Do it for the children and the evil yellow-eyed wolverined porcupines .

There won't be any yellow-eyed wolverined porcupines left if you don't pick up Fire Emblem (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3491920&postcount=62). Wolverined children are a distinct possibility, though like most mutants, they will probably be hostile.

Did anyone else that ordered through the Capcom store get a backordered notice? I don't mind the game coming late since I've got a few (more like a ton) to go through first, but I'll be pissed if the bonus lenticular puzzle doesn't come along with it.
Well, dammit, I was gonna skip this one. I figured it was all hype and would come out to 6's and 7's like Dewy and any number of other Wii games. So for once I didn't freaking preorder. Now I know my GC won't have any or if they do it will be for the one guy that preordered. Guess I'll give 'em a call tomorrow just to check.

So what does aeveryone predict the legs will be on this game? I have a feeling it could be somewhat long lived if even more reviews come in at these ratings. If it keeps up in the high-80s on GameRankings, and impressions aren't filled with disappointment when the game hits, I could see it having longer legs than most recent games. The price point will help initially, and positive word-of-mouth would help thereafter.
Unfortunately it has little chance of charting with 4 Guitar Hero SKUs filling October. Odds are those will be top 10, with Halo, maybe R&C, Wii Play, and three slots for DS/360 (Brain Age, Orange Box, etc) to fight over. Hopefully GAF puts it as one of their specific games to get NPD data for, I'll be very curious to see how it does over the next two weeks.

I hope sales are strong for it.
Best Buy doesnt show it online, Gamestop is still in "prerelease" mode.
Finally Capcom will be rewarded with persistent Nintendo support (beyond RE4 of course).

Hmm... I just saw this on the overview page on IGN:
Prior to the start of a stage, the game shares with you the percentage of testers who were able to clear the stage on their own, so you can get a feel for the difficulty.
That's kind of a cool difficulty gauge. Hopefully it wasn't something that was only in early builds.

Wow I have been following this game a little bit thanks to the IGN guys but I wasn't expecting it to get this good of reviews. It looks like a lot of fun and I think I will have to pick it up. There are starting to be a few hidden gems show up on the Wii recently. Two weeks ago I bought MLB: Power Pros and that game turned out to be awesome. And now it sounds like this game is sweet too. OH HOW MY WALLET HURTS!!!
Anybody get this game yet? Really want to use my $20 CC gift card but will settle for just getting the game! 8-)

User Impressions From IGN:
If I didn't have a pile of work to do I'd be back at home playing this gem. Take it from me, if you liked Wind Waker, you will dig this game. The environments are so lively, and the animation and art style is superb. I haven't got past the opening quest yet, but I can already tell I'm going to love this game. The expressions and lively character designs (talking about aside from the main cast) remind a lot of LoZ:WW's characters.
So far the sound and music are a little bland, nothing too atmospheric or epic, but I guess they get the job done. The real show here is the beautifully imagined environments, and the motion implementation, which feels to me like it's finally part of the game, and not a sidethought like it was in Metroid Prime 3. You actually have to time your motions, and some tasks take a few tries to get the hang of. It really feels like a new dimension, which I haven't experienced since Mario 64 pioneered analog movement within 3D stages. I'm really amazed it sells for $40, when it would easily bring in $50.

yeah well if victorious boxers is any indication all the big chains claimed it was coming on 10/23/07, Some smaller chains got it on release day (10/16/07) and Best Buy just got it yesterday... amazingly this morning Best Buy online changed the release date back to the correct date of 10/16/07... I figure at this point why did they change it back?

Hasn't Play given reviews before that have been completely off base?
Oh yeah. It was that Lair review where they gave the game a 9 out of 10 when the rest of the industry reviews ranged it from average to broken. Hence the, "you don't know to play it; let us teach you with these brochures and big expensive artbooks (please give our game a better review grade)" quest Factor 5 and Sony went on.

