on here posting that crap and try to say "Im a game collector." Most of the people here are game collectors and dont have a need to flip 3 copies of a game for every 1 that they keep. Buying all of those made you look like an ass, but actually coming on here to share it with everyone really makes you one.
Usually I try to defend people trying to get some free stuff here and there, but this is just ridiculous. Find a new way to make some money.

man, there are some real immature people in this thread (and I'm not talking about arthur3d). You can't flame him for not trading with you.
Not but you can flame him for buying everything out of the store leaving nothing for other CAG's and instead ebaying it. I got quite a few duplicates of games like Rhaspody, Saiyuki, etc. I got them over a period of a month giving anyone in my area ample time to take them before I did. I usually buy 2-3 games a week in case others swung by.
I traded extra copies to people on gametz. Stuff like a copy of Saiyuki for a copy of megaman legends etc. A few I sold for under ebay costs to someone whom i knew wasn't going to turn around and flip them.
When you buy hundreds of crap games for the SOLE purpose of flipping don't expect any mercy. I mean no one would blame him for buying 10 copies of suikoden 2 and ebay'ing them if he found em (hopefully he'd offer 1-2 here as thanks for finding out about the deal). Buying every game in the store reduces him to the level of someone from fatwallet.

Glad to see there's another CAG who likes Rampage like I do. I grew up in the era when it came out(80's) and many games today wouldn't even BE around if not for the groundwork laid out by some of those early titles.
Stuff like:
Elevator Action-(ducking into rooms to evade being seen by enemies, ala MGS and many other games)
Double Dragon/Final Fight(89-90)/Streets Of Rage(90's)- Just TRY and talk to a game dev who made a brawler and have them NOT mention one of those three games.
Swordquest series(Atari 2600)- Multi part games in a series, action slashing RPGs(albeit primitive back then, but still fun when you were a kid back then)
Super Mario Bros.(NES)- wacky weapons(a sunflower=ability to shoot fireballs, whodathunk?), + convoluded(but semi believable in the realm of gaming) storyline= fun experience
Hell, even the party game genre had Track + Field on the NES and Tapper(and Root Beer Tapper) to thank for their invention to some extent.
Maybe I'm giving some of these games too much credit, but I think all of them DID help to launch gaming to where it is TODAY.
Oh and.....if ANY CAGs happen to find a(even disc only) copy of Intelligent Qube at their local GS/EB with PS1 games. I'll buy it for cost plus a lil extra plus shipping cause my local stores are COMPLETELY tapped out it seems.

Don't bin everyone together... I use FW daily and I'm not a hoarder and I'm sure that many CAG lurkers hoard and don't post. Even if the list was fake, it is sort of lame but it's a free world and it's full of people looking to make a quick buck and there's nothing wrong with that, as long as it's legal.
This is the kind of thing that I might shake my head at, but I wouldn't go around condemning him for it. Really........

Drove up to a store East of me in Connecticut - Old Saybrook - found a decent selection of games and picked up the following (most complete) - WCW Backstage Assault (which I wanted because I am a wrestling fan to complete the WCW collection), The Italian Job, Grand Theft Auto 1 & England, Martian Gothic, Tomb Raider 3, Hot Shots Golf, and Driver 2.
Total was 4.45. Very pleased with that. If anyone's in the area, I recommend going there and checking it out.
Checked out a bunch of other stores in Danbury, Fairfield and Norwalk found nothing. One of the stores at the Milford mall had mostly sports PS1 games. Westport had a few N64 games left but nothing I wanted - looking for Banjo Tooie and Kazooie. I'll check out Trumbull tomorrow for the B2G1 used deal to use up a couple of giftcards but I've never seen any older games at the 3 stores there.

Awesome deal I found. Picked up Rhapsody, Persona 2, Starcraft 64, and some Koei RPG for 95% off. 75% off+ 20% off for renewing my Edge card.
That was all of their games left. Which was odd, I think when they were told to send all of their stuff back, they stashed their RPGs and other hard to finds (pretty stoked and surprised to find Starcraft 64)
Unfortunately, I passed on a disk only Xenogears (which I would have picked up if I knew I was getting 95% off) But I'm pretty satisified with my trip out there. I found a Monster Hunter Freedom next door at Circuit City as well.

