Got this from dvdtalk and thought I'd pass it on.....this is good for DVD ho's like me.

CC has a good collection on 8.99 DVD's this week....these are listed on page 10 of the circular as being $6 off.

Link to circular here (http://circuitcity.shoplocal.com/circuitcity/Default.aspx?action=browsepagelarge&storeid=2397391&rapid=386449&pagenumber=10):

<< Edit: This link is to the CC is my location. Be sure to sure to pick the ad for your location or else you may get hassled>>

If you hover over the 8.99 DVD's you can see that it also says B1G1 free something the paper circular doesn't say.

Just print off the online version and take it to CC and attempt to get the B1G1 free.

I did it this morning and got:

Hero
O Brother Where Art Thou
Pulp Fiction
National Treasure
Kill Bill 1 and 2

for $30!!!!

The DVDs rang up for 8.99 each but pointing out the text of the online version to the clerk and then getting managers approval I finally got the B1G1 free.....Good luck caggers!

It's say right at the top in big letters - BOGO of equal or lesser value.

No. The B1G1 Free only applies to the first 2 rows of DVD's.....not the 8.99 DVD's.

Thanks for the reading lesson tho'.

Actually, no, it does say it for all of them. If you put your mouse over the 8.99 DVDs, it says 'buy 1, get 1 free of equal or lesser value'.

Thanks for posting this though I won't be able to hit up CC until Sunday. I really want to pick up a lot of those $8.99 DVDs (Pump Fiction, Gone in 60 Seconds, both Kill Bills, Hero, Batman Begins, O Brother Where Art Thou, and Clerks).

Man, I've been on a DVD spree lately...:)

Now we're getting somewhere. Can somebody PLEASE re-read my frakking original post? Online it does say buy 1 get 1 free. But the paper circular doesn't and if you go to the store they will charge you 8.99 for each DVD. 8.99. 8.99. 8.99.

The only way you can get 1 free is to point out that the web site says you can.

Jeez I'm trying here. :bomb:

I was planning on heading back to BestBuy today to return Open Season and Far Cry (hopefully they'll let me). I'll have to stop on over at CC with a printout now. Too many DVD sales lately...

If you click on the 8.99 section, it says BOGO, the OP is correct. Thank you OP!

Got shot down trying this during my lunch break. The manager said that the BOGO is only on the 14.99 and 9.99 DVDs. The CC near me even had signs up in the store clarifying this.

Should I take the DVDs I bought to another CC and see if they will honor the BOGO?

Pump Fiction?... is that the x-rated version of Pulp Fiction? ;)

Pump Friction is what he meant to say. I wouldn't recommend it unless you enjoy watching cows lactate to soft jazz guitar. And the acting, it's udderly horrible.

They didn't bite for me. I asked to speak to a manager. I wasn't really trying to cause problems, I just wanted to see if he would honor it since it said explicitly on the website that you get $6 off and BOGO. He said I was mistaken. He said that the $6 off was the BOGO. So I asked since when was half of $15 $9 instead of $7.50. Let's just say he didn't grasp the concept. All I really wanted to hear is "Whoops, we made a mistake." Or even, "the website got it all screwed up." But no, I get a, "You're mistaken." It's good to know you shop at a place where, "the customer is always wrong - and make sure you tell them that!!!"

I should have returned the things I had bought that I saw by looking around. (The girl wouldn't give me the "deal" so I bought some stuff I hadn't even come there for - you know how it is - and asked to speak to the manager. I should have returned that stuff though since I didn't even get what I had really wanted...)

Don't know how easy this is to check in other states, but CA law (AB1721, effective 1/1/05) "prohibits any person or store from charging an amount greater than the lowest price posted for a product, even if there is an expiration date posted for that product."

That comes from a news release dated 12/31/04 and posted on the CA Dept. of Consumer Affairs website. (If you can find similar, you might want to print it out and keep it with you.) So if anyone, at least in CA, tries to deny you the lowest advertised price, you have a legal basis for standing your ground.

Btw, for anyone printing out the page, make sure to change the address, the link is to one that states the current location as Williston, Vermont. They'll probably give you trouble if they see that and you're not in Williston, Vermont. Just a heads up, you have to print this if you want this deal, they will refuse any other way. They forced me to pull the ad up on a store computer along with the print-out, I got my DVDs thanks to those two things. Just print out the page and stand your ground, you can do it my CAGs! Thank you for posting this deal OP!

At my local CC, one bin had the $8.99 (save $6) DVDs and the other had the BOGO $9.99 and $14.99 DVDs. I mentioned to the cashier that the website had two of the $8.99 DVDs listed as BOGO and he adjusted them to $4.50 each. I picked up "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Who Framed Roger Rabbit."

The price B1G1 worked for me as well, with the online print out. Otherwise it was a no go.

A better printout would be here (http://circuitcity.shoplocal.com/circuitcity/Default.aspx?action=browsepagedetail&storeid=2397391&rapid=386449&pagenumber=10&listingid=-2093529673). It's a page with all movies with the words b1g1 very clear :D

Also, I believe I'll be printing this help page (http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/lookLearn.do?cat=-13318&edOid=105471&c=1http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/lookLearn.do?cat=-13318&edOid=105471&c=1), for this:
Q: Will Circuit City match its own prices?
A: Yes, if you purchase an item from us (in-store or on circuitcity.com) and we advertise the same item at a lower price within thirty days of your purchase, we will refund you 100% of the price difference. Bring the advertisement and your original sales receipt to your local Circuit City for the refund.

Q: Does Circuit City match the prices of Internet retailers?
A: Because many Internet retailers are not authorized sellers, we will only match the prices of our own website (circuitcity.com).

Good luck, I guess I'll be making the trek of 30-45 minutes to get an extra movie for the Roger Rabbit I bought.

Didn't work for me. $8.99 isn't BOGO ...........
The manager told me it was a mistake on the print and only $14.99 movie is BOGO

Here's the secret to the BOGO ad: you notice those two rows of titles that clearly state BOGO? They're regular price, but BOGO makes them half. The $8.99 titles are on sale AND BOGO. I have no idea why so many people are being shot down other than their Circuit City is run by a bunch of assholes. The worst part is, these titles, excluding Who Framed Roger Rabbitt? and Pulp Fiction which are two discs, are just plain old DVDs, a cheap amaray case and a DVD-9. Most are obsolete with newer versions or set to be. Why are they fighting so hard?

Are those other titles getting new editions? Gone in 60 and Enemy are both the Special Editions right?

Great Success! Headed down to CC to re-buy Roger Rabbit and get some other titles (since I had bought RR w/out knowing of the b1g1). They didn't have RR when I got there though! Employee had to look for like 5 minutes, and finally found some in the back! Whew!
So I picked up Gone in 60 Seconds, Roger Rabbit, Usual Suspects, and Enemy of the State. Girl at counter gave no fuss at all, worked great. Thanks OP!

I got blown off...I told the chick about it being on sale on line and she wouldn't look it up...I told her I'd go print out a copy of it and come right back and she said it wouldn't do any good...she wasn't a bitch about it or anything but it still bugs me even when it says on their help page that they can price match...idiot employees...

I would have at least tried. Too bad it's over now and you can't try it on someone new tomorrow :(

edit: just reread this and it seemed sorta meanspirited. Wasn't the intent. Sometimes you know trying won't help :P

yeah, i got the feeling when i went that i would have to be pushy about it - but could already tell that i would basically have to try and be a bigger a-hole than the manager on duty to get the bogo, so i didn't bother.

also my location was pretty thrashed. i got the last copies of the movies i wanted.
