RedOctane's president has stated that the Wii version of GHIII will use a guitar peripheral (as opposed to just using the remote in some way), and will feature online play and downloadable music.

At the least, it will be interesting to see how Nintendo handles downloadable game content if they haven't had any opportunities before the fall.

When will they release the song list?

Well judging from VC pricing and the current pricing of GHII DLC on Xbox Live it's gonna be cheap cheap cheap.:)

Awesome! With the Wii as my only next-gen console I was hoping GHIII would come out for it.
Here's hoping the guitar doesn't suck!

Hopefully. That would really help it.
Any word on if the controllers are going to be wireless or plug into the GC slots? Or both?
I would like to see them do something new and creative with this. Shredding the guitar is awesome and all, but I think if they added some other feature in to give it more depth considering it is the third installment, it would be better. I don't know what that would be though.

word is all gh controllers will now be wireless and online will be supported...which should hold true for the wii as well (don't kno if it will)
hmm more depth...i think if they added some type of acheivement for the wii that would be perfect in itself

If they're going to be wireless, then the guitar could just be a shell that the wiimote slips into.
Damn it, I'm not used to having a system with all the new hotness being released on it. I don't have enough money for all this.

If I could use my PS2 GH guitars (PS2 to GC/Xbox convertor), I'd consider getting the Wii version. Otherwise, I'll stick to the PS2 versions that I've already invested in.

I still wouldn't as they'll only sell the Wii version in the bundle with the Guitar, and I already have 2 guitars for the PS2. So no point in paying $80-90 for any other systems version when I can get it game only on the PS2 for $40-50.

Me too. I might sell my PS2 versions, but I want to hear more about song lists first.

They should make it so you have to walk around with your guitar, you would get stage presence points, and the motion sensing would track that, just a thought. When i play a gig i dont just stand in one spot.

i'm wondering if they'll get the usb ports working in full in time for the launch of these new games with downloadable content. it'd be nice to be able to use a portable hdd and download the songs to that to save space on the wii.

Here's the Wii Guitar Controller:

Looks like you plug in the remote in the front and I'd guess that the analog stick shows that the guitar itself is basically the nunchuck. I hasve to say that I prefer the Rock Band controller much more over these plain white guitars, I may stick with the PS2 GHIII because of the non-sterilized, Kramer guitar controller.

Looks cool... but I'm still wondering how much all of this will cost. I already have a guitar for the PS2 version so that would save me some money not having to buy another guitar so I'll probably end up buying the game on the PS2.

I'd bet that it'll be about $80 for the Wii and PS2 versions, like the PS2 version of GHII was, while the PS3 and 360 will be at $90.

I could go either way between PS2 and Wii. Since I already have 2 PS2 guitars, its the more attractive idea to just get more songs. If the Wii version has a lot more features, and it seems like it might, then an extra $30 won't hurt that bad. Its just I probably won't spring for an extra controller with the upcoming Rock Band.

Oh man... I didn't think about the DLC. This makes my choice pretty impossible.:-k Sounds like I'll be getting the Wii version if possible. I guess the Wii version also comes with the benefit of wireless guitar controllers (not paying $10 more for the 360 version).

I know, that's why the white guitar is disappointing. It seems to be made to be so plain so you want to buy a faceplate for the guitar.

I'm guessing he means due to the fact the Wii doesn't have a hard drive it will be less likely to get the downloadable content in the future that the PS3 and 360 versions will get. But of course the PS2 version won't have it either.
Other than that, I see no reason not to buy this version if you don't already have either or both of the previous games and controllers on another system.
As I said months ago, I'll be getting the PS2 version for just that reason. Already have 2 guitars and can just pick up the game only version for $40-50.

Yeah, I don't really plan on buying song packs if that's how they will continue to use DLC with the game, so if they're not offered on the Wii, I'll survive.
I'd actually prefer expansion discs like the PS2 gets.

That's correct, I say 360 and PS3 over the Wii edition for 1. Hard drive 2. Dolby Digital 5.1 Sound (this is very important) 3. Graphics.
Plus if you have the 360 one, you already have the guitars.
And hopefully they'll let you use the PS2 guitars via USB on the PS3.
Wii is next best.
The PS2 version would be the last version to get.

But if so, then yeah, it wouldn't matter then.
Other two points still apply.
If you want to rock out, it works best with surround.
I can't I used to play Amplitude on TV speakers :(

Dolby Digital 5.1 what us audiophiles have to settle for.
It's bottom of the barrel really. (well, I guess Pro Logic II is worse)
I pray that it will use an uncompressed PCM 5.1 soundtrack on PS3.
