His sale won't go very far though, I've been trying to sell my Xbox with 22 games at $100 for over a month now (quite a few sports games but there's some solid titles thrown in there too) and haven't gotten a single offer.

I sent doucheface there an email...I don't think he liked what I had to say. He simply couldn't face the truth of the matter that he is asking 8 times that bundle's value, and decided to throw a tantrum.

Hey, I'm just trying to figure out how you came up with $325 as not only your asking price, but as a FIRM asking price?

Because used XBoxes are practically worthless, they can't even give them away at every Gamestop in the country. Same with most of the games. Particularly the ones you list, which are mostly racing and sports games. The vast majority of your games sell for a couple to a few bucks, at best, used.

Come on, who the hell do you think you're going to fool? You will NEVER sell your XBox at anywhere near the price you are asking. EVER. Even if it was an XBox 360 with those same shitty games. I suggest you look on gamestop's website as to the prices for used copies of the games you are selling, along with a used XBox price...or even better, find out how little you'd get in trade-in value for that pile. Then adjust your price accordingly.

LOL I didn't realize this was the CraigsList trolling thread ;P

I put up an ad for some of my extra guides that are cluttering up the house -- asking about 25-50% of MSRP just for some holiday cash. Some dumbass who goes to my school emails me telling me he wants a Crisis Core guide for $10, says he'll call me (Friday) and never does...

Then I get a phonecall at 6:45 AM from him, drunk off his ass, asking if its the guide or the friggin' game, then starts asking me if I am selling any PSP games...when I tell him i've got a FF Tactics and a Valkyrie Profile for $15 and $20 each, or $30 if he wants both, he starts begging me to give him them for $28. I eventually told him I'd email him and just hung up.

If I hadn't been up scanning photos for my family today, I'd have been even more pissed.

I'm going to have to dig up some other shitty games and take this guy for all he's worth now. Maybe $28 for Harvest Moon and Platypus? Haha...

I sold a used wii that was scratched up, no wii sports, no stand, with just links crossbow training and WITHOUT the gun for it, for 300 cash on craigslist last week. Used wii demand went up for the holiday season. I was going to sell it for 200 months ago because no one gave a damn, but i lost the wii (literally) and found it a week ago in a closet. Craigslist owns.

Original top loading Nintendo with Zapper Gun, Two Dog-Bone controllers, Two NES-MAX controllers, AC adapter, Video Coaxial connector and 45 great games. Everything works and plays perfect. All games are in perfect condition, except for The Legend of Kage. There is a minor tear on the label. All other game labels are mint. Console and controllers are mint as well. in my opinion, the offers for the systems and some newer games aren't too terrible... of course I'm basing that on the desperation factor(ie when you need fast cash and the pawn's are only offering you @ $10 a game or GS takes another %20 off the total). That other one though, that's just sad... even if I wasn't a gamer I could pick right up on the fact that he's trying to cop valuable games for cheap. I take comfort in the fact that people who actually own those games know they're worth more than that.

1st move you teach them is flying armbar and then gogoplata or just skip it and go with a flying gogoplata and immediately award them their brown!

Now some other questions:

How much are you asking or planning on being paid for this? I'm a little surprised that somone would want someone with two years experience teaching their kids. Nothing against you of course, but I would expect most parents would want a more official academy setting with a more experienced instructor.

No, I completely agree. I wasn't expecting anyone to actually want to purchase lessons from me. I just wanted to trade Kung-Fu for BJJ knowledge. I mean I think I'm pretty good.. You could probably bamboozle the parents pretty good. Just have them spent 1.5 hrs meditating, doing some "katas", and switch it up with some random shrimping their hips out on the ground, etc.

I personally don't know how they work but God forbid one of those kids managed to snap a joint (unlikely since kids are usually flexible when real young) or something else happened.

Will do! No response to my last message as of yet, we'll see what happens. I definitely like teaching the noobies at my university class so it would be fun to have a whole class to myself. I think what I would probably do is have one 1.5 hour class of grappling and one 1.5 hour class of striking each week, maybe even a third class. Only problem is my striking is pretty pathetic haha. But that's why I put the ad up in the first place.. I wanted someone to teach ME kung-fu.