I think it's pretty funny that most people on CAG claim reviews are meaningless and yet here's a game that seems to have hit critical mass with the reviews and now everyone is buying it (me included ;)). So, apparently, reviews DO make a difference. I bet if this was coming in with 6-7, or even 7-8 scores all around, there wouldn't be this avalanche of CAG purchases before the game even hits.

That makes a 8.8 across the big 3.
Thankfully, Zack & Wiki is far more than the sum of its pieces, and it absolutely succeeds despite any minor problems. It's a huge world of wonderful puzzles to solve, with creative approaches to even the most mundane solutions; it's also a big game, and it goes on far longer than even the story would imply (though some people may never beat the last couple stages without assistance). Its biggest hurdle will be finding its audience, as it's the kind of game you don't know you're dying for until you play it (and its youthful aesthetic doesn't do it any favors). But it's worth looking into for every Wii owner, and if it isn't the best game for the system, it's at least the most "must-play" Wii experience next to Wii Sports (http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3150587). It's unmatched as a cognitively and creatively challenging experience, and just about anyone can pick it up and enjoy and appreciate it for what it does...even if they won't get very far.

It's not that reviews are meaningless, you just need to know how to interpert them and weed out the bad reviews from the good ones. The explanations that go along with the score are actually a lot more important than the score itself.

As others have said, this might be a game that Capcom only sends a set (30,000) amount to retailers expecting the game to bomb, only for it to sell out ala Phoenix Wright. Then we wait month after month for more copies to hit shelves.

When a game reviews such as this, it's worth noting. I look to them more for trends (hey, everyone is giving it a 9, looks like a winner!), and specific complaints if they're negative.

Basically reviews are more important for new IPs.Developer plays a factor, too. The importance of the review for "new Naughty Dog platformer" is minimal. Naughty Dog knows its shit, and the odds of the game not being worth buying is very lew. "New SEGA platformer", however...?

Kotaku on the hypewagon:
http://kotaku.com/gaming/zack-%26-wiki/please-go-buy-zack--wiki-tomorrow-314305.php
We know, it's October, there are a ton of games vying for your time and money right now. But this goes beyond just you. See, Zack & Wiki is pretty awesome. But because it looks a little childish, because the concept's a little hard to explain concisely and because it's coming out at this time of year (tomorrow), there's a good chance it may be forgotten. Totally overlooked. Don't you dare let that happen. If you've got a Wii and will be up tomorrow, get off your ass and go buy a copy. We don't want to be writing about this game in 2-3 years time, listening to you all bitch about how much sealed copies cost and how bad you want to play it. Now's your chance.
I'm glad this game is getting good reviews all around. I've had this preordered and I am going to pick it up tomorrow, but it is reassuring that reviewers really seem to like this game.

GameSpot summary:
Good:
Clever and unique puzzles that are challenging without being overly difficult
Plenty of different stages to play through, some with multiple solutions
Sharp graphics with excellent art style
Good use of the Wii Remote.
Bad:
Story and characters aren't especially interesting
Sometimes grating voice work.
The other sub-9s are Play and GI which aren't online, and GameTrailers which I won't watch.

So what are the negatives being said about this game in the reviews? Especially the 8.x reviews?
GI:
Concept: Hide serious puzzle challenges under a super cute veveer.
Graphics: Crisp cel-shaded characters and imaginative environments definitely impress
Sound: You'll want to strangle Wiki to silence his high-pitched baby voice.
Playability: Puzzles utilize a wide variety of motion controls, some of which work way better than others.
Entertainment: If you can get past the wacky vibe, these innovative puzzles will fry your mind.
Replay Value: Moderate
_____________________________
The review itself says nothing negative - it kind of summarizes the concept and then gives Capcom props for taking a risk, and whatever. In addition, there is a SECOND OPINION column below, rating the game at 7.75 (in contrast to the GI official score of 8.25):
"If you love that slightly odd, clasically Japanese sense of humor that Capcom brought to such titles as The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, I have a feeling that Zack & Wiki is going to be right up your alley. It's certainly charming, and its Wii remote controlled action/puzzle gameplay is nothing if not unique. At its best, it gives you a mix of intriguing puzzles and novel motion-based minigames that's like nothing else out there. However, this game is frustrating as often as it's fun, and at times the Wii control features seem to be doing little more than making the gameplay sloppier and less exact than it should be. It's an interesting concept that could have used a bit more polish. --MATT"

From GAF:
The instructions are a poster sized fold out map!!
The other sub-9s are Play and GI which aren't online, and GameTrailers which I won't watch.
The biggest knock Gametrailers had against Zack and Wiki was for its story category which gave the game a 7.5 but then again, you don't go into playing Zack and Wiki for the storyline.

