That honestly sounds freaking awesome. Assuming the controls are utilized well and there aren't a bunch of gestures that come off as broken as in say Super Monkey Ball, this will be a truly unique/awesome title.

EDIT: OK, I just watched that gameplay video, and I'm hella excited about this one. Wow.

I think she meant it took 2 hours because she kept dying and had to restart. If she did mean the level was that long though, I'd defniitely have almost no interest in this.

Regardless of how long the levels are, the main thing is that you start the level over again after innocently doing the wrong thing (looking into a pot and finding a snake that kills you). That's a bullshit thing to do and the only way that that wouldn't be a big deal is if the levels were short (5-10 minutes at most) or you could save during a level.

^ It does seem kinda cheap, but if what we've heard of the game is indeed an accurate representation of what it'll be like, then it sounds like once you've devoted the time to figuring out how to progress through a stage, then the work is done...I imagine going back through a stage to get where you were won't take too much time once you've already figured out what you have to do to get there. I could be wrong, though - it could feel very cheap and frustrating, but so far, I'm getting the impression that it's kind of an incentive to learn the solutions to the puzzles as you play, in case you wind up needing to head back through.

It would really depend on how long the level is and how many of these traps are in each stage.

Well the graphics look pretty good...but I Don't know about the gameplay. Looks kinda repetitive/boring ,but maybe it'll be good. That "restarting 2 hour long levels" thing sounds pretty bad as well...

But I guess it's a cheaper game for a reason...

Considering the game is still a work in progress, perhaps it would better to wait and see if the restart the entire level thing stays in the final release. I mean Treasure Island Z isn't even confirmed to be the final name for this thing.

By the way, can I get a link on the restart the whole level again thing? I want to see it in context of the preview.

The goal for each stage is to find and obtain a treasure chest located within and the difficulty varies between puzzles, but even the earliest areas had some players perplexed. We don't view this is a drawback, but a plus -- genuine gameplay hurdles are a rare commodity in today's industry and we're pleased to see a game that doesn't make any excuses for being hard. It is also mean. If you mess up at any point during a puzzle, Zack will die and you will have to restart the challenge from scratch. Some of the challenges lasted between 10 and 20 minutes depending on the player. Amazingly -- and this truly takes a lot of nerve -- a company representative said one particular puzzle in the game can take as long as two hours to complete. How would you like to die at the end of that one and have to restart the entire process? The game ranks you on time and whether or not you asked for a hint and compiles and end score based on both. Theoretically, there's a lot of replay value to be had for gamers who want the best score.

I've been stoked for this game since I saw the first screens and heard the Monkey Island-esque description. I'm astonished they're going to sell this at a reduced price, because it could easily justify $50 based on what I've seen.

I bet they're insecure that they only have a little island to themselves, like the brits. So they overcompensate for that with titles that are larger than Strell's Penis.

So the source is obviously highly suspect, but on the latest Wiik in review Cassimasina, Bozon, and Chobot all say that this game is seriously awesome and a must buy. They are supposedly going to be giving it the same treatment they gave eternal darkness and pimping it non-stop in the hope that it sells. They've even been so bold as to call it one of their top 3 anticipated wii titles. I always take IGN with a large grain of salt, but I hope that this game is actually awesome.

BUY ZACK & WIKI CAMPAIGN 2007 (http://wii.ign.com/articles/797/797414p1.html)

Not since Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem on GameCube have we demanded that readers purchase a videogame, but the time has come (again) for us to take a stand. Capcom has a fantastic point-and-click puzzle-adventure on its hands. It's clever. It's difficult. It will make you think. It's also beautiful, perfectly capitalizing on Wii's strengths.

Sounds great as far as I am concerned.