Heh, only when you can actually find them used at Gamestop. I usually attempt to get the Wii Sports when they are in my vicinity, but now the closet ones are 200-250 miles away.

While I agree that the $60 is rather overkill, he probably could get $50 for it on eBay considering it's new. Used copies of Wii Sports go for $30-45 on eBay as well. The people who usually buy them are ones who were gifted a used Wii that didn't come with the game. And Wii Sports is the game most new owners want to play. It could be that they are oblivious to the fact that they could get one from gamestop for $9.99 or it could be that they are 250 miles away from one that has it in stock, so spending that money isn't too bad. Of course these could also be the same people I saw bidding $30+ for Order Up on the Wii when you can buy it for $20 from amazon.

I assumed that it was the legit game and the guy happened to have a Sega Saturn that he modded at one point. Call up asking to make sure it works and is in mint condition. I then make sure to ask if it comes with the orginal case and he tells me that the games are just copies.

Obviously I said no thanks after that.

It went from getting a real good deal to the guy asking for an insane amount of money for a few burnt cd-r's.

Saturn goes for about 30, mod chip is about 30, cd-r's about a penny. If I wanted to a burnt copy I could do it myself and do the switch trick or just get a chip.

I've had so many craigslist deals go up in smoke when they drop the hint that its a copy or when I get there and it is.

One guy with an awesome dreamcast collection going for a pretty good price. I get there and he tries to hand me a binder of cd-r's. Needless to say there was a little misunderstanding.

All I can think happened is that google targeted ads popped up in his g-mail on the word "Nintendo" for one of those godawful overpriced stores that advertise there and he based it on their prices...

I was willing to go $100 ... I consider the Sega and Gameboys as throwaways and probably gave them to kids in the family... I would have kept the NES system and probably resold the SNES... He called out of the blue, and I am sure he is going to call again to accept the $100.

For personal use, I could see going $100, the SNES games are pretty much worth more than that. I have the luxury of not really having anyone else in my area on Craigslist buying for personal use, so I get most of these for the price I want :D Thank the economy, I guess....

i inquired about 2 games on CL, super mario galaxy and wii sports. Guy wanted $50 for them. I was going to talk him down seeing his post has been up over 2 weeks however i got a response from him 2 hours later telling me that the wii sports was heavily scratched but he still had both and he would sell them to me today if i went and bought him a 1 month sim card from BB and threw in $15 cash. So now i have to go shopping for this POS and still meet his asking price for a scratched up game? LOL I told him i was on it and expect an email to meet him later today!

We also have this CL douchebag named Henri L who likes to say "through his company he can acquire hardware software for pc's and macs to trade blah blah blah." I simply replied asking him if he can acquire cash from his work because thats all im taking. Obvious he steals from his job.

Yah. It's pretty ridiculous that the seller wrote SNES, but I have a weak spot for boxed games... not sure if it's worth $40 though. I bet you could get $30 if you explained this is an NES and not SNES. ;)

Wario Land Shake It! For Sale - $30
I bought the new Wario game but it was not what I expected and I am selling it. The game is pretty cool but I already beat it and I am not planning on playing it again. I only played it about three times, you could say it is new, it is in a very good condition, I bought it for $50. I will also trade this game for something else, wii games and wii remote prefered, but make me an offer.
This does seem like a pretty decent price, but I couldn't help but laugh at the whole "you could say it is new" line. I could also say that it's cheese, or say that it cures cancer. However, unfortunately, this does not make it so.

I could go on for weeks about the subject of people comparing their asking price to some other place's price, whether it's "NEW" price, store used, or eBay.

The other favorite is when people who have NO KNOWLEDGE of game values list a bunch of games, I make an offer, and they reply saying "well, would you give me your offer-$10 for all but games X and Y, b/c someone's offering $25 for just those two..

meanwhile, they're the only two games of value in the collection and, w/o them, I'll be LUCKY if I can break even on the rest of the crap...

Hmmm... it's a neat way to just grab a huge collection, and averages about $8 a game. If I were rich, it doesn't seem too bad a deal to me. Of course I would still probably just go and buy the individual games I wanted elsewhere and get them as cheap as possible.