Why does no one tell me these things?!
So that would be like what, 4$ off the game?
I think it's pretty funny that most people on CAG claim reviews are meaningless and yet here's a game that seems to have hit critical mass with the reviews and now everyone is buying it (me included ;)). So, apparently, reviews DO make a difference. I bet if this was coming in with 6-7, or even 7-8 scores all around, there wouldn't be this avalanche of CAG purchases before the game even hits.
I don't happen to be one of those people -- I actually find reviews helpful -- but that's probably true. My take on this is pretty parallel to how I use movie reviews: if a movie I wasn't inclined to see gets good enough reviews, I'll suck up my preconceptions and give it a shot. If a movie I'm looking forward to gets poor reviews, though, they don't really matter -- I'm perfectly capable of getting my money's worth from stuff that isn't necessarily top shelf. Why people don't try to experience the full range of the things they supposedly enjoy ("Oh, you game?" "Yeah, but just first person shooters and sports games.") is beyond me.

Unfortunately the Japanese release is cooler as we do not have a fold-out map for an instruction manual. Can't play for 4 hours though.

I just picked up a copy from gamestop b&m. They only got 3 copies in and didnt even know they had them. I had to argue with the guy for 10 minutes, he just kept telling me that they shipped today and that they would probably be out tomorrow. While we were arguing one of his co workers found a fed ex box with 3 copies in it. So it looks like b&m stores are not getting many, if any copies.

Perhaps most have tried other stuff and didn't like it? Game's aren't art (to me anyway--but to each their own). I'm not going to subject myself to crap I hate like RTS games, MMORPGs etc. just to "experience the full range."
I just play some games to unwind and relax a couple evenings a week, no need for me to step out of genre's I love to play games in those I've tried and didn't care for.

Got the game. Just got to my hideout.
I have to say that this game is pretty awesome so far. I can't get the smile off my face. This game is like playing a cartoon it's so well crafted. The dialog is funny and the way you use the wiimote is cool. You get graded after each episode and there are lots of little secret stuff to uncover that ups your score.
The only slightly annoying things I've seen so far is the fact that whenever a character talks it's text, but they babble something along side it (mostly japanese accents. Zacku and such). This happens every time you scroll the text. In my view they just should have gone with full voice acting if they were going to be mumbling so much. The other thing is that the cutscene text disappears way too fast so I can barely read it.
Also there is more polish in the first 5 minutes of the game than in the whole of most other games so you can throw that "not polished" crap out the window.

Then the other guy (manager?), started laughing when he found out I was picking up Zack and Wiki. I don't know if he was laughing at the name or what, but whatever.
Also I think the Japanese version has a fold out map for the booklet while this one is just a regular manual.

I'd literally be waiting in the store right now based on the limited supplies in which they shipped this game out in. Between CAG, IGN, GAF, and Kotaku, I have a feeling this intial run might just sell out.
I mean Capcom really hasn't bothered to hype this game up and so it's apparent they're going to undership it. But since the internet folk, myself included, have hyped it up so much, I think that 97% of the copies that reach retailers are going to sell out. It'll be Phoenix Wright all over again.

I just find it hard to drop down any amount of money on something before it comes out. It's been a long time since I had any problem finding a game on or around its release day, and quite often, certain stores will have a sale on new release titles (most recently, $49 for Bioshock at CC on its release). Furthermore, I'm even more sketched-out about buying games at Gamestop, as I don't think they pricematch.
Hell, I decided I wanted to get a Wii the day it launched (in other words, I decided that morning), stood in line for 2 hours, and got one.
What does blow my mind, however, is how the Wii can end up in so many homes with the most limited software library. I think SMG will turn that tide, but as of now, I hardly play mine.

