Welcome, Welcome! This is the latest thread for CAG Goozex members and for our new friends who have questions.

What is Goozex and how does it work?

Goozex (http://www.goozex.com/go.asp?ref=www.cheapassgamer.com) is the new innovative system developed and tested by video-gamers for video-gamers. Goozex provides a unique trading platform that allows peer-to-multi-peer trading of physical goods. The company delivers the following services:
Peer-to-multi-peer trading platform
Community experience
Video game reviews and multi-media information on the productsThe system allows users to trade their video games in exchange for Goozex points, which can then be used to receive video games from other users. This helps gamers avoid paying enormous amounts of cash for games. Goozex runs on an internal currency that is dictated by points that are assigned to each game. The only payment that members make to Goozex is a payment of $1 transaction fee for each video game they receive. Learn more! (http://www.goozex.com/trading/asp/about_howitworks.asp)

Hi Terminator360 -- yes you'll get an email once you have been matched with a buyer. When you get that email you will click on the link and go to "My Library" where you will see a button to accept the trade. This will take you to another page where you can choose various options. Once you commit to a trade you will receive your points immediately.

Let me know if you have any other questions b/c that's why I'm here!

Magiic -- We can't cancel a match. Let me know if the seller commits.

question - when you send a game to someone, how many points from that game's value get credited to your account? for example - if you send a game that costs 500 points, do you get the full 500 points credited to your account or only 400 or 250 or what?

Hi cyko -- You get the full amount of points the moment you commit to a trade! So in your example, if you send out a 500 point game then you'll get 500 points immediately.

if there is sticker junk all over the boxes im not going to leave them perfect feedback. I leave g ot the good game but not in the condition i though. and they leave his email to me

THey send STAMP.com referals in all of their games and BEG People to leave tips.... too bad there wasnt a way to see who is sending games before you could request them cause i would stay far away from this person anymore.

so far got

Monoploy off them they said COMPLETE only got GAME
avaitar --- came complete but with stickers
wac a mole- was okay

but their attitude and all of the junk mailings they send with games could turn a lot of people off this site

ryoga79

Slidecage- yea, that would be a good idea. You get a game not in the way you want, so you can avoid getting games from them. The only problem I see with that is that you could potentially just pair up with someone and you two jack up each other's status, etc. Would be good to avoid certain peeps, but I could definitely see people abusing the hell outta it. lol.

Damn frakin Halo2!!! As tempted as I am to just remove it, I know it's out there and I need a copy so I can play it with my bro after I move.....but it keeps matching and timing out for over 2 weeks now......ACK!!!!

It would be nifty if there was an option to filter/block trades with specific users on a site.

It sounds good and it works for a site like eBay, where there are and always will be millions of users, but for Goozex in the near-term future I think a blocking tool might staunch trades that could ripple out and snowball into a noticable effect, when there will be very little trading due to users having (more or less) 'exclusive trader lists'.

Once Goozex grows to a determined number, I think user blocking would be good. But probably not now...leaving positive feedback as "not as expected" is still positive feedback, dang.

hmm I'm sitting on 2,050 points and not getting any matches :(

and a few games on my request list have available copies too

btw Gooze I saw that a copy of Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars -- Kane Edition was listed as available but I never saw it appear on the traded list, did the person put it on hold?

edit: also there was a copy of Final Fantasy Tactics?

Same deal for me except I've had no problems trading out my stuff. I just can't seem to get matched to people that don't suck.
I've been trying to take advantage of the free trade period to get some kids games for my son but all of these have been timing out:

- Spongebob the Movie(ps2)
- Spongebob : Lights Camera Pants(xbox)
- Ed, Edd & Eddy (ps2)
- Incredibles: Rise of the underminer(GC)

I've also had problems getting some games for myself, or at least I've had to wait until the 3rd matching cycle to finish a trade.

with my luck I'll get matched for these immediately after the free trade promo.

I saw this offer last time it came around, and now I'm tempted to join Goozex once again. However, there are two major things that concern me about this site, and I'm hoping that some current users can clarify things.

First, the points values assigned to games seem arbitrary. Why is Hotel Dusk (which can be purchased new) worth more than Electroplankton, which seems to have real scarcity and value?

Second, and this is more important, how big is the user pool and thus the availability of all games listed on the site? I've checked out a few of my wants as listed here on CAG, and less than half of them showed availability at the moment. I'll be damned if I'm going to ship off my games for some ephemeral points that could be worthless tomorrow if this site goes belly up unless I can be assured that the game I want will be available in a timely fashion.

I feel kind of like a crusty miner who's being told that some newfangled paper money note is worth the same as a silver coin I can bite to make sure it's good.

