It's the Eggplant Wizard from the Captain N cartoon.
However, in this civil war, I'm with Purple Tentacle.

I just beat the game.
I did not use any oracle dolls or platinum tickets.
I died 64 times.
Zack and Wiki was fucking amazing. It was extremely good. Man when I started thinking outside of the box in some levels and then I did something and it worked. This game pays off. The ending was great. I love this game.
Please if you haven't bought it then go buy it.
I really want this game to do good.

This game was finally in stock at my TRU. So i used my 10 dollar gift card from the spend 75 bucks or more coupon with GH III and picked up Z & W and reserved mario galaxy for that 25 dollar gift card deal. Hopefully that pans out and I will get the wii zappeer and if i am feeling zappy enough ill get ghost squad. Im glad i could find this game to show my support

Ah. I misunderstood who was the guardian, and just assumed it was the goblin. Regarding the alternate method, couldn't you just take the bomb with you down the vine and throw it in the lake, without needing the worm? Or does the frog eat the worm, and then the fish eats the frog bomb in turn (or something like that)? Regardless, I'll have to try this out when I get home. Thanks for explaining that to me, I probably would never have known that this stage had an alternate solution, it being an early stage and all.
That isn't possible since bombs are two-handed items. So basically the frog has to eat the worm and then slide on down the fountain to get to the platform below where you started out.

Makes sense. Now I know why I sometimes hold items, and drop them other times when I try to interact with the stage. I never actually noticed, nor questioned why that happened with some items and not others .

 I died about 10 times on that level.
- Go get the shovel that is on the ice.
- save the little guy buried in the snow.
- ring your bell to turn him into a block.
- put the block on the section by the broken ladder.
- go back and get the shovel
- climb up the broken ladder and shovel the snow onto the ice.
- walk onto the snow covered ice making sure to leave some footprints
- go stand on the platform under the broken ladder and wait for the robot to sweep.
- watch animation and nab your treasure.

The one with the crazed mechanical gardener (with the clock) or the one with the two lion heads (Ice Key)?
If it's the Ice Key:
There should be two water troughs on the ground - a left one and a right one. On the right side of the room is a set of three doors, each door a different color (green, blue, gray). Make a note of the order they are in. Then go to the left trough and move around the pieces until the colors are match the order of the doors.
After this, pull that switch a few times. What should happen on the right trough eventually is two things: 1) water will pour into it, and 2) the second lion head will freeze it. You can then pick up the frozen "ice rod" (or stick, I can't remember the exact word). Put it in the left trough - you'll notice it doesn't match up with all the shapes - it's just the "middle," so to speak. Don't worry about this.
Create a second rod and pick it up. Now, if you look at the left trough, you'll see a beam of light. You can use the second ice rod to focus the beam into the left trough. This causes the first rod to melt, which will then fill the entire shape of the key. Then, use the switch in the middle of the room a few more times until the lion head freezes it. You can then pick it up, and it's now an ice key instead of just a rod.
Then just use it in the doors (again, make sure you matched up the colors!) and you're all set.
If it's the gardener level (and don't spoil it if not!):
I loved this level, personally.
You'll walk into the garden and learn that the gardener goes out at the stroke of 12 and sweeps up your footprints. To avoid being killed by him, you have two options: 1) run onto a platform so that don't leave foot prints, meaning he won't come after you, or 2) shake a tree, causing snow to fall down, which will cover your footprints. Also, make note that if he comes out to clean up footprints and you start moving, he WILL find you. HOWEVER, if you start moving after he starts walking back to his starting point, he won't come after you. This is useful information to know, since it will let you move around more without fear of dying.
Go to the middle/left structure with the ladder. Crawl up it and talk to Johnny Styles in the pot. After he leaves, throw the pot, get the money. Go all the way to the right side of the screen to find the umbrella. Make your back to your starting point. Press 2 to open the umbrella, and examine the lion statue. There's a button on it - press it WITH THE OPEN UMBRELLA. The lion head will freeze all of the water in the stage.
Now that the water is frozen, you can walk out onto the island where the shovel is. Go grab it - MAKE SURE YOU WALK OFF THE SNOW AND ONTO THE ICE BEFORE THE GARDENER COMES BACK. He WILL try to come out to the island, but it will show him breaking through the ice. It's shallow enough, however, that he'll be able to come out there, so you need to be on the ice so he won't find you.
Use the shovel to dig out the little pirate goon dude (most likely will need to shake the tree to survive a few times around here). Use the bell to turn him into a pirate totem. Pick up the totem and walk over to the right side of the screen, where there's a structure with a broken ladder. You can put the Goon Totem in it. Go grab the shovel and climb up on that ladder, and you'll see a small pile of snow. Use the shovel on it - you'll notice it makes a pile on the frozen pond below. Drop the shovel and walk out onto that pile, making footprints.
Then, move out of the way and let the gardener fall through. Once he's gone, you can get the treasure without any problem.

People who do not have this game are ruining this thread, people that DO have this game make this thread awesome by telling everyone of their opinion which happens to be extremely positive across the damn board.
It's been a while since I've seen a "no-name" 3rd party title have this effect on people. In fact, most of us (speaking of myself here) had no idea as to what the fuck we should expect. When it comes to Z&W, everyone's reaction is something among the lines of "MEGATOOOOOOON!"
Not sure what to make of it, other than that my side in the civil war is the uber-correct one.
I do want to make a coupe of points:
Everyone in the jungle or ice worlds, during your first playthrough... I know the game appears awesome to you, but I'd like to point out that the game doesn't really pull out the big guns until you beat the third world. You will know what I mean imediately, and I'm jealous that you still have that majestic experience ahead of you.
I'm telling everyone about this one - it's too good, and judging from your responses, its appeal is "almost universal." I kindly suggest you do the same.
Those that don't have a Wii or the game - my Wii is getting repaired and man does it suck to be you. I know first-hand now. Sucks bad. You should fix it, word is the Wiis are available.

I am both extremely thrilled and very dissapointed in this game's replay mode. (minor non-story spoilers following...)
I love the idea of having secret treasure chests to find that only appear after you've beaten the game, but I HATE the fact that in order to get them you have to do seamingly arbitrary and random tasks. Apparenly there are "lore scrolls," i.e. clues or riddles about what these tasks are that you must perform, which is an absolutely brilliant idea, but the problem is these lore scrolls only appear by chance when sending that rabbit on treasure hunts (something that isn't explained at all in-game or manual that you pretty much have to discover by sheer dumb luck, or hear about it elsewhere like I did). Why the designer's make you waste so much time and money unlocking these is an amazingly awful design choice as they should, by nature, unlock along with the secret treasures they aim to help you find. I mean it's a scavenger hunt. The clues and treasures go together. Why add such an unneccesary step to obtain even the clues?