From the Kotaku Hands-on:

The E3 demo of Capcom (http://kotaku.com/gaming/capcom/)'s Zack & Wiki: Quest For Barbaros' Treasure (http://kotaku.com/gaming/zack-%26-wiki%7C-quest-for-barbaros.-treasure/) was a much more fleshed-out affair than what was shown at Capcom's Spring Gamers Day. It also happened to be a much more awesome affair, with an expanded set of playable locations showing off the puzzle adventure game's more diverse, non-jungle environments. I played through to completion one of the game's lava filled levels, tasked with putting out a series of fires to reclaim the room's haunted treasure, a piece of Barbaros' golden armor. How awesome was it? So awesome.

There are some frustrations that one may come across, but Capcom has largely remedied that by making the game fun, the load times short, and the attempts to retrying to finish much more palatable. It took me three attempts to make my way through the level, as the game suffers from/features trial and error attempts to unravel each level's series of puzzles. Presented with a water bottle and flowing water, I hurried back to the empty fountain vessel. That was wrong, I later discovered, as a hard hat apparently holds much more liquid.

Fortunately, Capcom's dev team has decided to reward players with getting it right the first time, giving them bonus points for a job done well and done the first time. You'll probably want to play through it a second time, just to perfect your score. The trial and dying frustration from early builds has been addressed as mulligan tickets will give you an opportunity to revive the your character.

There's a kind of playful atmosphere and cartoony logic that makes Zack & Wiki so—and I'm using this not insincerely, not in some gag-worthy way—charming. I longed for the opportunity to play it again, with a group of backseat gamers to help me through the tasks. It's really quite good.
Oops. I meant awesome.

With this and Phoenix Wright, Capcom could very well bring back the adventure genre (along with Telltale keeping it strong on PCs). God love them for taking some chances and I hope it pays off for them.

Yea I was thinking of preordering this today with my credit. But then I might want Dewy that comes out the month before.

I've heard that this is the better game of the two.

August 7, 2007 - Capcom doesn't want us to show you any screenshot or movie spoilers for its upcoming Wii adventure title, Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure. We can understand why - this is a game, after all, whose main challenge is simply to figure out the method to completing each of its many stages, all of them presenting unique hurdles. As much as we've maintained that it would be worth sacrificing a single level in order to demonstrate just how clever and rewarding the adventure is, the studio isn't having it. But it has at least let us pull back the curtain, even if just a little bit, to show you some direct-feed movies and screenshots taken directly from some of the puzzle-heavy environments that Z&W traverse in search of treasure.

Today, we've posted almost 20 new screenshots and four new movies, all in 480p, for your viewing pleasure. Obviously, none of the media contains spoilers, so if you're been airing on the side of caution in an attempt to avoid accidental revelations, you needn't worry. Nothing you will see today will illuminate any of the puzzles - these videos only take you into the levels for a look around.

All of the media showcases four different levels from the newest demo of Z&W, sent to IGN Wii earlier today. We've played these levels before, and we've written about them. In addition to an in-game tutorial, which is featured almost in full in our media section already, there are three stages set in the stylistic Jungle Ruins and one in Barbaros' Castle.

http://wiimedia.ign.com/wii/image/article/811/811310/zack-wiki-quest-for-barbaros-treasure-20070807044358308.jpg (http://wiimedia.ign.com/wii/image/article/811/811310/zack-wiki-quest-for-barbaros-treasure-20070807044358308.jpg)

The only relatively new stage is called the Flute of the Growlin' Goblins, and it is also the only stage that we're unable to take any videos or screens from. In it, Z&W must figure out a means to attain a treasure chest which rests on top of a pillar in the middle of a circular arena. Below it, a group of fanged cannibalistic tribals - as pictured in our top story image - guard the platform, but periodically eat from a giant pot of stew. Without giving the order away, you must do everything from stun a snake to devise a sleeping potion, knock down some coconuts and turn a crank as you ride a vehicular platform, in order to finally make it through. As always, the visual presentation, filled with over-the-top characters and a host of stunning particle and lighting effects, is second to none.

I've heard that this is the better game of the two.

I don't think there's any question that Z&W will be the better game, based on what I have seen/read. But Dewy's Adventure looks like fun, and I frankly want both games. I think it's good to support Konami and Capcom as third parties developing robust original IPs exclusively for the Wii.