Hi Maxathon -- great points and maybe I can help (of course!)...

Points are assigned by an algorithm that takes into account current MSRP, supply and demand, and release date. Different weights are assigned to each value and this creates generates our points. We actively seek out games that significantly fall out of line with what's out there as an average used price and align them. We also keep up to date as best as we can to rare game titles.

The user pool is big enough to offer over 18,000 games and 5,000 unique titles. Your concern about having worthless points is a very well taken. What keeps us motivated to keep Goozex a success is the trust everyone is giving us to make their points valuable. This is a huge responsibility that we work hard to keep everyday.

So maybe I can propose this solution for you. Sign-up, enter the promo and make your requests. Send out one game -- earn the bonus points and then get in line for all your titles. You may be surprised at how fast you get matched, or your expectations are not met and you simply stop being active. You basically can try the site risk free!

i would say if your looking at joining 1 online trading site this will be the one to join. I been here since AUG 2006 ? (when they first opened) and i will tell you right now this is the best trading site that i ever came across.

if Most of your WANTS are games that just came out then yes your going to have problems finding them. Hell name one place that you can find a brand new game being traded

i doubt your pts would become useless overnight since this is a major player in the onliine game trades. Hell i have around 10,000 pts and im not worried one bit about the points becoming worthless. After this bunch im sending out later tonight i will have sent around 55 games out and probally gotten 20 in return ?? no clue

BUT i have gotten some great games

Dark alliance 2 ps 2
gallop racer 2006
marvel vs capcom 2 ps2
digimon world DS
avatir DS
contact DS

and a lot other smaller games i cant think off the top of my head.

i like keeping tons of pts out there so i know if someone would list a 1000 pt game there is a good chance that i would be first to get it.

belive me this is the site that you will want to stick with

I been with other sites (dont know if i can mention them here) and they have all gone under BUT GOOZEX STILL RULES and is getting bigger and bigger every day.

personally i dont really see how they can make a big enough profit to stay in business at a buck per trade but its the best place going

I signed up during the previous promotion and really enjoy the service. I do have a question though. There are listings for many 360 Arcade titles (and PSN titles) and I thought those were tied to the gamertag they were purchased with. If I'm not mistaken wouldn't that make it impossible to trade 360 Arcade titles? If this is the case I strongly suggest that Goozex delete those products from the list.

Still waiting on that survey :>
I think we should be able to reject senders, because it's important that we're allowed to read their feedback prior to accepting a trade from them.
Also, older games, rare games, etc are highly undervalued on goozex. The only things of decent value are brand new games. Anything older than a year should just be sold on ebay, and use the money from there to buy points on goozex.
Also, I'd like to note that if we request a game at a certain point value, we should get that game for the point value or the option to not commit to receiving the game if it has raised in value since we requested it.

Yeah, I know this is the wrong place for this probably.

i have two more questions about Goozex and i don't really know where else to ask them. so:

first - is there any way to tell how far back in line you are for a requested game? if i request a game how do i know how many other people requested it before me? for example - i saw a game i wanted that was available yesterday. i purchased enough points for it and requested the game. today, however, the game is no longer available. so, am i the second person in line for the game or the 22nd person in line for the game or what?

that leads to my second question - when exactly is a game taken down from available status. is it right away when someone requests it or only after the owner of it agrees to ship it?

Goozex
04-12-2007, 11:33 AM
adambomb -- will try to get survey out today and you raise some good points that have been talked about before -- we are having a meeting today to discuss next steps with a few of those

EdsonDJ -- We have removed all known MMO and Steam based PC games due to their ultra strict End User License Agreements (EULAs) -- PC Gamer interview with me on this subject a few months back...
And so Dark Messiah though not an MMO is associated with Steam.

cyko -- this is a great place to ask questions!
At the moment you don't know your position in the queue. We originally showed that, but when we expanded into Canada we faced a technical challange on how to accurately show your place on basically two different queues. We have developed a solution for this and hope to roll it out soon after we test it for accuracy and then code it.

A game is removed from available after one of the three things
1. The seller has committed to a trade
2. The seller has removed or placed on hold a game
3. The seller has timed out of requests and the game is automatically removed from his library

What's the deal with your customer service. I asked two questions yesterday without a response...not even an auto response. As someone who just enrolled and is deciding whether to continue with the service or not, what type of customer service do you provide and how long does it take to receive a response?
Thanks and good luck with the venture.