How long is the game?
Both Scrub and I took 21 hours to beat it... Supposedly, however, the game isn't over. And truth be told, I'm planning on continuing to play it.
Every level that you beat first time around will have a "complete" rating of 70% - that is for a reason, and if you're obsessive/compulsive like me, sounds like the game will have about 5 to 10 more hours of good solid gameplay.
In other words, 20 hours guaranteed, 30 hours guaranteed unless you're lazy and unmotivated.
We all mean it, btw, this game is AMAZING.

As much as I like this game, I must say I like MLB Power Pros more, which I promise you IS NOT A BAD THING!!!
We are seriously getting hit with way to many good games at 1 time (as much as I liked the earlier Wii games, what a shock to say that line). There are so many interesting games coming out at 1 time.
I still want Battalion Wars, Mario Galaxy, RE Umbrella Chronicles, Ghost Squad, Fire Emblem, Rayman 2 and Guitar Hero III, but hell I don't have the time.
Edit: That's not even mentioning the Disney and Barbie Princess line of games that is coming out.
Edit 2: What is Octomania? I saw it on Gamespot and it says it is a puzzle game.
Edit 3: Sonic and Mario at the Olympic Games PLUS Asterix at the Olympic Games!!! We are in heaven.

So.. re: fire boss level, let me know if I'm on the right track.
I've elevated the hammer, lit all the statues to fill up the hanging bucket. Do I need to provoke the dragon into spitting a fireball at me while standing at the top of the ladder on the hammer, causing it to fall? If not, I'm clueless. I attempted this once, but got toasted, so I'm assuming I'm either wrong or there's some timing involved and I just screwed up.

You're on the right track. Just make sure to go back down when you force him to spit while shaking your wiki bell up on the hammer. If you still can't get the fireball to hit the hammer and not you while you're on it, check youtube. I believe it has videos of at least some of the games levels. Just search for the level name.

Congratulations, and let the good times roll - it ain't over until you think it's over, and even then it's not over, the game just goes "ha, NOT OVER."
I do want to say:
I was also stuck getting the dragon to spit the firewall while standing on the hammer - the bell thing doesn't work immediately, and that's crazy!
As far as the whole "infiltrating the enemy's ship" level is concerned, it is but the beginning of the game's creative re-intepretation of what the fuck they mean with a "puzzle" stage - from this on MOST of the stages are somewhat more mission driven, and the puzzles seem to mesh quite well with the story and the setting more. In other words, this is where the game gets from "oh, this is GOOD" to something among the lines of "SHITS!!!"
I am rather happy that I've beaten this game as early as I did (I usually lag behind like a bitch) since it's rather nice to live vicariously through your excitement all over again, especially since now I can be as liberal as I want to be with reading all of the spoiler tags.
The Crotch: Hang on in there, buddy, it's about to unleash the awesome at you any minute now. And the more I think about it, the more I realize that I don't really give the earlier levels enough credit for what they are, since I know how bad-ass the later ones get...
Strell: You don't post here nearly as much as you should. Why don't you tell everyone how you took out the Jungle Boss? It's not clever or anything, but it still made me laugh because things you say are somehow funnier. For no good reason. Shit, I'm even off the sauce as of late. I should get back on the sauce. Had some alfredo tonight - wasn't bad. Had Sunshine Belgian brew - that shit's delicious.

Well, I really don't believe it's getting "rare", it's just that most retail outlets underestimated its relevance (hell, Best Buy didn't even have it on its site even after its ship date), but since the reviews are pretty glowing and since I canceled my Manhunt 2 Amazon preorder* (reviews not glowing, not even really flickering)...ohhh-kayyy...heading over there right now.

Often I'd get it to go in the right direction, hold my hand perfectly still, and watch as the damn thing rotated right back to where it was before.

Guys, I beat that bit, remember? I twisted, I turned, and yes, I flicked. But no matter how precisely I immitated my last succesful movement, there was only a 40% chance it would go in the same direction as last time. Good thing you've got infinite tries on that.
Currently on the last non-boss fire level. Figured out how to beat it, but after dying for the eleventeenth time (this time I forgot to bring a racket over to the second side), I decided to seek food before resuming my quest. Then I decided to check my E-mail. Then since I was already online, I thought I'd go check CAG. And since I've got a bag of Skittles here on my desk, I'm eating that now. And then...

11-04-2007, 11:04 PM
Yep. Though one is very hard if you fuck things up. On one of the ice levels you have to knock a Zack-sized icicle down to block a Goon so you can transform him into a totem. If you destroy the icicle before you trap him, you can't get it back, and he will just run away from you any time you get anywhere near him. You have to capture him if you want to get the drill, which speeds shit up significantly. If you don't you have to destroy a 9999 HP block of ice, 10 HP at a time.

I've some questions about this game:
1) Does it hold up well to short session playing? Right now a lot of the Wii playing time here is in games that can be done in short bursts: Excite Truck, Guitar Hero 3, Elebits, and Kororinpa are examples of what I mean.
2) Are the puzzles too hard for a young audience? My Wii playing time is shared with my boys who are seven and six, and if I got this I'd likely let them do most of the playing. My own puzzle gaming tends to be on the DS, where I'm currently doing Picross and still have Phoenix Wright games to play (only completed the first), and I'm planning to get myself Professor Layton & the Curious Village. I'd like to watch and occasionally give hints, but I'd like this to be mostly 'their' game and I don't want them overly frustrated. I'm trying not to read spoilers in this thread so it's hard to tell the hows/whys of people getting stuck in various stages on what little I'm reading.

I've some questions about this game:
1) Does it hold up well to short session playing?
2) Are the puzzles too hard for a young audience?
Thanks!
1. Yes. The major areas are broken down into stages and you can quit and come back anytime you want.
2. Depends on your kids, but I would say yes. In spite of it's cartoon appearance this game is hard, but you can play with your kids and help them out by drawing on the screen and giving them hints.

Hey, here's a question. In the ice areas... is there any purpose for the fancy mirror and broken statue in the boss stage? What about the stick on the level with the broom guy? Does that serve any purpose aside from a means of committing suicide?