"GET EVERYBODY TO PREORDER EVERYTHING OR YOU WILL BE TERMINATED."
One time I got the schpiel from a dude at the register and I just looked him in the eye and said "You guys are all fucking robots." He laughed nervously and looked away to say "Yeah..."

Having grown up with Sierra and LucasArts, the Wii's access to pre-GameCube software library has been keeping me plenty occupied. I'm also really, really busy, so for a while it was nothing but A Link To The Past and Metroid 3 (Super Metroid, if you want to be a dick about it) - since I never owned a SNES (though someone did give me their spare one).

Yeah, the virtual console is cool as hell, although it seems they're releasing a lot of "meh" games lately... they're probably saving a good batch for winter though. If they keep releasing solid games like SMW, Zeldas, etc, they'll keep getting my money, a couple dollars at a time.
And if anybody would like to suggest that the ROMs are available on the internet, and I'm wasting money, I'd like to know how iTunes got so sucessful (since music is easier than ROMs to procure)...

Well, the illegals should only fix what needs fixing... Mother 1 / EarthBound 0 is a good example.
There are certainly titles that I really need to play through. In particular, StarFox 64 will be my next one, since unlike my awesome wife, I never owned a Nintendo 64. She ASKED HER PARENTS for one...
If you think that's awesome, it's not always so. Night before last, I was rudely awakened from a blissful nap, since I was required to play Zelda for her amusement. I'm not sure what the fuck I was dreaming about, but I know there was a huge axe and an umlaut involved.

Made it through the third stage (difficulty 3/10). Died once right away there, but then I figured things out. It's all really quite brilliant. Pay close attention when they show you the overview of the level at the beginning, there might be important things there that are hard to see while you're playing.
The only motion I've had issues with so far is the grasping tool. I don't know if it's wanting me to use the IR or motion to move it around, but I've gotten it to work somehow.
There are also some amazing non-motion things they've come up with. Wait till near the end of the third stage.

Wish I had it today, but $4 off tomorrow or Friday is nice.
Its too bad this game won't sell well; its obvious that retailers are understocking this title.

To those who are playing this, did anyone else find the maestro bit in the third/fourth stage nigh impossible? I played it ten times and never did it right. If you beat it, what is the reward?
Other than that, solving the puzzles is really, really gratifying. I like holding the mote and thinking to myself "What is this supposed to be this time?"

Then when the squiggly lines come through, you're supposed to keep shaking it. I never managed to hit the squiggly lines part (missed the note before), but I got most of the other ones. You don't need to be perfect, seeing as how I wasn't. He turned into a chest with a secret treasure map (#3). Might be different depending on how well you do.
Got stumped for real at the first boss stage. Taking a break for now, but I'll be giving it another try before using the hint system for the first time.

Then the other guy (manager?), started laughing when he found out I was picking up Zack and Wiki. I don't know if he was laughing at the name or what, but whatever.
I asked about this game yesterday at Gamestop and got laughed at by the manager as well. He was laughing and saying. " You're kidding, right? Is this for you or your girlfriend?" What a dumbass.
I don't know about the rest of you, but everytime I pick up an adventure game at GameStop (or certain other stores), the employees always either laugh at what I'm buying or they are like WTF is this piece of crap and try to sell me something else with more action and violence.
And twice I've been stopped while buying a PC game by a GameStop employee because they wanted to make sure I knew what I was getting into by buying a PC game (they explained that it wouldn't work in a "playstation"). Are people that dumb that they don't know what games work in what systems? And are people that biased against adventure games?