Wrong. Zack looks infinitely better than Dewy.

Frankly, I think they both look good, but I think Zack & Wiki will have infinitely more depth to the gameplay. Dewy, while pretty, is fundamentally just a marble tilt game with some meterological effects added to the mix. Zack & Wiki finds an infinite number of ways to use the remote, but more importantly, uses those techniques to augment what looks to be a very sound adventure game structure filled with complex and diverse puzzles. I think there will be more meat on the bones.

I have Dewy preordered in full (Trade 2 Get 1 free Wii deal from a few weeks back) but I'm considering switching it for Z&W and getting the $10 back on my Edge card. Or just cancelling it entirely and waiting on both. Man, it's times like this when I really wish I could get advance reviews. I'm sure we'll see nothing on these games review-wise until after they are released.

I appreciate EGM for reinvigorating the Okami to Wii rumors, but I otherwise hate them for their consistently backhanded treatment of the Wii. And seeing as they're the ONLY media outlet I've heard offer less than glowing remarks about Zack & Wiki (IGN, Kotaku, and even crotchety old GameSpot have had nothing but raves for it), I'm just going to chalk this up to their chronic Wii hate.

IGN has probably played the game more than anyone right now, including quite a bit SINCE E3, so I think they're the best judge of the game's potential at this point.

They also have Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 in the so-so category, and if it is anything remotely close to the first, then that is flat out wrong.

They also have Killzone 2 in the good category, yet in the same issue (actually only 1 page away listed as Dumest A.I. at E3) they are saying how horrible the AI is.

They also have Metroid Prime 3 in the good category (not Awesome) yet look at it's reviews.

Not saying this will be a perfect game, but as always, the early stuff really doesn't matter. Look at all the big 5 page previews these magazines do on games saying how good they will be, and how innovative they are and then how badly they turn out to be.

EGM are "tEh h3rDc0rEz". Unless a game has "extreme weaponry" and "badass" lead characters, you'll rarely find them giving it an enthusiastic recommendation. I wouldn't get too wrapped up in their "impressions" of unreleased Wii titles.

Both Dewey and Z&W look great, but they are different games. Dewey is more of an action platformer, while Z&W looks like thoughtful puzzler wrapped around an interesting story. They probably complement each other well.

I've not had a problem with it yet as I've been very underwhelmed by the Wii so far. Only Zelda, Metroid and SPM were purchase worthy to me, and SPM was medicore IMO.

The Zack and Wiki stuff doesn't upset me either as I've never liked the genre...but they should give it a fair shake if it is a good adventure game.

At any rate, I will be annoyed if they keep it up, as comments on graphics etc even in the great games like Metroid are getting old (i.e. see Shane Bettenhausen in the lastest 1up Show). The game library is starting to shape up this fall, so they will soon have no excuse for the negativity.

i would love to have a demo for this game and so some of these puzzles for myself. either on the wii or on some nintendo site. i've been trying to watch too many trailers so the puzzles won't be spoiled.

i'm going to own this game at some point though. i may wait though depending on how much other stuff i'm playing come october and november.

Hironobu Takeshita: No, that was something that we didn't plan at the start. Originally when a player failed they had to go all the way back to the start of the puzzle and try again. When we were focus testing the game in America, many people thought it was too cruel and annoying to force players back to the start of a puzzle. So we decided to include this feature.

So did this game get a lot easier?? I hope not. :(

http://wii.ign.com/articles/822/822000p1.htmlI don't think it will be a problem. The TGS hands-on implied that the tickets weren't easily earned, therefore to be used sparingly, and if you think it makes it too easy (when it's really just saving you from having to redo everything you've already figured out), you could just not use them.

I like that there are multiple ways to solve some puzzles so there is some replay value there.

Hmm, interesting that it's more of a puzzle game than adventure game (according to Cheapy.) Hopefully this still ends up being good, as I've been looking forward to it. Although it not being like an old-school point-and-click adventure game is disappointing.