The broken statue is pretty important for your 3rd shot with the laser. More specifically - Captain Rose gets frozen into a statue and you can plug her there, and put a mirror on her.
As for the stick, I think its there just to piss you off since its alot closer than the umbrella

Botticus: The first level you can run into a dead-end without dying, as far as I recall, is The Lake of Fire - first level of the Fire Stage. Even the Bunny Pilot guy tells you so in that very one.
The ICE BOSS thing:
There are at least TWO "levels" in there - one with Cptn. Rose runing into ice, and one without. If you wish to check out the other method, play it, and if Cptn. Rose does / does not (whatever you've seen already) turn into ice, go ahead and restart, and beat the puzzle anew. It's quite different, and both ways are rather fun, especially since the one without Cptn Rose as a reflector can be rather difficult.
Now for the rotating puzzle for maximal score:
For clarity, I use "top" "middle" and "bottom" denominations. However, the important thing here is that the MIDDLE piece is a CROSS-piece (+).
Step 1: Pick up the top piece. Perform the rotations listed below PRIOR to putting it in, I'll explain why we do them as I do it.
align it with the way it's supposed to end up - this is our "starting" position.
Rotate it CLOCKWISE by 90 degrees (right-side becomes the bottom).
Flip it OVER (180 degrees - upside down)
Place it into the slot.
Pick up the bottom piece, and align the way it's supposed to go in. Now, rotate it COUNTER-CLOCKWISE 90 degrees (left side becomes the bottom) and place it in.
Upon doing so, the previously inserted piece will now be flipped upside down.
Pick up the last piece, align it correctly (how it's supposed to go in) and place it into the slot.
MAXIMUM POINTS AWARDED.
To summarize: the bottom rotates the top piece 180 degrees (flips it upside down). The criss-cross (+) piece rotates the top counter-clockwise and the bottom clockwise, so both of these need to be rotated in opposite direction to work. I've restarted IMMEDIATELY upon finishing that puzzle to get the high score.
As far as the question regarding the game:
Kiril: are you Russian? Your User Name certainly is. If so: privet, i ochen' rad zemlyaka na forumah vstretit'.
Yes, Z&W can be picked up and left alone at will - it's perfect for that. It is a bit easy to become quite engaged with the game and not want to quit, so be warned. Excellent title, though.
Many say that these puzzles may be "too hard" for kids. I remember growing up in the LMF-SH (Letnyaya Fiziko-Matematicheskaya Shkola) where I played Gobliiins and Gobliins 2 when I was in middle school. Now, my friend and I were better at those than grown-ups (meaning that four college level kids that obtained the damn game asked us grade-schoolers about the god damn mayo puzzle in Gob2 and I'm still proud of solving that one on my own), because we happened to take the "wacky" nature of the game without fear, and were not feeling "out of our element." So it is possible that your kids will feel rather at home with some of the "odder" moments of Z&W (some of which are utterly brilliant, as I'm sure anyone going through later levels will second).
Your kids should most certainly try this title, as long as you provide a wee bit of help with some of the more math-based moments, like the rotating puzzle that I've outlined above - adults tend to be much better at those, because we get the predictability of the system better, which makes games like MYST fucking possible for us to physically BEAT.
I highly recommend this game to anyone with kids as well as without, because its style and direction is universal - its wacky slapstick bits should leave the young ones happy, and its goofy moments of spooky maddness and cheezy fun should leave adults smiling (the female protagonist draws a menacing double-cross on her cheek... with her lipstick).

Well, I did get help at Phleebhut, and I had to ask an older kid to beat Astro Chicken. Pestulon was fucking impossible. The game isn't too hard - just takes a while to get you on the right track. I'll go on record as saying that it's my favorite Space Quest... Just too good with all the social commentary and hilarious antics... It also kind of screws up that whole Labion Terror Beast Mating Whistle thing, because the form in Space Quest II clearly said FREE, but then again - Link was right-handed in Twiilight Princess. I'm so clever, I make MYSELF sick.

No.
No no no no no. Ok?
No, goddammit. No.
You are NOT adequately explaining how difficult the game is.
Listen up, people. You had to type in the commands, right? And sometimes you had to MAKE UP words. Yes! Make them the fuck up, like they were an intergalactic bed or some shit.
Words you'd never expect! Like, for example, garfunkel. No, it was NOT the name of a character in the game, it was an action word. It was a verb, damnitall, a command the game actually under-fucking-stood.
You had to go around and garfunkel shit, ok? YOU HAD TO GARFUNKEL SHIT, and the game didn't give a FUCK that you didn't know wtf that meant, NOR did it give you any damn indication of that command.
In fact, I think the game made fun of me. "OH," it said. "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT ACTION CORRESPONDS WITH THE FLEEBLPHONGER? TOUGH SHIT, SHINGLEPAGGOT."
I don't even know what the in the hell a shinglepaggot is, but I was fucking depressed for days, because I'm sure it is a most insulting word.
I mean, all Il was asking for - as I clawed at my keyboard in agony - was some sort of ingame help or instructions or something. Just a little message - "By the way, did you know you can garfunkel? But don't do it too much - your squiddolyspooch might get infected."
THAT'S ALL I FUCKING NEEDED, FUCKERS!
The point is, when he says "oh your little spawnlings might need some help," yeah - they're gonna need some dayum help. Like, you might need to get them, oh, some stakes and garlic, because fuckin' Dracula might pop the fuck out at any moment, and feast upon their blood.

I'm quite confused, actually. Because I got the whole game in my head - as I generally have all of my old favorites - but I can't recall a single case in Space Quest games where you had to garfunkel shit. You had to Rub Berries On Body (that wasn't cool). You had to even KISS SARIEN for the fucking point that "genius" Ken Williams added into the game, along with another "awesome" point-rewarding puzzle which is "ASK SARIEN ABOUT KING'S QUEST" (or just say YES when the Sarien asks you if he could talk to you about dumbass KING'S QUEST). The whole point of Space Quest was that it walked around owning King's Quest left and right and sideways.
Strell - I want whatever you've had when I sent you that copy of Space Quest III, because apparently - and I am being quite conservative in my estimate - you were taking something AWESOME. If my calculations are correct, what you've described was much more than your average LSD experience, and elevating to the point of PCP, Peyote, or perhaps the allmighty DMT. The last one, however, only lasts a half hour according to Wikipedia, so it couldn't have been it.
I'm going to go garfunkel my wife.

Wow. I thought we only had young'ins on this board. King's Quest and Space Quest rocked, and to a lesser extent, Police Quest and L.S.Larry. Loved 'em all up until they went "point and click." I don't recall ever having issues with any of them. Just had to think outside the box. More-so for SQ than the others, but it was manageable.

Meh, I say the entire point of Space Quest was to figure out new ways to kill Roger Wilco. Hell, they even have a memorial site (http://tmd.alienharmony.com/rw/index.htm) for it.
It's too bad that Zack & Wiki's deaths aren't as great as Space Quest. I probably wouldn't be half as far as I am now if they had Wilco-like deaths as I'd be figuring out a dozen ways to kill Zack rather than progressing through the game.