Preorder bonus from Capcom: "For a limited time receive a free Zack & Wiki™ limited edition 3D lenticular puzzle with purchase." (You do have to pay around $7 for shipping, so it's not really free.)
BUT, it seems to say you can also get the preorder deal from GameStop, though I don't know if it has to be instore, since I see no indication of the bonus on the GameStop website.
"This Zack & Wiki lenticular 3D puzzle is now available as a free gift with purchase of Zack & Wiki: Quest For Barbaos' Treasure . This is an exclusive offer through Gamestop and the official Capcom Store. There are very limited quantities, so pre-order immediately."
It was supposedly available through GameStop, not Game Crazy, so who knows what the deal is. The fact that there were so few games shipped and still not a puzzle with each one is sort of silly.

I had a hell of a tim getting this today. No I didn't pre order it but still I didnt think it would be so hard to find a stor copy. I went to 2 stores and a friend of mine at one of them said he would give me a call when it came in (It was stuck in transit in a box that also containd Phoenix Wright 3 and something else)
3 hours later I get the call and pick up Z + W for 36 after my 10% coup. They had no idea what the game was or what it was called which made me a little more confident abot my purchase.

Im with you on the hard part, not with you on the text part. As far as I recall (yes it is tough for me to recall 5 hours ago), I don't recall any overload of text.
Zack and Wiki, why I love adventure games and the exact reason I bought it day one. I want more point and click as the Wii is perfect for it.
The feeling of being stumped by a puzzle in an adventure game and then finally figuring it out is unmatched. I want a Broken Sword compilation for the Wii (also Monkey Island, Space Quest, Police Quest, any Sierra adv. game, plus some adventure game company games :))
Edit: Forgot Lucasarts old point and click games also (can't remember the name, but the one about the biker was great and so was The Dig)

NERDFEST!
Man, Zack & Wiki is proper adventure, they weren't lying.
The bad news is that my Wii got the gfx glitches - I saw them during Twilight Princess, but the game looked "odd" on other systems as well. Now that Zack & Wiki's cel-shading is in, it leaves no room for doubt - my Wii is one of the defective ones...
Sad that I'm going to lose my LoZ:aLttP Savegame :(
Z&W: THE SPOILER IS A BIG ONE - DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU ARE FINISHED WITH THE FIRST AREA IN THE GAME.
Okay, ringing the bell and hiding to confuse the monster is an excellent puzzle. Also, I'm amazed when puzzles that _could_ be painful are not, such as finding the Scale Vase in the boss level, despite the fact that it CLEARLY appears to be out of your reach. Man, this game rocks. I need to replay the fountain level, because stupid fishing made me have a rank less than Unpuzzleable or whatever.

I hope you guys are right about this game. First time I have went out and blind bought a game on release day based on someone else;s opinion.
I love adventures games like the afore mentioned Dig, Maniac Mansion, Sam and Max, Grim Fandango...so I have very hogh hopes for this game.

I do have reasonably broad tastes, there's just certain genre's I don't like at all like RTS, MMRPG, most J-RPGs etc.
I'm not big on point and click adventure games (too slow paced for my taste) but this is getting such great reviews I'll definitely have to check it out at some point in time.

I'm in the third area, but I've been going slow, getting everything everywhere... Still, the most I get our of a level is 70% - any info my way would be appreciated, just don't spoil puzzles!
If it wasn't for a few somewhat annoying control issues (making Zack run where he needs to - the game would be beautiful with the mouse, but if you press A one too many times, Zack's pathfinding gets "kkrazy!" or whenever Zack is in the water!) I'd say the game is pretty much perfect for now.
Puzzle Highlights of World 2:
1.The Crystal Key Level - beautifully done, despite the obvious simplicity of the mechanic. I've tried to also go woot about one particular touch of this level, but it is impossible to mention it without spoiling the solution, and this isn't this kind of spoiler...
2.The Boss Battle is a classic, although I died about 10 times in a row. Probably the most exciting way to implement that classic dumbass game mechanic.
3.Getting the frog in that Chandelier stage - you know you're going to need that damn frog pretty much from the first frame of the level. The solution to the puzzle is elegant, logical, and bad ass.
Least Favorite Puzzles So far:
1. What's the deal with the "push a button and you're now dead?" - that's Sierra's trademark, isn't it? Really annoying, since in some cases YOU CAN NOT TELL what's going to happen.
2.Bell-ing the dude that's running away from the bull. The dialog surrounding that puzzle is straight up misleading in a mean way.
3.I wasn't aware you could just walk the fuck up to the boss and ring your bell - that's not adventure enough for me. my way, you got to lead the meanie the wrong way, and then step on a loose plank, and then ricochet some shit off of some other shit, and then bam - done! Zack & Wiki is like: ring the bell elsewhere, and you'z fucked - ring it right next to the boss - that's the puzzle there! The puzzle was called "where iz ur testikkliez?"