Hey guys, thanks for the answers. They were helpful, and I'm still thinking seriously about joining. It's funny, the thing that is keeping me from joining--the fact that it's not a straight barter system--is also the thing that makes Goozex really appealing: it creates a "cash" economy for trading games. It's a really interesting economic experiment, but obviously the key is having a reliable, trustworthy entity acting as the "bank" that sets values for items, etc. I'm keeping an eye out and if I have a free evening some time this week, maybe you'll all see my profile appear...

One other question though: how is the condition of games handled? For example, my copy of Trauma Center DS is complete, but there's a tear in the cover. Some people care deeply about this; is it just kind of a "you trades your games and you takes your chances" thing?

You could list it as complete, and when it's accepted, pm the buyer about it and see if they still want it. Personally I would list it as just the game and manual and include the case as a bonus. I'm sure people would want it even without the case.

There is a site I have found recently that trades books that I have been enjoying. They have a button to push when you have sent a game that generates an email to the recipient as a heads up the item has shipped. I think that would be a nice feature on goozex. Currently I PM the recipient when I ship, but I rarely get a similar message when I am expecting a game. Perhaps a button would generate more communication. Just a thought.

With the way Goozex works I don't personally expect everything to be in mint condition(I'm sure some do) rather just working condition. If you are looking for something for your collection or you're just a stickler for perfection, Goozex might not be the best place to aquire goods. Rather a more interactive system, be it ebay, gametz, craigslist, whatever. I like my games to come in a case, preferably with the manual but after that I don't expect anything more. Goozex is a place for me to get games I want to play, not aquire items for my collection. That's my two cents anyway, then again I suppose thats why we have the two positive answers, game as expected, game works but not as expected. Seems like a reasonable compromise I guess, my expectations are probably not as high as others. That's fine with me, thats what makes people great, different ideas.

The rules for the promo ask that you select under prefered gaming platform which bundle you'd like to win....if you didn't do so then please send an email to feedback @ goozex . com with your selection.

***PROMO FOR GOOZEX USERS***

Attention members: we have a pretty big promo for our current members and CAG is the first to know about it. Over the past 9 months we have had a lot of users come to Goozex and many of our best are CAGers. We want to learn more about who makes up Goozex and how we can improve the site for you! We have put together a survey that takes about 4 minutes to complete. At the end of the survey are three prizes to enter for:

1. A $60.00 Amazon gift certificate (automatically entered for completing survey)
2. One of 20 pre-selected video games
3. Bonus 200 points (automatically entered for complete survey)

Here is the link to our survey and thanks in advance for helping us out!

One of the questions in the survey asks about the possibility of User Adjusted Points Prices. What would that be? I assume you aren't talking about negotiating prices? At least I hope not.

No, not bartering...otherwise you can go to GameTZ for that. We have been tickering with an interesting idea to give our members more power in determining the point values to a certain extent.

The purpose of that question is to really prioritize our To Do list with site development.

Hmm...thats interesting. I've always thought a human eye is what is missing from the point system. I know how much time I spend looking at 360 games, many times I'd like to go in and "fix" a few of the prices that seem a little off. If you had a system that could take input and use it properly that would be awsome.

The purpose of that question is to really prioritize our To Do list with site development.

The only problem with this is that it's hard to figure out the perfect compromise to having a system that is both effective and resilient to abuse. I was thinking of having a system that allows a user to say whether the current points level is too low or too high, and their suggested point value, and when a game gets X adjustment queries, it would be forwarded to you and could then be manually adjusted. The only problem is knowing what X should be. Too high, and no games get adjusted, and too low, and you're flooded with extra work.

Not a complaint, but I noticed that I got skipped on The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past/Four Swords (I got an email saying I had insufficient trade credits, then saw it on the recently traded list during the free trade week). Just something I thought was interesting. I'll probably restock trade credits/points later this week, now that Paypal has been added.

I like this idea....something that we could report to the powers that be, to adjust the price points more fairly for both the sender and receiver. I like this idea so much that I wish that I had placed it in my comments in the survey.

As both currently have games available as complete and are high point games, I would assume that it shouldn't be too hard to get as long as you have the required points. Most people waiting are probably building points (or building and spending points) and haven't gotten the required amount yet. That would be my assumption.

When exchanging PM's, it would be nice to have a sent / received folder in our profile, or at least the option to email my outgoing PM's to my email account. It's a nice bit of reasurrance to be able to go back and re-read what you've sent to someone, and I never think to copy the text and save it somewhere before clicking send.

How about a point system based on the actual worth of the game in US currency (by the dollar). Data can be collected from sources like weekly sales, price drops, average price sold on auction sites (eBay, Yahoo, etc.) & CAG (which is a great source for what gamers are willing to pay for a specific game).

Also, would it be possible to be able to have the user set up deals through the system instead of having to wait for a match. I see a lot of games that are requested that I don't have the chance to trade.

macdude22

Just curious, but what would people do if they received a greatest hits from a game they requested?