Wow, I haven't been to this thread in a couple of days and I just have to say that Arthur3d is a fucking dick. Hope you know how to digest half-assed PSOne CDs and N64 Cartridges. That's the only shit you're gonna be able to afford for a long while.
'Nuff Said <--------------That's how it's don3:booty:
As for my haul, I managed to pick up;
Gran Turismo
Warhawk
Battletanx (dunno why)
Driver 2

We went to our local dropoff for the area's PS1/N64 stock in Midland Park, NJ, and someone spent over a grand there, taking everything not sports. :P Had we not been on our honeymoon, we could have added a lot to our own collection.
We still left with 76 games we needed though. And no, we're not hoarding; it's for our personal collection. They were all individual titles we needed, and would also have been had we gotten there first.

So this has probably already been said, but does this new buy 2 get 1 free also work with these games?

The system doesnt combine offers so they would have to manual discount.. It will be a YMMV type of deal.

But considering the games have been slashed by 75%, it's obvious they're going to want to get rid of them. :P

heh, kinda figured but I might of thought ebgames would try and say the 75% off is the only discount you can use.

I've stopped by a couple of Gamestops a few times and did some searching. I got on this kind of late so some of the better stuff was missing and almost no complete games were to be found but here's the only two worth noting (most of what I got I intended to play, for pennies why not?):
Legend of Mana (disc only)
Tomba! 2 (complete, perfect condition)
Butterfly719
04-29-2007, 05:34 PM
Got a pretty decent haul today...lots of games that I had/played some time ago and wanted to rebuy for my collection. All were disc only, unfortunately:
Army Men World War $.45
Superstar Dance Club #1 Hits $.90
K-1 Revenge $.45
Gran Turismo 2 (2 disc) $.75
Vigilante 8 $.45
Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense $.60
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos $.60
Croc 2 $.60
Darkstone $.45
Tomb Raider 4 $.45
and the best deal of the day...
Point Blank 2 $1.05
These prices reflect both the 75% and 10% being taken off.

All drama aside...
Is it wrong to buy a lot of the cheap, mediocre stuff just to clear shelf space and get them to open another box or two that's sitting in the back? ;D

In my experience unless the worker really hates you, he/she will let you take a look in the boxes, assuming the store isn't busy. Ask!

Then again, it could just contain more bleh. Recently, I heard from another employee that they would recieve a shipment of 500 ps1 games. I, of course, went to check it out the next day. Well, I asked if I could see it, and another employee brought out the box, which had about 460 ps1 games. I searched in the box for almost an hour, but what do I turn up? Nothing. All sports and wrestling, a few variety games here and there, but nothing worth it. He tells me that they were actually from other stores where they couldnt sell them, so they were dumped on them. See if your local store got a box of unsellable games dumped on them too -_-'

I wish to hell my store woulda got some decent stuff, along with the fifty bajillion Maddens and other various crap games. But, if they had anything, they're long gone now. :(

Actually, I'm the manager's new best friend because I'm taking so much old stuff off of his hands. :D However, he says that he keeps getting more and more boxes, not just from old stores, but from the backs of warehouses, too. Unfortunately, he says that due to corporate policy, he can't break the seal on boxes until he has enough room cleared on the shelves to put out the entire box.

That sounds amazing. I'd buy all of that stuff at 85% off, just for sheer quanity in my collection (lame, I know, to buy a ton of wrestling stuff)
I wonder how I'd find a store set up like this. Suppose I'd check out my store locator and call each store that lists a certain PSone game in stock.

Im just wondering, do stores have the option to choose to accept a shipment of games, and say no if they dont want it? For example, old games such as PS1 and N64, Im sure there are some managers out there that think its a hassle to sell old games like these.
Also, I wouldnt mind if they had them, I'm pretty sure some of my local GS dont even have a chance to sell ps1 games because they're not offered these boxes, even if they dont want them. Well, at least I have one GS in my area that has old games, but not for long though once this is over :(

Buying every game in the store reduces him to the level of someone from fatwallet.
ok fist off. im not going to thank this website for this Great find...because i didnt find it out from here...For YEARS! ive been to eb and gamestop asking about there old games...and been spoon feed Lies about them sending back all the old games to a warehouse....blah blah... so i could never buy my old school games...and one day i said let me ask the guy and he said we do have some but you have to know the exact game u want and they will look it up. I didnt have that great of a imagination and so i ask the guy was there a box or something i can look through..after he handed the ps1 games i picked out a few i could afford, think the prices were what was on the sticker and after he rang me out he said i owe him like 3 bucks for like 10 games...i was so shocked i was give me all your boxes im going to go through all them. I didnt buy out my eb store in 1 day! i had to come back for like a week or so because the clerks had to do multiple tranactions. I didnt take the rare shit like suikoden 2 and the RPG's b/c they didnt have them and at the time i didnt know which one was rare... lalala My purpose in beginning was buy the games i like to play and enjoy and i figured that alot of other people in other states wont be able to get this stuff so i thought i could offer them on ebay b/c thats where i get the stuff i cant find.