Can anyone actually play those rhythm mini-games where you have to shake the wiimote at just the right time? I'm finding them to be nigh on impossible as shaking a wiimote is so imprecise and you need to time it very well. I mean I'll usually get a green light followed by a red light or two, so Ill start moving it less and then it won't register at all. I just don't get it. And without giving too much away, can anyone tell me if you need to beat those to "complete" the game 100% or do they just effect stuff like your score?
It seems like a pretty great game so far, but I'm finding the Wii controls rather fidgety and awkward. I also hate the concept of having to buy more lives. I could sort of understand that in something like Devil May Cry, but in a puzzle solving adventure game it seems really out of place and adds to unnecessary tedium. Don't get me wrong, it's otherwise a great game, and I look forward to playing it more as the puzzles are fantastic.

i'm having the same trouble you're having. a rhythm game with motions needs to be a little more forgiving in my opinion. the whole thing seemed a little out of place.
You're just mad that you have to buy it now.
Indeed. And I went to another Gamecrazy Weds night and they have no idea when they are getting it, if they are getting preorder bonuses (no one preordered it there), or just about anything for that matter. Not only do I have to buy this game, but it isn't being made easy to do (at least somewhere I have credit - not forking over $40 in cash even if this got solid 10's).

Nah, I'm not much for gamefaqs or guides. It's more likely I'd get stuck or bored with it, as I have with other adventure games, but that's why it's a rental first for sure.
Unlike some genres like RTS, I don't feel like I've played enough adventure games (I think only 3 over the years--Myst, Full Throttle and Phoenix Wright) to totally write the genre off as something I just don't like at all yet. Especially with it being on the Wii and thus involving more than pointing with all the motion stuff which looks pretty cool.

You know I wouldnt even call Phoenix wright a true adventure... maybe I didnt get far enough yet in the first one but it reminds me of a mixed genre of game rather than a full blooded adventure.
Myst was nothing more than eye candy and the thing that annoyed me is it was not fluid from one scene to the next... maybe i just prefer 3rd person adventures over myst and its clones.
dmaul,
Then in my opinion you have yet to give the genre a fair shake (full throttle is a good one thougha nd it seems you had no problems with it). Even go to AGS and download the Kings quest 2 remake (its free) and see if you like the genre before you write it off. Zack and Wiki appears to be more in line with what I consider true adventure games, although i have yet to play it.

According to Capcom:
"It's being carried by pretty much all of the majors nationwide and our day one numbers were not insignificant (though they could always be higher), but if you're having trouble finding it, Wal-mart took a large order and likely won't be swamped by first day pre-order customers. It may take them a couple extra days to get it on the shelf, but they should have plenty to go around when it starts trickling into their stores (I'd assume by Friday/Saturday in most cases)."

Phoenix Wright is what I would refer to as an interactive book than an adveture actually.
What I hated about Myst was the game felt to have no rhyme nor reason as to what the hell you were doing. It just served to look pretty (and contained nothing I would consider gameplay) and sold millions of copies.
I think Zack and Wiki will be almost like Megaman Legends meets Indiana Jones meets Oddworld (PSX)/Out of This World/Flashback. I'm getting my copy today so I haven't had a chance to play it, but what I can gather from impressions, reviews and trailers, you have to get through a series of challenges (ala Indiana Jones) to get the treasures (using the art design of Megaman Legends) and the guess and check puzzle aspects of Oddworld, Out of This World, and Flashback.
Is there any more detail about the jigsaw preorder bonus?