Yeah, if it's fun I'll still get it. I just always expected it to be an adventure game.

It'd be like thinking Halo was always an FPS, but then you play it and it's a RTS (well it will be soon), although that's a little dramatic.

We don't post Zack & Wiki screenshots out of obligation or monetary compensation. No, it's done out of pure love. Maybe it's actually guidance from a higher power, as I saw someone describe the Wii adventure game as an "average puzzler" and I expected nothing short of a proper smiting from the Lord. Regardless of our religious fervor for all things Zack, Wiki and Barbaros, some of these new and newish shots illustrate the new "whiteboard" feature that allows three backseat gamers to draw things on the screen. Arrows, circles, the occasional "FU"—it all adds to the multiplayer experience. Enjoy. That's an order.

I like how this game, Mario Galaxy, and a few others allow other players a degree of interaction in what is otherwise a single-player game. I think anyone who's married or otherwise has a significant other or just friends who game know that lots of times gaming in person means one person playing and one or more people simply watching. This is a nice way to let them be a little more involved, especially since most of the commercials/videos I've seen for Zack & Wiki emphasize that it's the kind of game where people besides the player are encouraged to point out solutions and help out.

Even more of a reason to pick it up... I have had the few occasions where I am specifically describing where to go on the screen, and my wife just doesn't see it (or doesn't understand my highly visual words) Either way this (I am sure) will lead to less "give me the remote" type situations.

Cool news.

One thing that people seem to miss is that this is a point-and-click adventure game, and that genre all but died a while ago. So the idea that a game in this genre can sell big is a bit misguided.

I want the game to do well because I like the genre, but if people stopped buying these types of games years ago it is going to take something special to make people start buying it again. While I think this game is good I don't know if it's good enough to revive the genre for anyone outside of Capcom.

Scrub,

I wouldnt say the genre died, its actually alive and doing ok on the PC front. I dont really ever remember it breaking into the console front to heavily.

Check out justadventure.com if you have never done that.

Even on PCs the genre has a much smaller presence than it used to. Its mostly small groups that do these things now. You dont have big companies that are commited to these things the same way that LucasArts was back in the day, for example.

Snake2715
10-18-2007, 03:06 PM
I cant quote people now for some reason. I hear you Dr. Mario Kart its just that there is a surprisingly good amount fo adventure games still coming out. In other countries its a very strong genre maybe they will bring the game over there and find a large interest?

Eitherway beyond Lucas and Sierra (not being the real Sierra anymore) you are right there are no "EA's" of the adventure game business anymore. I guess the Adevnture Company is probably the largest publisher that I can think of off the top of my head.

I for one am lookin g forward to this game, and cannot wait.

I don't think anyone's expecting this to be a huge seller. It wouldn't be $39.99 if Capcom thought it would be a blockbuster.

It could be a solid niche/cult game and turn a profit though.

Oops heh sorry I didn't realize the title change and then change back <_<. I agree with you guys this ones more of a niche title for those of us who remember and like these kinds of games. It could surprise people and do real well but it would need some good reviews and good word of mouth for that to happen. I'm definatly giving it a go when it comes out I love these kinds of point and click adventure games( I would reccommend a guide to people though especially if your new to the genre. These kinds of games can get annoying fast when you get stuck ala metroid.)

A lot of adventure fanatics are against JustAdventure+, in my experience. www.adventuregamers.com is a much better option. (This is my personal opinon and preference, though.)

As for adventure games being dead, that's a myth that has been going on for years. There are many PC adventures released every year, it's just that most people outside the small niche adventure community don't pay attention to them.

I run a GameSpot Union about adventure games, by the way. http://unions.gamespot.com/classicadventur

Wow I had no idea there was friction between the two sites. I rarely visit either forum. I go in spurts personally. I get a good adventure game in and then that gets me on a kick of adventures for a while... then it switches to a few good consoles games... then by that point the season changes and I get wrapped up in something outdoors, or my house projects etc... Now that winter is coming I am back in the mix and looking for what to play next.