I said that because:
First off, this site is called CHEAP ASS GAMER, not 'sell it to you for JUST under Ebay price ass gamer'. And second, it's because every damned place I go to find it locally 'just sold it', much like the one unreleased game I was looking for a copy of.
And actually, I HAD the demo disc, which is what prompted me to finally look for the whole game(in 2003). I kept putting off finding it and by the time I decided TO look, it was 'rare' and going for good money on Ebay.
While asking for it 'mint' was probably a HUGE mistake, since I DO know that some CAGs would want $40-50 for it easy in THAT condition, I'm still willing to accept it in decent shape AND disc only.
You see though, I don't want to stare at it and go 'wow, look at that rare game I have, its pretty', I want to actually PLAY it. And, again, being a cheapass, I don't want to pay 'ebay' price for it. But, that IS too much to ask, since even the unreleased game was never sent to me by someone who had a copy of it, but didn't want to test it before sending. I didn't want to pay for an untested game, but would've once I got it and tested it on my own.
Oh well....

Lost count of how many times you contradicted yourself in that post.
1. Never said i'd leave FF7, said i left copies of stuff like Persona 2, Breath of Fire 4, Saiyuki, and snagged em next week when they were still there. Did that for about a month getting 4-5 games each week.
2. Not a single game went on ebay. Your welcome to look at my ebay account. User name Brian9824. All my games were traded on gametz to people who actually want to play them.
3. Quite a few of us help out other users. We are not all greedy asses, sadly people take advantage of that generosity and you don't see it as often. For example during the massive CC sale when Disgaea was clearanced for $5, i remember a user here traded it to a guy at cost who had been desperately looking for a copy - who promptly sold it on ebay for $50....
4. "I am a collector and for any ass that thinks they wouldnt buy old school games for a good price your a buch of dee' dee' dees......." Collectors don't buy games to sell on ebay, they buy them to keep. Buying 300+ games with the intention of selling them DOES NOT make you a collector.
5. "only reason i post shit on this form cus like other people we want to share the great deals we in counter.. i dont even post in this form cus i dont find great deals like this and when some one decides to join the community to post and not just leech off bandwith" That's why in 1.5 years here you don't have a single post aside from these and haven't traded with any users? How does posting a haul you got and then saying you have no intention to trade or sell anything to a single user here help any CAG member? Like we have said people wouldnt complain if you were willing to actually sell/trade to CAG members.
You know what you did was wrong and that it was greedy, otherwise you wouldn't have deleted your own list. I mean what were you expecting when you posted here saying you bought several hundred games and wouldn't trade them to anyone on this site and were going to ebay them instead - thanks?
Some of us would rather help out other CAG members then make a $5-15 profit on ebay.

Buying a collection off craiglist is different though, i mean you have no choice but to buy all the games. It's not like you can buy just pieces of it usually. Also craiglist prices are different, your not going to find nationwide sales like this so thats perfectly fine.

Ditto on clerks/sometimes store managers knowing which EB/GS in their district (or nearby districts) had N64 and PS1 inventory.
Within a rough 50 mile radius for me, only 3 stores had games for these systems. Of course each store was on the edge of the radius so I logged plenty of miles in my car.

Thanks for that. You know what happened with Thrill Kill though, right? EA bought up Virgin Interactive within 2 weeks of the games release and ended up killing it. It was later released(sort of) as Wu Tang Shaolin Style. It was NOT a pretty game, to say the least. The blood in the game looked like huge red blocks and it played horridly.
Kind of reminds me of the console version of Black & White that was scheduled to come out. First, it was on PS1, then PS2 and Xbox and now, it MAY eventually come out for 'some next gen system'. I guess I'll just stick to playing it on the PC because it's like Duke Nukem Forever for the consoles, it'll take FOREVER to come out. Funny part is, the PS1 version looked decent enough from all the pics of it that released. Ahhh well....

So, if you get a really good deal on a bunch of games, and manage to sell a couple so that your massive haul of stuff ends up costing a net of $0, that's wrong?
I guess my "Buy someone's collection on CraigsList / flip consoles and games I already have / keep the rest" to acquire games with minimal cash outlay is earning me a spot in gamer hell.
If you're asking me if it's wrong to buy 12 copies of Paper Mario to sell, then, yes, it is wrong.