If they arn't separate UPCs, I wouldn't care then because it's the same game. I come here to trade games to play, with little hassle. Works great very little human interaction needed. When I need something for my collection, I go elsewhere because very much human interaction is likely needed.

Some people don't like greatest hits games at all, that's fine by me, but for those folks I don't think Goozex is the best service to meet their needs.

That said I'd think some sort of differentiation between GH and Regular copies would be ideal, since Original copies tend to be more valuable. This is entirely selfish not because I mind GH copies but because if I have an original I'd like the maximum points. Maybe Goozex can attach some sort of check box that you check on games that says GH or not. Might mess up the matrix match though, I don't know, I'm an idea man, not logistics personal.

ryoga79
04-12-2007, 09:18 PM
Since there are some games that are different between the regular and GH/PH/PC games, I like how goozex has alot of those tagged already (DBZ Budokai 3, Fable, COD2, Morrowwind, etc) so I know if I"m getting the original or the GH version. I agree that I dont' care if it's GH/PH/PC/regular, as long as I have the game and it plays fine. I got in my first PH game the other day off goozex, and I really don't care.

Plus, some of those GH/PH/PC games are better then the original release of said game (see the games I listed, or DMC3 SE).

What I'm wondering if why am I matched for this game fro over 2 weeks now and I keep seeing that it's been "recently traded" and yet I keep timing out....makes no sense, unless it's in another region that it keeps being traded in....

Normally I'd say 2-3 days extra, well thats ok people tend to be busy folks. I know I've sent out a couple days late on occasion. Buuuuut he didn't apologize for sending late. When I sent late I apologized and tossed in a Wii Temp Tattoo. On top of that the individual BEGGED for a frackin tip. A you sent it late. B why should you be tipped for completing the transaction as agreed.

I sent a tip once, The game came new shrink wrapped, and came fast. I dropped a tip on that. When I got gears of war I got a ton of extra stuff with it the guy sent, Had tips been avalable I would have dropped one too. In general I won't, and I wouldn't expect anyone to tip me for completing a transaction as agreed.

Not sure how to handle this. Mebby slap them with the second 5 point feed back instead of the usual 10? At least wait 3 extra days after getting it to give feedback. Seems only fair.

Like I said, normally I'm pretty easy going about things like this but that whole story rubbed me the wrong way.

You don't even have to print out the shipping label from Goozex, you can hand write the info if you wish. For postage you can either go to the counter at the post office(which I do often) and have them print the postage(you'll probably want to send it first class mail), use the automated mailing machine that many post offices have(it will calculate & print postage for you), or weigh your package on the scale at the post office to see how much postage it needs and use stamps. Either way just dop it in a blue drop box or th email chute inside your post office.

The automated machine is pretty convenient on weekends.

kklems

I find that a padded #2 bubble mailer with a PS2 game in weighs between 6 and 8 ounces. It depends on how thick the manual is. You also have to round up so 5.1 ounces ships for the 6 ounce size.

BTW I think the rates for light 1st class mail will go up quite a bit percentage wise May 14 so media mail maybwind up being a better deal

dude shipped it 3 days after they said they would ship it

I don't think a few days is that big of a deal...actually seems to be pretty normal for the site. I'd prefer if everyone shipped EARLY like I do, but I'm a realist and know that it won't happen.

I was matched with a new user for a PSP game a couple weeks ago. They said they would ship by April 1. April 6 comes around and the guy sends me a private message asking me not to forget to leave feedback for the game, so I assume it must be in the mail. April 12 comes around and the game arrives in the mail postmarked April 9. Now that's mailing pretty damn late. A few more days and I probably would have marked it not received and assumed it was lost in the mail or the guy was a deadbeat.

As for feedback, I left him positive +10 points, but I put a note in there about his slow shipping. Since I received the game complete as requested, there's not really a feedback option that takes shipping time into consideration, so I just left him full positive.

I usually wait 15-20 days before leaving a negative and I'll wait until the very last day to leave a negative as long as some one sends me a private message telling me the game is on the way. If I e-mail them once the game is 2 weeks late and I get no reply, then I assume they aren't going to send and leave them a negative.

It also doesn't help that I was matched up with it on the morning that it was the Amazon Deal of the Day, so I passed it up on a great deal since it was coming to me from a goozex user.

It isn't coming from Canada.

First PM that he sent me after I sent my first PM just asking if he shipped it yet:

Yep - it was a little late going, but I upgraded the postage from media mail to 1st class to make up for it. Its also a brand new, sealed copy instead of a used copy.

