Anyway, I download it and its pretty cool. The lag online kind of sucks, but everything else is good. The game is very frustrating though.

UMK3 was one of my favorite XBLA games. I got 200/200 points and I've played something like almost 1000 matches so far. It ran well online and that made me enjoy it even more than SF2.

This game runs well online, but you can't setup quarter match rooms where others can spectate. It "lags" offline for some unknown reason, and the menu interface is REALLY UGLY. Plus, after playing this game, UMK3 is just a better game, with better graphics. characters, and moves.

So I'm guessing it's not worth the download? I was thinking about it but I played the crap out of Ultimate and don't know if I want to go back to 2. Even though I think 2 is the better game from what you're saying the port is crappy.

I do agree that MK2 doesn't hold up so well after UMK3. Shame, MK2 used to be my favorite..

MKIII was much more freeing with all the fast moves and easy combos.

this thing has a cell processor, a blue ray drive, a bunch of ram, and it cooks burgers, but they couldn't get it to fucking run MK2 perfectly? This is just as ridiculous as only having one stage in MK3 online. I hate lazy developers. The MK series has suffered enough...

Not sure what's wrong with your games-- mine plays fine on and off line. Have you tried playing with the controller plugged in? It might be a bluetooth problem.

The nostalgia factor is great and every one falls for my 60% combo with Sub Zero.

Just finished playing online for the first time.

No lag in any of the matches except for one, and it was only slight, and few a few seconds, then gone.

Not bad, online fighters have come a long way.

I don't like the way the leaderboards are set up, and trying to play with a friend is clunky.
Reminds me of Mario Kart online with the DS...

Other than that, lag still hasn't been a problem, and I can hold my own with average players. hehe.

Mileena has such easily spammable moves. Just switching things up between the roll and the teleport kick, they're both so fast as to be near impossible to predict. I don't think either one gives you an easy uppercut or combo setup when blocked either. Then the Sai shot works on the ground and in the air, so if you keep that charged, people can't jump in.

With jax he's got that huge standing high kick, the ground pound is so easy to catch people with, the fireball is large and comes out quickly for a lot of damage. At least he's got a stubby low range roundhouse.

I thought that Kung Lao was the #1 character in MK2, with his teleport kick and that down and high kick garbage in midair. Maybe he's better but just harder to use.

Yeah all those are plusses for Jax, plus a close-in HP that beats out Uppercuts and instantly dizzies your opponent. Not to mention jump kicks into the air back breaker. You can catch grounded opponents with a deep jump kick or turn around deep jump kick into the backbreaker often as well. Throw in some a hunk of useful special moves that you didn't mention (multi-throw, f, f + lp) and you have a broken character.

Mileena is just ridicilous and I don't think we need to clarify why she is so good.

edit: Kung Lao is decent, and his mid-air 2 hit combos do ridicilous damage. I don't think that he's close to the Mileena or Jax level though.