I tried out Z&W yesterday and hafta admit it was decent. I played up until the level past where you had to slide down the rope to get behind the monster using the handle of the batumbrella. Thats about as positive as a comment that I would make about it though. Here is why:
Although the puzzles were getting hard the game still looked and appeared like it was made for 8 year olds. The gameplay is slow and there is no real combat; I agree that not every videogame has combat or should have it but the lack of it made it slower paced to me. I also didn't really like how one mistake would kill you but the revive system helped alleviate this gripe a little bit.
I didn't care for the moving mechanics, constantly just pointing where you want them to go instead of being able to move them yourself. I am sure the game gets better though as you progress but the stroy kind of stunk IMO. WTF is barbaro supposed to be? And Wiki, WTF is that. Maybe I lack imagination. It was just a little too cute for me (coming from a huge fan of pikmin).
To those of you who have beat the game, tell me please, and put it in spoiler if you think you should, does Z ever spank W?
At the end of the day though, it would be fair to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the game and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It was definitely decent but not worth a new purchase in my humble opinion.

I will give you the moving mechanics. They are a bit clunky. The nunchuck would have been nice to move Zack around. There should have been an option for either/or.
As for the graphical style, you just have to have an open mind I guess. I have no problems with it.

You guys I got to this game late Sunday Night. 9:30 pm to be exact. I had actually took Tylenol PM as I had a long weekend and in short if i don't get a lot of sleep I somehow get mentally amped up and never sleep right for work..
I hate the Pm stuff but every once in a while I need it to get a decent nights sleep and get to work and be productive the next day... so I took some. Good thing to!
So far I am really digging this game. I am not very far and already am getting pissed at the HQ points. I am already replaying levels to increase my score. I mean why am I getting only 100 of 20,000 for some things I am doing.... being "Run of the Mill" is not something that is acceptable.. Especially since I prefer to not cheat on true Adventure games and will bore my wife to the point of not playing the classics with me as I try to figure them out, or remember what I did 10-15 years ago.
Does anyone know if there is a place to go (without searching this whole damn thread) to see the alternate methods to some levels?
Also I didn't figure this out last night... if you replay a level does that levels coins, and HQ points add into your total, OR does it replace what you got in that level the previous time through? What I am getting at is if I replay a level and do something worse will I actually lose points/coins.

well i've beat the game. i used 5 oracles hints. and i asked for help on the forum twice when the hints weren't good enough. i thought that the game did a great job of having challenging puzzles and not giving you any hints or reminders on how to beat them (without you paying for it.)
my feeling is that if you don't like the puzzles early on, you won't like them later on. they get more complicated, but it's the same basic style of puzzle. the story gets a little better, but it's just the straight formula video game story. which is fine with me. what happens is after you put together the pirate, he comes to life. you have a few levels where you're fighting the pirate, and then you win. and along the way, you have to save that woman and she befriends you and calls you a true pirate or something like that.
i thought it ended well, the last level frusterated me a lot, but after beating it i can see the great level design that was there. and people have complained some about the look of the game. personally i like it. i liked that everything was bright and easy to see. i liked that none of the puzzles were made harder by bad graphics or just not being able to see an area well enough. i'll always prefer it to be "cartoony" but have a perfect look. then be "realistic" and looking less then perfect.
but altogether great game. worth the hype. very unique. took great advantage of the wii controls. great length. great price.

pittpizza: before I even begin, I will say this. I love Zack & Wiki, but I fancy myself to be, uh, "not a zealot." I've said several times that the game isn't for everyone, because as much as a lot of us don't want to admit it, killing hookers, performing gruesome assasinations, and killing things for no good reason can be fun, and has been to most of us on several occasions. I'm not writing this to change your mind about the game, nor do I care about you purchasing it "new" or anything like that. I really hope that the above doesn't come across as patronizing bullshit, because I am being sincere. All I ever asked is that you give this one a spin, just to see what you think. (It would help if adventures and puzzles and clicking would at the very least be represented in an odd one-off PROPER title than to continually remain "dead on arrival," though. Which is the main reason why I care in the first place.
I tried out Z&W yesterday and hafta admit it was decent. I played up until the level past where you had to slide down the rope to get behind the monster using the handle of the batumbrella. Thats about as positive as a comment that I would make about it though.
I've said it before, and I said it again: this game is not a proper adventure game, it's a puzzle game, a genre which many of adventure developers scoffed at even when King's Quest V was selling like crack. To hear this "once removed" oddity get praise form people who don't particularly care too much about the genre doesn't cease to impress me.
Although the puzzles were getting hard the game still looked and appeared like it was made for 8 year olds.
I agree - the game looks like a colorful cartoon. The puzzles don't begin until World 2 at the earliest, though. For me, they have not begun until World 4.
The gameplay is slow and there is no real combat; I agree that not every videogame has combat or should have it but the lack of it made it slower paced to me.
With all due respect, you are wrong. "Real" combat is about as sparse as you can get in this one. However, it does exist, though there are puzzles and timers and hand-eye-coordination involved. It's probably about 5% of the game. But it does indeed exist - you should have kept going. Combat, however, is not necessarily what you need - all you need is creatures that can kill you.
You don't lack imagination. I do firmly believe that the art style and the gameplay mature with the puzzles, but the truth is - the game never ceases to be adorable and cute - 3rd boss of the game is a prime example. It's bad-assery is derived from the fact that it made me rub my head several times and made me stuck a few times with actual PUZZLE mechanics (the only help I've asked from the forum dealt with a control issue with a puzzle that I've actually SOLVED, but could not repeat due to a control issue).
To those of you who have beat the game, tell me please, and put it in spoiler if you think you should, does Z ever spank W?
No.
At the end of the day though, it would be fair to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the game and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It was definitely decent but not worth a new purchase in my humble opinion.
Keep in mind that it's $40 SRP. And that the last few levels get mental insane. What you have played is basically a tutorial for the rest of the game. So far, you haven't seen a level with NPCs that can not be killed with your bell (but could kill you at will), you haven't seen a level with a huge boss that actually attacks non-stop - forcing you to time your moves appropriately while trying to solve rather difficult puzzles. You haven't seen any gameplay that involved your own health bar which decreases with time, and most importantly, you have not seen the ingenious puzzles that make the game as praiseworthy as this thread leads you to believe.
At the end of the day, your mind is most certainly made without any of my moronic bullshit. You know exactly what you will and will not purchase, and my point has never been that you're somehow confused about that. I do want you to know that your judgement of the game is most certainly preemptive, and your "familiarity" is comparable to my familiarity with Super Mario Galaxy.
And when the price drops, feel free to chime in and tell me how right I was. :]
(The last line is me being an asshole, ignore it.)

HQ: replaces your score. The game keeps the best HQ score for the level. The Total is (according to my early "estimate") derived from the best scores on record per level. I wish I had my Wii - I'd check this twice, but I believe this to be correct.
COINS: they are added to your bag. However, they are only added to the bag upon a successful completion of the level, so you can't just go to all the levels, break all the pots, ring the bell and return to Hideout.
Does anyone know if there is a place to go (without searching this whole damn thread) to see the alternate methods to some levels?
At the moment - NO. But I'm going to take care of this.