I just wish he would of sent me a PM that he shipped late, instead of me having to follow up on it. He did say since he shipped late that he upgraded shipping for me from media mail to 1st class shipping, that is nice of him since last time I sent out a DS game in a trade on CAG was cheaper to go 1st class then media mail
He did say the game was new so now I know the reason he shipped late was because he is most likely a resaler and didn't have game on hand when he set up the trade. Like I said before this guy has great feedback and is probably a top trader on Goozex. Hell I would have been ok of this I would have got an email that he shipped late but instead I get this after just asking, "What day did you ship so I can know when to expect it?"

I believe it was the 10th. Just remember, it was supposed to go media mail and ship the 6th, so its only been a little over a week not two weeks so its not even late if it were shipped media, which takes 14-21 days

I know I'm being a little bitchy about this but for my first incoming trade this doesn't sit right with me. I would have bought it off of Amazon in the first place if I wasn't matched up for it on the same day as it was the Amazon deal of the day. Then it turns out that the guy I'm getting it from just did the Deal of the Day and is sending it to me. How cheese dick is that?

How long does a package usually take to get from Canada to the US? I was matched to a new user in Canada for a Dreamcast game and it will be 14 business days tomorrow since he shipped it out.

I figured he has until tues or wednesday then I'd report it as a no show. It sucks because I passed on a low priced used copy at a local store since I figured I'd already be receiving it. I'm mainly worried because he/she is a new user and has no feedback.

I'd say that's pretty a long wait, regardless... my first experience with a shipper from Canada was 4 days from shipped to when I received the game.... then again, of 8 games that I've had shipped to me, 2 of them never arrived... so those odds aren't too great either. But I think I've just had bad luck getting matched with certain people.
As far as your match goes, I'd say give it a little longer for hopes sake, and try contacting him... see what's going on. Since it's been 14 business days already, chances don't look good. Longest its taken for any game that's actually come to me has been 6 business days.

It isn't coming from Canada.

First PM that he sent me after I sent my first PM just asking if he shipped it yet:

How cheese dick is that?

the person shipping says
location: Ontario, Canada

so i would say its shipping from canada : )

hey gooze, I just accepted two matches one for Halo 2 and one for Psychonauts

the traders were Blackcoyote and Akdar

but the shipping address for both is

Akdar's is
name: R. Nebesky
Silver Spring, MD

Blackcoyote's is
name: M. Nebesky
Silver Spring, MD

I mean they both have really good feedback but it just seems weird that someone would have two accounts is all so thought I should point it out since the Terms of Use did state "Users may register only one User ID per household."

It may not be all that kind to publish someone's full street address on an internet forum. The user names should be sufficient to investigate on Goozex's side.

Probably two seperate people if they have good feedback, roommates or whatever. I wouldn't worry about it. They can cram a lot of college kids in one place. I've seen 8 once in a 6 bedroom house.

i've only sent and recieved one game thus far. i put mine down for shipping in three days and then ended up shipping it out the next day anyway. the guy had it by the time i was supposed to have shipped it. i got a tip for my first trade! haha
I'll always choose to send in three days regardless. I figure it's better that the requestee gets the game earlier than expected rather than later.

If both users have decent feedback, then I'd assume it's two relatives living in the same house, rather than two accounts from the same person. I'd figure that if he or she wanted two accounts, they'd at least have different last names for some ambiguity.

edit (apparently, I took too long, and am reiterating the above post.)

Did anyone get matched for a trade over the weekend? I have 2 send slots and 3 recieve slots open right now with games listed and requested. That's kinda wierd since I've been on quite a tear lately and have been sending or recieving a game everyday. Then this weekend it kinda just went dead for me... Of course I'm sure everyone goes through slumps and all, but I was wondering if there was an interruption in the matching or whatever...

I still believe that's against the rules.

When Goozex first started up both my wife & myself set up Goozex accounts (she wanted to trade and choose her own games), but her account was deleted and she was sent a message that they were sorry but it was one account per household.

I would assume that rule still stands.

So long as there's good feedback for both of them (and it's not just from each other!!) I'd say not to worry bout it.

edit- after thinking about it, I take back my previous statement. One account should definitely be closed. If they're abusing signup bonuses (referrals and such), the bonus that one account got for signing up the other should be yanked out too. If you're going to play, you gotta play fair.

Yeah goozex is GREAT for finally getting to all those old games I wanted to try, but didn't want to buy or rent. Now I just look at it as a nearly free unlimited rental. Get the game... Play it till sick of it and throw it back up for the points. Rinse, Repeat. The only thing it takes is some postage and patience.