Full Throttle was ok. My main problem with adventure games is that they're too slow and passive for my short attention span. :D I prefer games were I have full control of the character and spend most of my time shooting, slashing or jumping on bad guys. :D

I really hate the King's Quest series, despite the obvious awesomness of KQ6 and marginal "pioneering" value of KQ5. KQ4 is probably my favorite, actually, now that I think about it, though that game is a BITCH.
I was fine with MYST - as long as you've read every book in the library, the complete owner's manual, and four novels on the subject, you should have no confusion whatsoever as to where you are, why, and what the point is.
No, just kidding, MYST blew, and I loved it.
Zen: there is ONE way to explain Zack & Wiki. It's basically Goblins 3 (a.k.a. GoblinsQuest in the U.S.), except all the screens are cingular, and you only have one sidekick. Gobliiins, Gobliins2, and Goblins3 were all bad-ass, and some of my favorite games as a kid - developed by Frenchies Cocktel Vision... Also, I should mention that the last game they made makes Zack & Wiki look like the easiest shit in the world. It's called Woodruff and Shnibble of Azimuth, and it plays about the same as what it sounds like.
And if you want to get into Adventure games, all you really need to know whether or not you're a lost cause is to go down this list:
day of the tentacle
the secret of monkey island
space quest iv (though I'll always be The Pirates of Pestulon guy)
grim fandango

Monkey Island II didn't do much for me, but I and III were both fantastic. Grim Fandango's still probably the best, though.

Hard to say if that means more stages will pop up in that area later or if it means there are treasures and whatnot still hidden. I know I missed some already, but I need to beat the boss before I find out what percentage I finish with. But I have to work for 3 more hours until I can do that.
I beat two areas so far. One with each level getting an "Unpuzzleable" rating (highest possible). The other area, everything but one level has the "Unpuzzleable" rating. Both show up at 70%. I've replayed the levels, in hope of finding something new. Unless someone has the guide to explain how to get 100% on levels, I'll be replaying my shit as much as possible.

A month? I wouldn't even get to any of those games till probably mid spring 2008 at the earliest.
I'll only venture out of my favored genre's during droughts, and I've got two years of 360 games to catch up on plus upcoming releases on it and the Wii. :D
But I may check out one of those (or the free Kings adventure remake) before then, if nothing else I could play when I feel like gaming and my roommate is watching TV.

Full Throttle was ok. My main problem with adventure games is that they're too slow and passive for my short attention span. :D I prefer games were I have full control of the character and spend most of my time shooting, slashing or jumping on bad guys. :D
But I'll definitely have to check out that Kings Quest 2 remake sometime sense it's free. Thanks for the tip!
I meant to write AGD... but heres the link. I would think the KQ2 remake is much better than KQ1 remake... partly due to the fact that KQ1 is arguably the first adventure game ever (non text based) and so the remake had a lot less to work with. KQ2 remake is really a great example in my opinion.

Ooh Kyrandia... Yeah have the collection and loaned out game 3... never even played it. Luckily I found the 3rd cd case and game at a thrift store a year or two ago, which completed my boxed collection again. I liked those games back in the day. Actually to this day Adventure games are by far my favorite genre... although there have been many other great moments in many other genres.

Going back to Kyrandia, the 2nd and 3rd might have been better, Im really struggling to distinguish 2nd and 3rd, but the first got me with the box art. That box was bad ass when I was younger for some reason. I remember the first because of tossing different gems down a well or something of the sort and then having to go through some caves. Damn I loved that game though.
Box art coming in a minute. Not a great pic as it was much brighter in person.