Yeah...it's not a horrible deal, but obviously still too high when you average in all the stinkers and crap games. Normally, for collections/bundles, they should be cheaper than the price of the individual items, but in this case, with the size of the collection and all the quality games in it, it could be worth a slight premium.

But not that much. And definitely not on craigslist an hour and a half away from the nearest major city center. Dude should break it up and sell the games individually on eBay.

If you're interested, offer him a thousand bucks, tell him "LOL you still haven't sold this? How about a thousand dollars...it's the one and only, the best offer you're going to get..." and see if he bites.

From my experience, sealed black go for $300-500 on eBay, varying based on the current trend. For a COMPLETE, MINT black stripe, I get $100 EVEN, and this one doesn't even have the "back label" (which I think in civilized society we call the "back artwork").

Last month I sold my year old 40 gig PS3 with regular Sixaxis controller, no games, no blu-ray discs, for $300. Guy didn't even ask to test out the system or anything. Didn't even check inside the box to make sure it was a PS3 and not an 8 lb barbell or something.

I was happy to get $300 for it because I got it for ~$270 new over a year ago.

Also sold a 360 wireless adapter for $75. Met the guy inside a gamestop, which was selling the same used wireless adapter for $70 (and would thus have a 30 day warranty). Due to traffic, he beat me to the gamestop, but I manueveured us outside and sold him the wireless adapter before he got a chance to see that they sold them used in Gamestop. Think I paid ~$55 for it originally.

Yeah, people on Craigslist are usually dumb. Plus, you get no warranty, so unless it's just a game or something small, I wouldn't risk it. I don't want some loser coming to my house to test their console before I buy, nor do I want to go to their trailer or the PJs to make sure their shit encrusted console works properly.

I have a rule when shopping on craigslist never to spend more then 100 bucks tops beccause of the as-is no refunds warranty thing, and I make sure I test out everything I buy before hand. If the guy doesn't like you inspecting the loot first hand then there must be a reason.

I wish I had a link to the post, but while I was working at Epic Games back in November I found a guy selling "Gears of War 2 and other popular Xbox 360 games" for $15.00 a piece. In the listing it said "If you bring your own DVD-R, I'll even give you half off."

I forwarded that shit to our legal department right there and then and the guy got SLAMMED with legal charges within the week. It was awesome. Haven't seen a post for bootleg 360 games since.

Yeah, there is this one guy who says he runs a "non-profit" donation drive. Never mentions anything about the name of his so called donation group. His ads always look like this -

Ah man, I just LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE those assholes. Now I'm not advocating this or anything, but if a person really wanted to fuck with these clowns, through a remailer/anonymizer or even just a throwaway email account, send him an email telling him you have a ton of free stuff (make it really tempting but not obvious that it's bogus), then send him to the worst ghetto/public housing complex you can find in your city. Tell him that you'll be home late (after 8 pm at the very earliest), and he should come get the stuff then.

There's this similar asshole in LA begging for "old video games" for free for "his neighborhood kids since he set up a recreation center for them in his house". Yeah right. Want to send that bastard down to the projects in South Central to get his dome smashed in.

You should email him and ask him "where he's located, because if it's not too far you can just bring some stuff to him to drop it off". Then, once you get a general area where he is, send him as far away from there (using another email address) as possible. Dude is posting in Boston but saying he will hit New Hampshire, yeah? See how far he's willing to go.

And what's with people thinking Wii's are still rare? I was in Best Buy earlier this week and they must have had 40 in stock throughout the store, and I didn't see a single person pick one up. Honestly whenever I type "Nintendo" in about 90% of the listings are for Wiis or Wii Fits.

There is some jackass in the Cincinnati area that is always posting asking for pinball machines for his basement. He posts at least once or twice a week. The catch is he offers SUPER low prices hoping someone will bite on it and sell him something that he then resells.

I contacted him once offering him one of my pinball machines that I wanted to sell that was worth about $2700. He offers me $400 for it. WHen I told him that it was worth much more than that, he replies "Well I have seen them many times at auction for much cheaper". When I asked him why he comes off as someone that just wants a pinball machine when its OBVIOUS that he's going to auctions and sees them all the time, he stopped emailing me. A few months later I saw a listing for many pinballs for sale I contacted them...guess what? Same guy and same email. I called him out on it and he stopped contact.