Alternate Paths / Solutions for Zack & Wiki:
------------------------------------------------------------------
Warning: DO NOT PEEK UNTIL YOU ARE DONE WITH THE AREA.
Please Contribute - either below on in a PM to ME.
World I:
I. Jungle Ruins
1. "The Fountain Guardian"
2. "King of the Jungle"
World II:
II. Frozen Temple
1. "Icicle of Prosperity"
2. "Frost Breath
I.1:
The alternate solution for getting rid of the fish on the stage.
Solution A: Blow up the guy, attach the worm to the hook, and fish the fish out.
Negative: hard as hell minigame (timed, also) - extremely hard to cash in on the HQ points.
Solution B: Lure the frog down the slide by placing the worm next to the slide. Use the frogbomb
to blow up the fish properly. Negative: you don't get to play the minigame.
I.2:
The alternate solution is for getting rid of the boss character - he may be turned into a totem.
Or he may be plastered into the ground Warner Bros. Cartoons' style.
Solution A: Scare boss with fire, slide behind him, take batbrella, ring bell - causing the whole thing
to collapse.
Solution B: Get to the left side after solving the water puzzle. Ring bell, until the ground shakes, and run back inside the cave.
If done right, a cutscene will play that will show boss monster confused. Walk up behind him and ring bell until he is a totem.
Notive that Solution A yields greater HQ overall, though both methods may yeild "Unpuzzleable" rating.
II.1:
Do you prefer manual labor to cleverness?
Solution A:Break the ice with any of the tools that are readily available in the level. Negative: the most dumbass way to play this one through, you get hoed out of HQ points.
Solution B:Take the transformed snake over to the frog, drop it on the ground, and transform it back into a snake. You will obtain the frog within your reach. Doctor the Icicle Chandelier with (in order): mole drill, icicle, hammer, frog bomb, and saw. Reap the HQ.
II.2: This one doesn't really count, but what the hell....
Alternate puzzle setups based on your level replay. At least two separate solutions.
Solution A:Happens if Rose turns into an ice statue. Place her into the left-hand spot of a broken statue, and use a mirror from the opposing statue. You will bounce the ray off of a horizontal mirror from ABOVE the mirror and into Rose's. I'll leave the rest up to you.
Solution B:Happens if Rose DOES NOT turn into an ice statue. Just solve a harder puzzle than before - I suggest starting with your target (in CAMERA mode) and figuring out the path "backwards." That's what you should always do, to minimize mistakes and get mad HQ.

I understand why you would be pissed on the Skeleton game. First of all, I didn't know what they were. The second one, I rang Wiki near the bones and found the person. Then, I went back to the "flute" level with the Goblin Flute shaped like Wiimote and did that one. I found out pretty much how you beat it after several tries of trying.
First of all, hold it like you're holding it regularly (pointed at screen). Now, it's pretty much like DDR. When the bell goes a little BEFORE the red arrow, juke the wiimote down hard. For example, picture yourself butchering meat and you have the knife in your hand. Then bring it back slowly. Once you learn how to do that you can ease up on your strength juking it down, but you DON'T shake it. That's a misinterpretation.
I hope that helps. :)

I beat all the games as soon as my wife left the room, and I was free to get up and rock them choons "conductah" style. I rocked them hard, and didn't even get caught by the wife! The first one took me three tries, everything else was a piece of cake.

That would have been helpful to know. The little picture had him holding it like you do when you move the trees etc. (pointed at the ceiling). Secondly my backwards shake, (since it said shake the remote) would always register as another hit and mess it all up. Thirdly I would be shaking it on a hold note and in the middle of that it would stop registering and x me for that note... beyond annoying.

You're welcome, Misterhand.
Snake, I never look at the guy with the picture. Usually I just look at the picture that has the picture of the wiimote and forces me to press "A" for next. But yeah, since the skeleton didn't have anything, I was kind of confused. I had to do a trial error thing.
Important:
Oh yeah, and by the way. If he keeps saying "NOOO! THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH!" that means you're off beat. If you start getting the notes on time, you'll see blue notes start popping up on the screen. If you continue or hardly mess up now, you'll start to see the note on the LEFT of this picture:
http://files.turbosquid.com/Preview/Content_on_8_5_2005_14_04_49/music-notes1.jpg3a9330ca-9cce-4552-856c-8b9e453475bcLarge.jpg
Now. If you see the note at the RIGHT of that picture above then keep it up and once the song is over, if you still see that double note thing on the screen, you'll get the prize. If you DON'T see that double note thing, he'll say "Noo that's not good enough! Try again!". So pretty much, get your beat on rhythm and once you see that double note thing you're in the clear.

It's "like" a role playing game. I mean look at how much you get to control characters in a RPG. Most RPGs consist of just micro-management of spells, attacks, weapons, and items don't they?
I'm not gonna' say give it another shot. What I will say is to suggest that you reconsider how you approach the game. The game is no different than a rubik's cube. If you approach it in that manner you may get some more enjoyment out of it.

I have to say that while Zack and Wiki is an awesome game, it is partly the fault of Capcom if it doesn't sell well. The "cute" factor is probably too much for the U.S. market. This is not a game that the average gamer will pick up and buy, since it looks to be geared towards little kids.

In it's first week in Japan, it was 29th. Meaning it sold somewhere around 500-2,000 copies (like 10th was 20k I think).
First week in North America, it probably sold somewhere around 30,000.

Zack & Wiki is delayed in Europe until January 08.
That's tragic, since Adventure game communities are all European, and they are the ones waiting for the game the most.
I don't even need to remind you that LucasArts stated that German sales meant more for later Adventure titles than all of the North America ones...

Ok after beating the first world, all I have to say is LOL.
I just have a bad feeling about this. It's not that the game is HARD..it's just.. Wow.
The concept is SO simple, and yet.. you stare at the screen going "WTF??!".
Where as this may not be my favorite game of all time, I can appreciate what they are doing with this game. I can't say much as I only beat the first world, but pointing..clicking..and turning the wiimote is all you have to do, and it's a GREAT example of what you can do with a Wii game. :applause:
I know I'm already saying stuff everyone already knows/said probably..but still..

The game straight out bombed in Japan. Like horrid sales. In America, the game is pretty much experiencing the Okami syndrome. I mean look at how many Lost Planet ads we saw when that came out to the none we've seen of Zack and Wiki.
The game has sold roughly 50k in the US total. It's sad that Manhunt 2 is outsold this.
Maybe Zack needed to sodimize Wiki.