Indeed, indeed. I'll have to replay them as well, and I actually have my DVDs of my half-assed attempt to collect ISOs of all Sierra oldies (ALL of them) which has both the floppy and the CD version of Goblins 3, because the CD version totally took away some awesome animations and replaced them with crappy ones.
Okay, here's a big one: RELENTLESS / Little Big Adventure and Little Big Adventure 2? Adeline Software's BEST... Not really "adventures" in a "puzzle" sense, but as far as proper adventuring all over the world, blew my mind.
Beavis & Butthead's Virtual Stupidity is extremely underrated - awesome adventure, though I really hated those guys when I played it. I'll try to find the website that lists compatibilities of old games.
Adventure Game for Wii Ware? We can make one for Windows at almost no cost... In fact, I'll pay for the engine licence and everything (Visionaire 2D would be easiest) if there are people interested in drawing me some bad ass backgrounds and doing png animations with transparecies.
Touche came out in 96, and I remember seeing SOMETHING about the game back in Russia. I came to the US in 96, so I never had the chance to play it, but it was hauntingly familiar sounding.
I love this thread, as well. Man, I hope to GOD Z&W outsells everyone so that puzzle-driven adventures will be like "the next FPS" in games... I kid, I kid...

I remember those. Wasn't it called something with Twinsen in the title (besides what you have listed)? I never got around to playing them but they did look good at the time.
There are so many damn good graphic adventure games. I remember when I was probably 7 or 8 playing a Laura Bow (I think that was her name) Sierra adventure when you were in a museum. It was an amazing game trying to figure out all the puzzles. The Wii seems like the perfect platform to bring these type of games back for relatively cheap.
If they can bring CSI, Broken Sword and Syberia to the XBOX, they can damn well bring more to the Wii and probably make more money.
As for the Wii being the perfect platform, where the hell are the RTS games. I can think of nothing easier than drawing a box with the wii remote to group people. Now Im off topic though! Back to the adventure games.
I think the Laura Bow game was called Dagger of Amon Ra, or something like that. (sadly I never even came close to finishing it)
Speaking of graphic adventures, why can I remember names of games I played when I was 7-10 but I can barely do long division or multiplication without a calculator?

It's cool. A little nostalgia never hurt anyone.
Just called 3 places:
1) Gamecrazy #1 (my favorite store) has 3 or 4 copies they got in today. But no preorder puzzles.
2) Other Gamecrazy (much less favorite due to asshat employees) has not gotten it in yet.
3) Gamestop SOLD OUT and did not have the puzzles at all either.
So, anyway, I don't want to spend any more time on this so I'm going to go snag a copy at GC #1. Oh well, no puzzle bonus, no biggie. At least I'm using up some of that load of GC credit I have ;). This game better be as good as you guys and all the reviewers are saying or there will be hell to pay!
I ran through the tutorial part last night, and yeah if you like puzzle games, this one will deliver. I'm not sure I'll feel as happy about the game once I start running into the "frustrating" puzzles, though. :)

I gave in and took a hint at the first boss level. Glad I did, as it was pretty basic, but just told me I'm not yet in the right mindset... easy to forget some of the mechanics you have available to you to solve puzzles. In this case I forgot I could flip stuff around, so I knew I had to use the umbrella to get down behind the boss, but I didn't think to flip it around and use the handle.
Back to a slightly easier difficulty in the first stage of the second area, got through that fairly easily after the built-in nudge. Some really creative shit going on in here, I want to meet the people who came up with this stuff.

Somewhere along the way, you're going to have to assemble the skeleton of a turtle. It will all be very confusing.Any further posts by you will require a Visa Code. The required Visa Code for your next post is: Section 4 (C 22).

Has anyone's Amazon order shipped yet? I pre-ordered October 1 and my order has not even been touched yet. I imagine they have a huge backlog of pre-orders since they are telling people to buy from Target online now, and that new Amazon orders could have a 4-6 week wait.

what the hell am I doing wrong?
Im fishing at that water slide level but the fish just jumps up and goes back to it's cave? I used the hint system but it tells me to fish. :bomb: I can't tell if Im doing something wrong fishing motion control wise or if Im doing something in the wrong order. I can't think of anything I should be doing before I fish though. Yes I have the worm on the hook.
Im not even far in and Im frustrated.
