1. With all the defective units, should I wait to buy until the dust has settled?

2. If there is a way to check the number at the store, how do I do that?

3. Some people have had bad luck with the RedOctane deal, what is the best deal right now for buying?

Thanks in advance.

I think the best bet at this point is to try to get the game at a Sam's Club or Costco, both of which I think are about $10-12 under normal retail. I was able to get it at Circuit City with the free MS Points card which was IMO the best deal for the game, but that was only for launch week and probably sold out day 1 anyway

lol seriously?

Apparently it's quite the big deal. A lot of people on here have posted about there guitar crapping out. Even mine is dying, or the whammy bar is anyways.

Well here is my suggestion: Since Guitar Hero barely gets a discount (if any) go for it, if you can find it...Great game, and the only error is some uncommon defects

BOTH models of the 360 guitar have problems with the whammy bar (not just the #95055 like everyone thinks).

So there's not really any way to tell which ones have problems without testing it out. Your best bet is just to pick one up and hope it works. If you are unlucky and get a bad guitar controller, you can always fix it yourself. It's an easy fix and only takes 10 minutes to do (I did it myself last weekend and it worked great).

And if you don't want to bother with taking your guitar apart to fix it, you can always bring it back to the store and exchange it for another one.

Can't you buy it with a warranty? I know most stores like Best Buy and even Gamestop offer a warranty for games. It's usually like $2.00 or $3.00 bucks.