Now I want to know other ways to take out the big fish, in the first world level 5 or there abouts can I use a bomb on the diving platform somehow....
I am beyond curious as to other approaches to the levels. This is almost to the point of me hunting down a guide so I can see the various approaches, do they even have a guide...no don't tell me I don't need the damn thing.
The wife officially does not like the game which is surprising. She said its stupid.... I don't know if its just been the week, shes had it rough at work. She loved watching me play Zelda, we played baldurs gate together, she plays Mysims, animal crossing, Mario Party, even Trace Memory and Hotel Dusk on the DS. We have played through many adventure PC games, including most recently of season one of Sam & Max.... She went into the room and played Runaway 2 without me. So its not the cartoon aspect....

Ugh. Over the weekend I checked my local Walmarts (I have a giftcard) for the closest Z&W. There were two stores w/in 100 miles that have it, the closest being 10 miles away, the next 30. I went to the closer and sure enough they didn't have it.
I ended up ordering it online.

You answered the question as to why Manhunt 2 outsold Z&W in your first paragraph. Manhunt 2 had coverage in the mainstream media while Z&W has had none.
It will be interesting to see what kind of legs Z&W has. The way the sales are going, it seems almost like it might have a Phoenix Wright effect. I was completely oblivious to PW until I started reading all of the positive comments from people on CAG and other gaming forums. By the time I was convinced I wanted to play it, I couldn't get it anywhere. It took months for me to track down a copy. Maybe the same word of mouth with happen with Z&W and it will get a reprint and decent sales down the line.

pittpizza: before I even begin, I will say this.
I agree - the game looks like a colorful cartoon. The puzzles don't begin until World 2 at the earliest, though. For me, they have not begun until World 4.
No.
MC, its posts like this that encourage me that not every difference of opinion has to end up in an off topic flame war on CAG. Thanks for great posting and a great response to my points; none of what you said was moronic or insulting. To be sure, I barely played the game at all, I only got like 2 hours into it and did not know about some of the (what I would consider) drastic differences in enemies and gameplay later in the game. I was hoping to hear that eventually Zack spanked his golden monkey. Kudos to you for a great and persuasive post!
Now I am going to move onto my bargain bin pickup while I wait for Galaxy to come out. The game is remarkably similar to Z&W: SplinterCell Double Agent.

Sales-wise: just wait until how the game will sell in Europe. Mark my words, some analyst is going to be surprised.

Yeah, I'm not sure whether or not to count the fourth "area" as an actual area or not. I lucked out on that one while playing around with the cannon on top of the airship. Accidentally shot the door off the hangar while taking random shots. I realized quickly the significance of the act, though I still think you should have been forced to put the cannon back down before escaping.

Took them a day to send me a new Wii back. I have sent my Wii in last Friday (early afternoon), and if it's not at my house by the time I get back from work today, it'll be there tomorrow for sure. One week - that's pimp as far as I'm concerned.

I'm at Frost Breath right now. I think I deeply scarred my wife by letting Wiki die in my first attempt. She was like, "Wiki! Nooooooo!!! You killed him!"
Agreed on the second count. I usually play this in 30 min. to 1 hour sessions. The intimidation of starting a new puzzle is often enough to make me take a break, and I know I haven't even gotten to the truly epic ones yet.

That's another thing. There seems to be an awful lot of stuck-getting in this game. That's cool with me, though. I've been known to get me some stuck in the past, but I think my storied Zelda pedigree will serve me well in that department.

Not as much as with a few other titles. Nothing in Z&W would be comparable to, say, the mayo puzzle in Gobliins 2, that took me a few weeks of being stuck in one area (this was before FAQs and in Russia - no hintbooks), and I was almost ready to give up until a solution accidentally manifested itself.
I think the game does a rather good job breaking you into its puzzle world slowly, so that even when you are stuck, you're constantly making progress. The game's hint system is the best, especially since if you use a hint, it goes on your permanent record. I fucked mine up after the ice level, because I beat the boss with no hints, and then re-played it again to see if the Oracle gives you the right hints in both instances. My total count is something absurd like 11, although I've used a couple in the second-to-last level, and probably three or four in the very last level...

50,000 copies isn't a lot. It basically means it was sent to die. But this game has a pretty big following. The people who bought it love it, and the people who have heard about it, want to try it.
I don't agree with Cheapy's assessment that this is the only MUST BUY Wii title. It's a must buy, but it's not the only must buy. Zelda, Wii Play, Metroid, Zack & Wiki are must buys. For me, Super Mario Galaxy isn't a must buy since I already have it. But, Zack & Wiki is a delightful romp to crush the overwhelming number of Ninja games on the market.

Just pretty much hit any button on another controller (it'll turn on) ..and you'll see a cursor with a 2 (or 3 or 4..depending on the wiimotes)

Asshole shrinking potion level. I've got pretty much everything figured out, but there are so many things there that I think might be important, but that also might be total red herrings. Herring. Herrings. Is herring the plural form of itself, or do you need an "s"?
Cutting down the tree at the beginning. Carrying the beaker around when shrunk. Lifting the rock in the beginning. Pouring stuff down the drain. Finding a way to enter the building's pipes. Etc.

I am totally with you there, buddy - I've fucking wandered around that one for a while, trying to fnd out if there is a secondary solution to my troubles.
I loved all of that area - for how fucking reminiscent it was of Goblins and the puzzles that Goblins were "all about" - maybe I should give the original Goblins a spin, yep, I'm going to do just that.

Also, clicking on the snake to get him to jump up? Lame. At one point, I tried to get him to bite the beaker, hoping it would get stuck in his mouth and force him to run away. On to the boss now. Tried about ten times, thought I had it finally, but still died. Why is it that the god damn Iron Maidens can suck you in, but not the bomb? Bullshit! Then supper was ready. Might try it again some time tonight if I can't get some Starcraft going.

Whew. Beat the castle boss and the level after it. Questions about the castle boss: First, is there any way to get full points on the chain-pulling bit? No matter what I do, I always get 10,000/12,000. I'm making sure I grab it only once, pull it down in one smooth motion, etc., but still can't get it. Secondly, and far more importantly... the iron-maiden-vacuum bit. First you know which one to avoid because one won't jump. Then you go with the one with the face inside of it. What then? There's no hint when they open up. Their eye colour doesn't change. Their aura doesn't change. Is it dumb luck? 'Cause that's how I got through, and that's what caused many, many deaths.
The level after that more than made up for the luck-of-the-draw end to the preceding boss fight. Watching the squid slowly cripple the ship only to be undone by my many brilliant counter-attacks was absolutely fantastic. Play to the end of that level and tell me this game looks "kiddy". Motherfucker, that was some disturbing shit.

