Driv3r, no because of the insane amount of glitches...
It plays like an alpha test version, not even beta material...
True Crime, I beleive was rated pretty high, it was a solid game and it had different mechanics, which made it quite enjoyable imo...

But countless games just get blown off as a gta clone only because they are the same genre. That is sort of BS because there are tons of games in every genre. They are basically saying that the genre can only allow 1 series and everything else iis automatically a copy.

I don't think True Crime would have had you stopping random crimes. The city might have been a lot smaller as well.

I think a great number of the other games wouldn't have been made in the first place, or wouldn't exist in thier current formats.

Love it or hate it, GTA 3 influnenced a great number of games.

No, what GTA has done is brought all these non gamers into the gaming world and then we have to deal with all of these games trying to beat gta in sales which is good for the gaming world. then we have to deal with Rockstar thinking that we will buy anything they throw out that has killing in it (manhunt). overall I get mad when mags say it is like gta this way and that way, but different in this way etc. what developers are doing is giving those non-gamers something like gta to attract them and on the other side they want to please us the real gamers.

GTA is garbage. It appeals to the lowest common denominator. Sex and violence sells, that's it. So many great games haven't sold this year which is a shame. I think it hurts the developers since they now know what sells and they can't be as free thinking or willing to take a risk. I'm sure that several good projects have been canned because publishers don't feel it will have GTA numbers. I do agree that Rockstar is puking out anything now.

IMO there are much better games than GTA 3 or VC. For instance The Getaway which plays like a movie and IMHO is a 90 percent times better than GTA. The only reason 10 percent is missing is the fact that in GTA you don't have to play or do the missions, you can just ride through the city. And trust me, i'm sure some other developer or publisher would have thought of doing an all 3d world (look at what they're doing with Half-Life 2, making it more into a world from my understanding from i believe PC Gamer Mag? oh well i know i read it somewhere). Just because they got to the whole 3d world thing first should not make them be considered the best or rated higher or compared to. there are many games that take the 3d world motife and make it much better.