I will check out your union.

Thanks for the info.

Preorder bonus from Capcom: "For a limited time receive a free Zack & Wiki™ limited edition 3D lenticular puzzle with purchase." (You do have to pay around $7 for shipping, so it's not really free.)

BUT, it seems to say you can also get the preorder deal from GameStop, though I don't know if it has to be instore, since I see no indication of the bonus on the GameStop website.

"This Zack & Wiki lenticular 3D puzzle is now available as a free gift with purchase of Zack & Wiki: Quest For Barbaos' Treasure . This is an exclusive offer through Gamestop and the official Capcom Store. There are very limited quantities, so pre-order immediately."

From IGN's Wii-k in Review (via GAF - thanks Alkaline!)

Zack and Wiki
- Was supposed to have the exclusive review on Zack and Wiki, but they couldn't complete it - stuck on a really hard puzzle.
- Maybe half-way through the game, and don't have any concerns about the length (about 15 hours).
- Difficulty is great, ramps up as the game progresses. Everytime you step into a new level, you're confronted with more new and unique puzzles.
- Puzzles and controls are lots of fun. Definitely recommend it - will be an editor's choice. Go and preorder it right now. One of the best 3rd party games on Wii. One of the very few Wii games that simply could not be replicated on another console. A "must-have title".
- The puzzles are challenging, you may need to even get help from friends (which you can). "Best designed puzzles in a decade" - probably superior to Zelda. "The quality and consistency of these puzzles is just insane."
- Don't have many complaints - wish they would supply more puzzles through WiiConnect24, sometimes need to use exact motions yet sometimes it's pretty much guess-work, sometimes trial-and-error gameplay might annoy.
- But it's a really good game. Saw the GameInformer review - definitely not a mid-7's game.
- Really smart puzzles and really beautiful (though sometimes framerate takes a dip). The animation is awesome - looks like you're watching a cartoon. Lots of polish and little elements that many other developers would not even think about including. "Insane production values."
- Next week there will be massive coverage of the game.

Guess this moves off of my "maybe" list onto my "order now" list.

Fucking expensive next couple of months. If some of the games on my "maybe" list don't turn out to be crap, I might be pretty low on disposable income by the end of the year.

What's this about Zack & Wiki using WiiConnect24, though? 'Cause if the game depends on that, I'm boned.

Going to listen to the Wiik In Review right now. I'll get back to you. The puzzles seem mind-bending.

"You should go and pre-order it right now for sure, it's one of the better, maybe in the best third party games I play."

"It's really cool. It's really smart."

"The one that gets me in Zack and Wiki is the fact that you can take pretty much any of these Wii games no matter how innovative they claim to be. Even things like Wii Sports, just any of those games and almost all the stuff out there can be done with any controller. It doesn't really matter that you've got a Wii remote. In the sense of Zack and Wiki, that's not the case at all. There's so many things in that game where you just CANNOT do it unless you've got this crazy, maniputable, I don't even know if that's a word, controller, and be kind of interacting with games in an all new way, which is obviously the reason for Wii's existence. So as a poster child for the Wii, Zack and Wiki is basically a must have title.

"The quality and consistency of these puzzles is just insane."

"Oh God. Insane production values!"

"Some complaints. One of them is going to be is that I wish they would offer them more, more in via downloads, they would have used Wii Connect 24 and we could have gotten more levels to main replay value."

Two important things to note is that IGN says the game is very challenging, and even though they were supposed to already have the review up they didn't because they hadn't finished it (couldn't solve some puzzles).

My preorder has been placed, looking forward to it. I only hope it's humanly possible to complete both this and Phoenix Wright before Mario Galaxy is out. With Battalion Wars and Guitar Hero in between. Ahhh!

Don't rush. Savor the moment. ;)

Don't rush. Savor the moment. ;)Well, luckily it will likely be a fairly easy game to come back to (i.e. I won't be wondering what the hell was going on when I left it). Because unless it absolutely blows my mind, I'll not be putting of Galaxy to finish it.