Answer to the first "spoiler":
One of the iron maidens doesn't flash its eyes at the end. It's hard as all hell to see. In order to get the maximal points for the chain, you have to pull it AFTER all of the ghosts are floating in the room WITHOUT dropping the umbrella once.
As far as the second spoiler is concerned - agreed completely. I can't wait for a couple of my friends to get there, so that I could talk about it and hear their excitement. One of the best "battle" feelings ever - I really dug that level, and everything that followed.

If you want help:
Climb up into the dragon scales. Go up and pull the switch down - the slab falls down. Pull the switch up - his arm goes down with the fang.
Slide down and go get the fang. Take it over to the little statue and "plug" it in. Now the statue starts periodically shooting fireballs. Aim it to knock over the two spiders on the ledge in front of you. Go over to them and turn them into rackets. Then turn the goon into a totem.
Pick up the totem and go past the statue to the "bottom" most ledge. There's this sort of...pair of rails there. Twist the goon so that he'll roll down it like Log (it's big, it's heavy, it's wood!). He'll knock out the two spiders below him and settle into a groove on a lower ledge.
Go back to the still-spitting-fireballs-statue and turn it ALL the way to the right, so it's toward the dragon scales. Go get one of the rackets from earlier and walk under the scales. You'll see a square on the ground. Think of this as a tennis court. Step in, and you'll see Zack holding the racket like a bat. When the statue shoots, swing. You need to time it such that you hit it at the spider that was nearest to you when you started the level. Eventually you'll knock him out.
Go over to him and turn him into a racket (just beacuse). Turn the goon into a totem.
Now, go back tot he slab/bridge you got waaaaaay at the beginning of the level. You can pick it up. Go put it on the same two rails you slide the first goon down. It'll make a see-saw.
Go get the goon totem you just made and roll him down the same way as the first (if you screw it up, another goon will appear near the starting point). He'll land on the see saw. Go get another racket. Now, move the fireball-shooting-statue all the way to the left - you'll see it starts to hit the big boulder.
Then go down to the see saw and jump on it - you'll catapult the goon to the left side. Stay on the right side of the see saw. Eventually, the boulder comes down, and it catapults you across. Pick up the goon you have, and stuff him in the platform that's gushing lava. You'll notice it makes the platform go higher.
Now, go up to the second court, and swing until you knock the treasure down.
Memory is a bit fuzzy at this point, but I think it falls onto the seesaw. You can then pick up the rock near the second boulder, thereby catapulting the treasure over to you.
Then you just ring the bell and get it. I might be wrong on this very last part, but you can probably figure it out then.
Edit: Split into three parts at suggestion by Botticamus. The middle one is probably the most telling, and would be the one that would allow you to finish everything in the level.

You got the last bit right, Strell. Only thing I would add is swing lightly for the bit where you have to hit the spider, and swing hard when you have to hit the chest. I didn't realize you could do a light swing, and wasted about 45 minutes because of this.

Skeleton Game Solution

I'm going to have to chime in with "originally plagued by shortages due to the awful ignorance on the retailers' behalf, Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure is now pretty much guaranteed to be within your reach. Get your copy from any of the fine brick & mortar stores today - or if you hate America, taxes, and love UPS and shipping costs, you can always order your copy at one of the fine on-line retailers, which all support communism. Don't delay - prove to those Europeans that actually care about playing a puzzle-adventure game that you are better than them by playing this one before January 2008. Just like the principal used to say - "In America, it's just because we CAN."
And since the game isn't rare - get the fuck on the ball with the whole "word of mouth" business - we can make Zen's topic a reality.

Also, while I have your attention, is second part of your name referencing Stephen Colbert? I've always wondered, and kinda figured so, but I didn't want to make a fatheaded assumption.

Yeah, I joined around the same time that Colbert adressed Bush directly at the White House 2006 Correspondence Dinner. I recall a friend of mine was constantly showing me some dumb shit that was being said about the Wii on CAG...
I needed a user name that my mother-in-law wouldn't search for, since prior to her "stumbling" over my old blog I've always had the noble ideal of signging all the dumb shit I said online with my own name. However, that changed quite quickly when some of the things that I talked about and some language that I chose to use could indirectly upset my loved one (girlfriend - now wife), and give her more grief in life.
So, MarioColbert will do...

Tomorrow, Toys'R'Us are going to give me a $25 Gift Card for purchasing a title that I knew I was going to have. It's popularity is massive, and it makes little sense that a large store would give people discounts on something they want. It's kind of like giving discounts for candy. This teaches kids that CANDY is what they should be eating, and poor broccoli, asperagus, and other great veggies are given the shaft.
Zack & Wiki is good for your soul in the same way that vegetables are good for your body. I'm not looking towards making sense here. You need to play this game and you need to understand its magic, despite the crazy-go-nuts "everything stops" syndrome of a Super Mario title being out there. Shit, if you haven't gotten it yet, it'll cost you $15 + tax if you get it at Toys'R'Us with the gift card - and that's a pretty good deal.
Golden Monkey.
Pirates.
Treasures.
Bunnies.
Snakes.
Ghosts!
Awesomness.
I'm serious - you'll beat Galaxy sooner or later. What the fuck are you going to play then? (Fire Emblem is good too).

Ah, another level down. Had to use two tickets because I kept fucking up my timing on the bit where you trip Beardy McBlueskin. Getting full points on the sword bit would be a total bitch, though not as bad as the rotating puzzle in one of the fire levels. There was some horrendous slow-down this time around. Also... Rose = cutest totem ever. That's right. I said it.

That's my plan.
Although I'm buying it for my wife (big puzzle fan) but from reading a lot of posts this seems to be a really hard game. She's slowly getting into games, not a n00b but definitely not a hardcore gamer yet. Will she struggle to the point it's not fun or will she be able to get far and enjoy it?

The game's hint system should prevent this. You sacrifice pride, points, and coins (though it's hard not to have a billion coins) for every hint you get.

There's a few levels that are kinda ridiculous..but once you figure it out you can't help but to laugh at the obvious..
The more you struggle, the better it feels once you figured it out!

