I figured I'd post this in the DVD Deals section since $12.88 for the WalMart exclusive 3 DVD edition is a pretty good deal. I don't think Speedy's list mentioned the 3rd DVD.

Anyways, most WalMarts have broken the street date and have been selling them for days.

they glass case your dvds at walmart?

Yeah, they do. I guess theft was pretty high, because about a year ago they installed cases for all the DVD's.

As much as I want this, I think I'll just Netflix it for now. It's a given all the Spiderman movies will hit blu-ray, and I hate to keep buying stuff on dvd that I know is going to br. I imagine we'll see a br trilogy set at the end of the year when the third film hits video.

I don't see what the hype over a few extra minutes to this is?

It's not just a few extra minues... there's like, an entire decimal point added to the title!!!!!!!1!!!!

You could have already triple dipped on this one and then some. So far between all the formats just for Spiderman 2 itself you could of bought it on:

- Regular 2 disc DVD
- Superbit 1 disc DVD
- Sony PSP
- Collectors Edition DVD Boxset

Then throw in the "slightly extended" 2.1 edition... whew, did I miss any other release?

If they included a movie ticket to watch Spiderman 3, I would gladly triple dip.

Yeah, seriously, where's the ticket? They dropped the ball on that one. That free ticket promotion has gotten me to buy tons of DVD's I wouldn't have bothered with otherwise.

I actually don't have this movie still (despite seeing it in theaters twice), but something tells me I can wait and if even someone like Sam Raimi can admit it's a cash in (after how many versions of Army of Darkness have been released?) then no big rush...

Unless there's an extra scene where Spider-man eats someone's face after his eyeball has been ripped out and eaten. You know, terrible in the comics but if Tobey McGuire did it, id definetly pay to see it...

Something worth mentioning about broken street dates, I've noticed that re-releases and boxsets containing movies that are already available are fair game and can be set out just about anytime Wal-Mart pleases. In the end, it's the same DVD from 2004 with a new cover, and some pointless scenes added that will never be worth it, probably the only way to sell a double dip like this would be to release it early and hope someone notices and buys it thinking they're so special because they have it early. All of my Wal-Marts have this out. It seems to be intentional.

I'm waiting for the Blu-ray versions too. They need to atleast announce a date for them.

I didn't care for this movie too much. $12.88 is too much for me. But that extra disc...nah still not worth it.

FYI: I noticed this week's Sears ad (5% chance it may have been a K-Mart ad) has Spider-Man 2.1 on sale for $9.99, with other movies listed also at $9.99 or 3/$18. It's possible you can get this with 2 other movies for $6 each.

I honestly can't see why we're complaining about a three DVD set that's $12.88. Are we really that much of cheap asses?

If there is a version out there with a free ticket, I'll buy it. As long as there are no restrictions on the ticket that is.

Kmart has the SM 2.1 DVD for $9.99 in the ad, in case you don't need the WM's exclusive 3rd disc.

It's kind of silly to have a whole separate DVD case for what amounts to an extra featurette (which is basically just a long commercial for the next movie). Oh well, what can ya do? Heh, they're gonna be THROWING that old 2-pack of Spiderman 1 and 2 at people now.
