Never thought it would happen to me. Always read here about it and finally bam, it happened. I got 3 red lights, according to MS site it means "hardware failure". The strange thing is I got the 3 red lights, turned it off, turned it back on and happened again, the 3rd time I did it it powered up correctly. Now how long until it craps out? Has this happened to anyone and what eventually happened? I've had my 360 since about 4 weeks from launch and never a problem and my system has been babied and extremely well taken care of.
Any advice please fill me in. Thanks x 100!

SELL IT QUICK! jk. I think if it messes up once, it'll keep doing it. your warranty expired already right? since you've had it since launch?

Yeah, I've had it over a year. When you send it off for repair what are the odds you get a new one vs a refurbished one? I'm sure the odds of getting a used one that was as well taken care of as mine is about 1/1,000. Is it best to just send it in for repair or sell it for what I can get for it and buy a new one?

Update, now it is DEAD. Only powered up correctly once after the first 3 red lights. Craaaaap!

one of my friends has had to send his in twice, they sent him the same one just fixed the first time.. but they sent him a new one this time around, but I guess it depends if they can fix it or not?? Im not too sure on how that works, but I think if your warranty expires, you'll have to pay for them to fix it... which sucks cause you might as well get a new one, or just wait for the new one at the end of april.

When you send it in, be sure to post your sadness here, because if you're like my friend.. he wanted to cry when his 360 broke down.

EDIT: Call microsoft to see what the damage would be.

It's an ever growing club too.

Can't wait when people's $480 Elite's start bricking on them too, because they aren't using the new chipset yet.

Went ahead and called MS, $140. Went ahead cause I want to play, but sucks that there is nothing you can do. I love how they stress FREE shipping and a 1 MONTH free live card.

Now I see on the coffin support group all kinds of various repair costs from $70 - my $139. Jeez. Now I feel ripped off twice. I guess I'm gonna be learning all kinds of new stuff.

Sorry to hear about your system breaking down. I went through 2 different 360's before I finally gave up and went with the PS3 instead. Funny how the Sony system has become the reliable one this generation.