Just beat the game. Impressions are as follows:
Fucking awesome.
What, you want me to be more specific? Fine.
The Visuals|
Damn fine looking. Loved the Goons, Johnny, the Squid, and the Swellosaurus Jr. Slowdown in the second last level was quite bad. Some very nice looking effects, especially on the ice levels. Chasing the frog onto Rose looked a little disturbing. The way he twitched when he was on her face was... not right...
Sound|
Good, but a lot of the better tunes seemed underutilized. Loved the snippets of voice-acting, especially Johnny's. Even liked the "Zack-uuuuuu!" Shit, I loved that.
Humour|
It's no Monkey Island. Still, it's got some good bits. 90% of these involve Johnny. Woah-hey!
The Puzzles|
The meat of the game. Some really fantastic ones, like chasing the frog into the pile of bombs on the second last level and destroying the big icicle with the myriad weapons. Some motions just seemed a little wonky, though. Throwing the anchor and rotating the laser come to mind instantly. I thought there was something wrong with catching the gator hands, but it's actually a lot deeper than I had imagined. You don't block where the target is, you block between the hand and the target. Still, I wish the target wasn't off the fucking screen so often). Best level's still the squid level, a million times over. That was some fantastic stuff. A little disappointed that some of the puzzles didn't take into account that there was a far more reasonable solution to them. For example, the snow sweeper guy. Why do I have to totemize a goon to put under a ladder to climb up a building to shovel a pile of snow onto the ice? Why not just, you know, take some of the snow off the ground? Same goes for putting the sand in the eye of the security system on the second last level. Considering that I can walk right beside the damn thing, you'd think I'd be able to just pour it right in. Why do I have to throw it into the wind from 30 feet away? Looking forward to the hidden treasures.
...
PLUND-ARRRRR!

Some of the hints are useless. I burned through two hints on the baby dragon level that told me things I already knew:
Hint #1: "The dragon is holding the treasure chest!" No kidding. I can see that.
Hint #2: "You can calm down the baby dragon by interacting with it!" Yes, and I've done that several times.
I ran out of money, so I had to solve it myself anyway.

Generally, the boss level hints do tend to be this way. After beating the Ice Level boss (on my own) I went back to see if the hints just give away mirror positions. I used three dolls without getting anything - the hints were like "this is the cannon you need to shoot out of," "this thing focuses the light," and "you can pick up these here mirrors."
The only time I really needed the hints were in the last two levels of the game, and both times the hints were rather not-helpful, though more in the last level rather than in the penultimate one.
The Crotch:
CONGRATS! I'm really glad you've beaten it prior to Fire Emblem / Super Mario Galaxy taking up all of your gaming time. I agree with pretty much everything you've said.
In my opinion, the puzzles alone make the damn game. It's amazing how consistent they are in "making sense" despite the obvious "why don't I just do X with my FIST?" There were a few moments where I felt that the controls "betrayed" me (LAST LEVEL SPOILER: Had to ask ScrubKing for the anchor tossing to work - was exceptionally embarrasing since I did it by accident at first, and then died while trying to shoot little guys into the Barbaros' Nipple Cannons), but I was rather excited about the game overall.
I will give a critique to the "hidden treasures" bit in the game.
In order to get the hidden treasures, you need to get "hints" - little "riddles" which are called Ancient Lores. To get them, you need to Find them with good old Treasure-Hunting bunny. and that's a problem, unless you've been mad involved with this for the whole point of the game.
This is the only real gripe I have - once the Lore is obtained, its little "riddle" needs to be solved in a level. It's a bit harder than you might think, though the first few are extremely "obvious." The new treasures give you more treasure maps, and more exciting stuff to hunt down. Supposedly, there is an item that is an upgrade to the treasure-hunter's ship, so he comes back immediately. Once you get that, only money is an issue in your conquest to procure more Ancient Lore.
EDIT: Just to ensure you understand: solving those riddles is unspeakable fun for me, but I assume some would find it "boring."

So, would you please explain just how the anchor tossing bit works? I got it going pretty good, but every time I tried to throw it, nothing would happen. I made more and more exaggerated tosses as time went on, tried different angles, etc. It was just dumb luck that got it. Also, is there ever any use for the worm straw? Is it used for a hidden treasure or something?

Worm Straw - no use whatsoever. It is, simply, an item that you are likely to miss in your books.
Spoiler: Swing the Wii Remote until you ride spinnaz you ride spinnaz, don't stop, and then POINT forward and hold it as if "pointing" at the target ahead.
I got all 50 of the "Ancient Lore" scrolls. Hells yeah.
I got Super Mario Galaxy, also, but I don't want to play it until my wife and I finish dinner, which is being cooked right now
I also got all but one secret treasure in world one, and a few of the Ice World.... Shit's fun. Love this game.

Well, after you beat the game, your treasure hunter can find these things called Ancient Lore. He'll bring them back from his travels - just make sure to use the five-chest spot to get five of them at a time. Also, the area needs to be "mostly cleared" - just keep sending him to the same spot.
This is rather problematic, however, because if you haven't gone proper treasure hunting throughout the game (which I have, but I still needed quite a bit to catch up to the Lores), chances are you're missing a few other things.
Here's how I would play it:
Do you have the uber-fast boat yet? If you do, the rabbit should run off and come back with the treasure immediately (as in: without you having to go to a level and then come back). If that's the case, keep sending him to the 5-chest spot until he starts bringing back the Lore. After this, keep sending him until you have all the lore. If you don't have the fast boat... there are several methods.
If you wish not to cheat, you're going to have to send your guy in until you get the item mentioned in the spoiler - it's not exactly "easy" to do that, however...
If you are willing to cheat, but only partially, I'll give you all the Jungle Level Riddles (Ancient Lore entires) first - they should be more than enough to give you enough treasure maps and whatnot to obtain the item I need. After that, just save up a few grand (i.e. get the bird on The Time Guardian, or if you're a masochist, you can reply the penultimate level) and invest in nothing but treasure hunting.
WARNING: THE FOLLOWING SPOILER CONTAINS ANCIENT LORE ENTIRES THAT CAN ONLY BE USED BY THOSE THAT HAVE COMPLETED THE GAME ONCE. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Jungle Ruins Riddles: (a.k.a. Ancient Lore)
01. The sound of a flute reversed.
02. Run laps around the parent with the child.
03. A sky car awaits to travel to and fro above the monsters.
04. Sliding and leaping into both water and vacuum.
05. A big man waits to hear the sound and lose his limbs.
06. Six snarling blocks of wood for the dinner pot.
07. A lifeline does somersaults in the sky.
08. A bold vandal leaves everything broken.
09. From the sky a solution to anger shall fall.
10. A large body blown apart by greed.
11. The hand of a giant keeping a rolling stone's path straight.
12. Five sacrifices to the water's delight. Please let me know if things that I wrote make any sense at all. If something doesn't make sense, holla (PM or otherwise) and I'll explain it to you.
Last but not least - you can see how many "hidden" treasures there are in a level based on how many little gray icons are above the header in level selection menu. :)

I'm not sure why people are saying the game is rare. Every major retailer I've seen has had the game in stock. Best Buy even had three rows dedicated to the game. The only other game to have more than that was Super Mario Galaxy.

It might be that some stores aren't putting it up in the new release sections or in places where you think it should be put. Like I was just in eb and it was on the bottom row with the spine facing out instead of the new release section.
But yeah it has been at pretty much ever store I have been in. toys r us, target best buy, fred myers ect.