Hey everyone...sorry for the long delay in getting back...been swamped with work that kept me away...
Let me try to get to the questions:

Bayard43 -- you asked how we determine points and why points increase...we have an algorithm running in the background that takes into account msrp, supply and demand, and release date. When you see point prices go up it's most times due to increased demand for a game. 300 point swings shouldn't happen...please report anything like that to feedback @ goozex. com

McToots -- I have replied to your question via feedback

simpsonps121 -- email feedback @ goozex . com to let me know which bundle you want to be registered for.

slidecage -- our policy about late games is that you should expect to receive your games in a reasonable time. Our guarantee covers this and you can report game not received.

da408boss -- if you are unsure about how much postage to pay, then we highly recommend going to the post office to pay accurate postage. Remember that postage will go up in May in the US.

spoo -- I just checked into that trade...and I know that the seller is a great trader...I hope you get the game as expected!

pck tlnt -- thanks for the heads up!

graywolf -- those are very very legit accounts ;)
Basically, the founders had to setup multiple accounts for testing purposes...

Manchowder -- we still do not allow multiple accounts among family, roommates, friends, etc...

On a side note, today the Goozex team spent the day on the University of Maryland campus. We were looking for some comp sci interns when we saw the news about VA Tech. Quite a number of people have Kingdom Hearts II up on their requests... however there is the possibility that other people than yourself have the game up for offer, and there is always the chance that the people who want the game will end up getting matched with someone else who offers the game rather than yourself; also, while people may have requested the game, a number of them may not have enough points to purchase it... taking all this into account, it might take time for you to get matched up with someone for trade... also, you have to give the system time to match up requests with offers.... how long have you had it up?

It didnt happen on Goozex but through GameTZ. I had a game ship out second week of March before I left on my cruise at the end of March, hoping it would arrive before it came. it didnt. That right there was 2 weeks. 3rd week, I was away on cruise and when I got back home, game was there. So it took 2-3 weeks to get my game even though it was shipped normal.

When you go to leave feedback if you really thought the trade was fantastic you can click a box that sends the sender a 50 point tip. It is by no means customary or expected, but some times a user will go above and beyond on a trade and it's nice to let them know they are appreciated.

I have kingdom hearts II up and no one seems to want it or want to match up for it. I am not sure but I would like to trade it to get points thanks
I think KH2 had a high request rate and low availiablity rate BEFORE it went GH - now that it's gone GH, it seems availiablity of the game multiplied since it is a game that can be had for $15 after Best Buy's gamer gift card. The $20 price (before GGC) is a universal price drop - not a YMMV clearance like the games from last December's Toys R Us clearance (Atelier Iris 2, Metal Saga, etc.)

So a savvy trader can get the game new and GH for about $15 and trade it for 650 points (at $5 for 100 pts, that's $32.50 equivalent). I know the points for it dropped from 750 to 650 since either demand dwindled and/or supply increased.

You might be in that line for a while to make a match...I can imagine people putting the game on hold until it reaches the 300-350 pt mark now.

And about tips...when the feature was first implemented, it seemed I was receiving and sending tips left-and-right. Now a tip is rare for me to receive, even though I continue to send games sealed, packed safely and keep in communication with the users.

macdude22
04-17-2007, 12:23 PM
In general I only send tips if it's an extraordinary trade. They send some extra promo materials or something like that. I ship fast and securely, and let the end user know what's going on, but I don't expect a tip for doing what I 'm supposed to do. I hope others don't either. No doubt there are users that are more liberal with their tipping than I am and more conservative as well.

I personally wait 3 days after it's arrived and then I send them a nice email saying that DC# shows it arrived, if they have not actually received the game to please contanct the post office and if they have, to please leave feedback. Nothing irks me more than when I get a game, check my email that night when I get back from work and have a message from the sender asking why I haven't left feedback yet.

To me, that is very annoying. A person has a life outside of Goozex and even after receiving a game may not sit down to leave feedback fro 24 hours. If a person sends me an email like that right away, which they have, I will mention it in my feedback or perhaps even wait an extra day to leave something.

I sent a game to canada once (ebay) that was held at a post office and the buyer had to pick it up, but I don't think that usually happens. The main problem shipping and receiving from Canada is how long it takes to receive. Remember to send the buyer a pm stating when you shipped the game, and remind them it'll probably take longer than domestic shipping.

Well I think the know where it is coming from if they click my user name. I sent him a nice PM explaining everything and just ask that if he does get the game to please email goozex and ask them to reverse the feedback. I'm not too upset that I got a negative, but I'd rather not bother with it any longer.

When I get a request I will see where they are from. If Canada, I will just deny to ship it out. Easy.

Priority mail usually arrives in 2-3 days, compared to first class (2-10) and media mail (2-24).

