I tried it for the first time last night and it worked pretty well. I tried Shadow Warrior. Sound effects workd fine, but I couldn't get the music to work for some reason. Other than that it was pretty nifty. I might try Duke Nukem 3D later.

If I recall, Duke 3D doesn't run too great (either it was that or the beta, can't remember). I did try the first two Duke Nukem games. The first game plays very smoothly (alot more than it did on the real DOS) while the second plays at normal speed if you speed it up in the options.

I would try the various Duke Nukem 3D windows ports as they make the game run better (you can even download a package with all these awesome high-res textures with enhanced blood and gore effects applied to it). I may be wrong about Duke 3D since I had no reason to try it in DOSBox since I just play the port.

I prefer VDMSound and general Windows DOS emulation where I can get it, because DOSBox can run a little slower than I prefer.

Still, for me? Covert Action and QFG4. The only games from that era that stand the test of time that can't also be played in ScummVM. :P

I've used DOSBox to play Magic Carpet, The Elder Scrolls: Arena, and some others I can't remember. It usually works pretty well, but Arena was sort of hard to get going if I can remember correctly. Some games need to be sped up in order to be played at normal speed.

Where'd you manage to get Duke Nukem from? I couldn't find it anywhere.

I've mainly used it for Star Gunner, which is a great side scrolling space shooter from back in the day. You can get it for free from H.O.T.U.

3D Realms packaged the first two Duke Nukem games on the 1.3D version of the Duke 3D CD. If you got the Atomic Edition then you won't have it. I've seen plenty of copies being sold very cheap every now and then.

Tyrian 2000 & QFG. I might eventually try the Kyrandia Series and Scorched Earth if I have some spare time.

I wanna try to get the old Lucas Adventure games to run one of these days.