9, eh? It begins. Though I await the inevitable 6 from some major outlet.

What's this about Zack & Wiki using WiiConnect24, though? 'Cause if the game depends on that, I'm boned.

I think it was something to the tune of more puzzles downloadable, but I'm not really sure.

Since availability in local stores may be sketchy (not listed in ads, not a mainstream title) I decided to pre-order from Amazon. Decided to take them up on their free trial of "Amazon Prime" as well so I could get free two-day shipping.

They process the order, and kick back an "expected ship date" of 10/29. For a game being released on 10/23! Glad they give a free trial of this service, since there's no way I'm going to pay for 2-day shipping that takes 8 days!

There estimated shipping dates are rarely right. I usually get stuff much faster than they say.

Guess they like to under promise and over deliver rather than vice versa.

Well, these reviews coming out, especially IGNs, are really tempting me to get this game. The style didn't seem to be my kind of game, but with the reviewers talking about how its one game that just can't be done on any other system really makes me want to try it. This is what the Wii was made for, and I hope it delivers.

Care of sk3tch at GAF, here is the NP review summary:

- Combines clever use of the Wii remote and positively brilliant puzzle design
- Variety is astounding
- Piecing it all together comes with a great sense of satisfaction
- You will be scratching your head with some regularity, the puzzles are never so esoteric to leave you feeling cheated
- Charm to burn; with an energetic sense of humor and an appealing visual style reminiscent of Wind Waker.
- One of the Wii's best-looking titles; not for technical merit but because of the care that went into creating a very complete aesthetic.
- Animation is especially fantastic
- 20+ hours; adventure is plenty long - never, ever drags
- Tons of extra stuff to do.
- Concern about name of game; may not do well at retail because of it.
- Truly deserves to be a big hit
- One of the system's most creative, entertaining titles.

I pre-ordered this at gamestop I'm hoping they'd get the puzzle in if not that's ok as long as I get this game since it looks pretty fun to play and the screenshots from the game looks pretty good also I really like puzzles so I can't wait to play this game plus the new PW ship date is the 23rd so i'll be picking up that too. ^_^

No s--t! I didn't realize that. I have been reading the thread the whole time but had no clue it came out so soon. Will it be in stores tomorrow, or not until Wednesday? I live about 30 miles from where a store will have it, so I don't want to go tomorrow if stores won't have it until Wednesday.

I bought TMNT and RE 4 today with that coupon from email. Those will be returned and that money will go to this game. This looks great (silently prays for a Wii Monkey Island also. A Police Quest would be nice to :)).

IGN: 9
http://wii.ign.com/articles/829/829301p1.html

Looks like we have a bonified hit on our hands. They must have been farther than they thought when they got stuck the first time since they claimed to be 15 hours in and halfway through. Now they say it's a little over 15 hours total. Though I suppose 15 hours might not include getting stuck and restarting levels.

Glad it lives up to the hype, yay for replayability/multiple ways to complete puzzles, and hopefully the framerate issues aren't too terrible.

Closing Comments
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure is a dumb name, plain and simple, but don't let that (or the game's seemingly "too kiddie" exterior) deter you from picking it up because this is one of Wii's very best offerings. Not only is it beautiful, taking visual cues from Wind Waker, but it's really clever and equally rewarding. When you solve one of the game's booby-trapped levels, you will absolutely feel like you've accomplished a genuine feat. The puzzles will work your brain over in some cases. Bearing that in mind, Z-Dub would appear to be exactly the opposite of what its name and art style suggest – this is a game for adults and not so much kids, in my opinion.