Thanks. I was thinking of shipping through priority mail when i printed my label but 4.05 is expensive compared to 1.50 first class. What do you guys do?

First Class is fine, seriously on average it takes 3 days. Media Mail is like 5 days. No reason to plunk down for Priority. I mean essentially we are all getting next to free gaming. If you want to spend the extra dough thats fine but I'ts been my experience that Priority isn't all that much faster than First Class.

the Burger King game you sent me still hasnt arrived :(
I marked it as recieved just because I know you are a stand up guy and I wanted to free a trade slot up. Is there something I missed that would slow down mail. I have like 7 games coming from the states that are all approaching the three week mark. I rarely have anything take over 2 weeks at the very most.

Well, today was the income tax deadline, so theoretically there was an above-average amount of mail in the system in the last week or so. But I don't think it would impact things more than a day or so (unless shipped today).

Btw this is all crossborder stuff coming to me as I live in Canada. But I just can't figure out why so many things are taking this much time to get here all from different parts of the country. It's bugging me. Especially because as a result I missed out on the whole freetrade thing because my account has been tied up with most of these since the end of march.

those shipment times are slightly misleading (officially its 2-4 for first class and 2-9 for media mail but honestly its somewhere in between the official and G33's times)

I always ship first class :-) it should never take more than a week

I like first class, it is cheap and relatively fast. I have sent items to Canada (ebay) and I never had an item take longer than a week. I don't know what to say magiic.

That's been a while. I thought that made it to you awhile back. Honestly, that is the first time I've ever shipped outside of the US. I took it to the USPS counter to make sure I did everything right. It's strange that you have a number of outstanding packages though.

Ya it's crazy, Im sure it will get here at some point I figure when I left you feedback I'd see it in a day or two along with a handful of other stuff, but no, nothing. I havent seen any of the mail I expected like a week plus ago. I just can't figure out where all of it is. I have a bunch of people messaging me asking have you gotten it yet. :( Hopefully one of these days everything just pours in.

I swear I must be on a terrorist watch list or something. They're probably all sitting at customs. I had them hold a box of DVD's I bought for TWO MONTHS once. I also had them hold football tickets I sold till a week after the game.

What really irks me about sending to Canada is that I can't get delivery confirmation. That is the number one thing you can do to protect yourself from someone saying they didn't receive a game that actually got there.

I checked half.com and they have like a billion copies up, even if I could unload it at the 24 it seems to be worth at half.com after their BS 15%+taking half of your shipping credit it barely seems worth the trouble if I can get maybe $15 out of it at LameStop. I guess maybe I'll call over and see what the going rate is on it. I wish I was still near a Preplayed. Those guys were the best(I think they only have 3 or 4 stores) but they gave you a good price for your trades, and their stuff was in good condition. They employed some finishing equipment so that they could resurface disks if they had to. Pretty much disks coming out of there were like new.

/OFFTOPIC

Does anyone know if the $50 Xbox trade in has started at GameStop? I have one to unload, the last of my games is on the BC list now.

The only way I know of is to catch it between matches and put it on hold. A game like crackdown will get matched to the next trader the next time the match script is run. Then take it off hold. I've been able to catch it most of the time. It's tough when it's in the middle of the night though.

If this is the third time you've matched, I wouldn't do anything since it will remove that game from the seller's available games after the 3rd time out.

I was matched up with Magical Starsign on/ and still haven't received it yet (4/3/07). This is my first incoming game from Goozex and it is leaving a sour taste in my mouth.

It also doesn't help that I was matched up with it on the morning that it was the Amazon Deal of the Day, so I passed it up on a great deal since it was coming to me from a goozex user.

The real kicker is that the user has great feedback :???:

This is leaving a real sour taste in my mouth since this is me testing the waters with goozex, I sent the user a PM today to see what the deal is, I will update as soon as I know more.

This will happen...and it's not a reflection on Goozex but on that particular user. There are plenty of bad users on Goozex, like on any other trade site, but the good news is that Magical Starsign is a common game on Goozex, so once you leave negative feedback for that user, you can jump back to the front of the line for that game and the next person that sends it to you shouldn't be a deadbeat. Now when it's a rare PSX RPG that only shows up on the site every 6 months, that sucks, but with a common DS game, you should have no trouble getting matched for it a second time.

I understand where you are coming from, but on a user decided trade system I can read feedback and feel it out on a potently shady trader.

I'm sorry that you all have not been getting as many matches as you want...well, I hope that this encourages you all to go out and refer your gaming friends about Goozex. The more great gamers and traders that there are that are on Goozex trading their games, the better it is for all of us involved. Convince them that this is an incredible trading service and show them how great the point system works compared to the craptacular trade-in prices at EB. Sorry to sound like a shill for Goozex, but once I was convinced of how great their system, customer service, and community has been...I've been a loyal Goozexer. And they've got the CheapyD endorsement to boot.

So get out there and refer your video gaming friends up. Refer those suckers at EB and GameStop. Go on, get out there.

*sigh* Story time. I just traded out Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (Includes GBA Cable), I listed this as disk only because I didn't have the cable to send out(at least I don't know where it is). So it's listed as disk only, but in reality I sent out the whole game with manual and case in excellent condition. The user received it and left positive feedback which is good, but the comment left a sour taste in my mouth.

Comment:
i thought i was supposed to receive the gba cable as stated which i didnt.

Wrong, It was listed as disk only. Which means I'm only required to stick a disk in a piece of paper and mail it. Now when someone looks at my feedback they are going to see that comment and wonder about me when I always take extra care of my games, as any one I've traded to can attest they tend to be in very good condition. And I try to go above and beyond when I can, slip in an extra goodie now and then.

My question is this, can Goozex add a slot on the feedback page that shows what the level the game was listed at? Or a method to post a rebuttal to feedback? I'd settle for the listing of disk. Then someone sees that feedback says hey, this guy doesn't meet his obligations, no wait, he listed it as disk only, never mind the user must not have understood disk only.

Long rant, short story but in this arena our reputations are all we have for people to trust on and I'd like to keep mine as spick and span as possible.

I just reread my post and edited it to make it legible. #-o

Then why should anyone ship on time if their is no recourse? If I had a trade on here (CAG) and the "seller" shipped my game a week and half after we agreed on the trade I would give them a neutral unless they had a good reason for shipping late, or at least had good communication about shipping late.

I just want "Goozex" to tell me what their policy is on this issue. I would like to know what the offical policy is on this. I will leave appropriate feedback with the official policy.

Well as far as I could find there wasn't, could be wrong but all I could find was this listing and an Action Replay listing. Regardless I listed it as disk only which means a user isn't required to send anything but a disk wrapped in paper. I sent the user an email to see if we can work something out to have Goozex remove the offending comment, I'd go so far as to take the game back and expunge the trade completely. I'm probably making a mountain out of a molehill but I'm sure others with great feedback wouldn't appreciate that kind of comment either when going above what is required for the transaction. At least I'm off to a conference today, overtime pay, free food, and paid travel. Thats a happy note in my book.

Hey everyone...

homeland -- there is no way to cancel a match to offer the seller a reasonable chance to earn points for a trade -- as noted you can catch it between matches, but our system wasn't designed for that reason

Terminator360 -- you also have a notification of low points/credits when you log onto goozex -- it's at the top of the home page

magiic -- no timeline at the moment for retro games...unlikely we'll do actual hardware/console trading anytime soon -- those have a lot of problems in terms of pricing and quality issues.

ddrlenz -- as a side note, marvel vs. capcom 2 is probably our highest traded rare game...saw that move through several times

lurknomore -- thanks for the words! I owe you a beer at the next DC CAG meet up...

macdude22 -- Members can currently view how they requested a game by going into "My Requests" --> "Completed Requests" and then the little green icon is marked as how it was requested. But I do understand your frustration with a comment like that. The fact is that disc only means exactly that. We can think of a more presentable format to show that information.

spoo -- our official policy is that if you receive a game before the system times out for you or you leave negative feedback and the game is in working order, then we consider the trade to be successfully completed. Once the seller drops a game off with USPS it is out of everybody's control. That is why we give trades over 2 weeks to officially close. Whoops, I should have been a little clearer about what I meant. I meant some indication of what it was listed at on the feedback history pop up window that other members can see of other members. The one if someone goes into my account page and clicks on Feedback History they get that popup window with the comments about that user. Perhaps somewhere in there you could indicate what the selling trader listed the game as. So then someone viewing a users comments could see a comment like the one I got, and then they can look at what the selling trader had listed the item as. I think it would be a usefull piece of information on the feedback history page. Thanks goozex for the quick feedback and the verification that I properly listed the game. When did Silent Hill 2 for PS2 become a 550 point game? It was only 100-200 points when I added it to my wantlist. It's worth maybe 300-400 points top in used condition based on half.com, Ebay, and Amazon.

I still think there should be something in place to let members know when a games on their wantlist jumps 300-400 points in price so they can delete it, because I feel ripped off paying 550 points for a game that's easy to find in the $15 range. I definitely would have deleted it off my list if I knew it had jumped in price.

Maybe the site should automatically put any game on your wantlist on hold if the point price increases?