Z-Dub is not flawless. The title's occasional die-and-retry gameplay challenges will be called cheap or even be cited as poor design by some critics. I can see the point, too, and yet I'm reluctant to make the same critique, for even when I died – and I definitely did die, trust me – I felt compelled to try again (over and over, if the situation called for it). Meanwhile, although I'm very happy with the bulk of Wii remote mechanics, a few gestures seem finicky. Finally, the title would have surely benefited from a smoother fluidity throughout – not to say the framerate is ever unbearable, because it's not, but with so much IR-based pointer functionality in levels, I'd have preferred that everything ran at 60 frames.

All things considered, though, Z&W lives up to the hype that we helped generate. The end product is one of those welcomed surprises – an unpredictably top-quality undertaking whose winning marriage of sometimes-genius environmental puzzles and beautiful graphics will suck you in. It also perfectly encapsulates what I always hope for but seldom see from third parties: an original Wii project that really makes the most of the console. And don’t' forget, Z-Dub retails for $39.99, $10 cheaper than most Wii games.

I've stated it before and I'll happily state it again: buy Zack & Wiki. If you do, maybe we'll get a sequel with twice as many levels and WiiConnect24 support for downloadable levels.
Another Take
from Mark Bozon (http://wii.ign.com/email.html)
We’ve been covering Z&W for a long time running, and my enjoyment with the game still stems from the same place it always did. Zack & Wiki is an entertaining point-and-click design, but more than that it’s a game that uses the Wii remote in a fashion that sets the entire product apart from anything you can experience on other consoles. With most Wii games thus far it’s as simple as adding waggle or putting IR into an otherwise cookie cutter design – most first party Nintendo games are even guilty of this. With Z-Dub, though, it goes beyond that, as the game asks the user to perform actions that simply can’t be done without the Wii remote. This is the type of engaging, innovative interaction we all imagined when seeing the controller for the first time, and it’s exciting to see a developer that really gets what the system is all about. Even more than Mario Galaxy, Zelda, or Wii Sports, Zack & Wiki delivers an experience that you can only find on Wii.

Holy crap. I had no idea this was an adventure game in the style of Full Throttle. I'm pretty amazed that I never knew this until I checked out the IGN review. As soon as I get my hands on a Wii, this is going to be my most anticipated title next to Super Mario Galaxy.

Only if people are willing to support the game.

If a Wii game comes out with a 9.0 score, which is extremely rare, and the game still manages to bomb, why should 3rd parties be willing to invest any more time and energy into the Wii?

What the fuck is this kiddie shit?" While parents will say "Oh, is that the new Disney Saturday Morning cartoon?" and the kids will get pissed off cause it's not. And Capcom won't advertise it even in a friggin' store ad, so know one will know it exists.

I'm hoping it does well because that can only mean good things, but I'm generally not holding my breath. Though I may have to tell every retail employee to recommend this game to shoppers.

Buy this and then pray for Space Quest, Police Quest, King's Quest, Quest for Glory, and any other Sierra titles Im forgetting.

Off the subject but the Legend of Kyranida series for the PC were very good adventure games. I wouldn't mind seeing more of those, though it will never happen.

Doesn't the Wii seem like the 100% logical next step for these adventure game companies to make great money?

Gamespot review--8.5

http://www.gamespot.com/wii/puzzle/projecttreasureislandz/review.html It hurts me right there that they still have that game filed under Project Treasure Island Z. :-(

But great review!

All told, Zack & Wiki is a winner. It might not win you over with its characters or story, but it will with its wonderfully crafted puzzles and sharp control mechanics. It's just the sort of game Wii owners have been pining for, the sort of game that blends accessibility and challenge into one seamless whole, and does it without devolving into yet another minigame collection. And best of all? This game is retailing for only $40. If you own a Wii, Zack & Wiki belongs in your collection.

GameTap has many of the Sierra adventure titles, along with adventures from many other companies (though they sadly and notably are missing the LucasArts adventure library). I've made a playlist (http://www.gametap.com/home/profile/playlist?plid=5565571) of all the adventure games on GameTap. The current membership deal (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=154828) is a year of GameTap for the equivalent of less than $5/month.

Back on topic: Zack and Wiki releases tomorrow! Just have to wait for my Amazon order to ship. :)
