I tried it a little and it seems to be a "virtual life" style game, much like the Sims.
Just trying to figure out the appeal of the game, as I found it pretty boring so far (thought the same about the Sims 2). and i can only play games in the evening, so when i go to the town everyone is asleep

it's kinda like the sims... yes, both are "virtual life" games, but the focus is different.
animal crossing is more task based... do things at times on certain days, do favors for friends, collect these items, etc.
the sims is more stats based... do whatever you want, so long as you get to the bathroom before your character pisses on the floor, get to the bed before your charcter sleeps on the floor, get to the fridge before your character starts bitching, etc.
i find games like the sims annoying as hell because the stat-based style leaves you limited... you can only do so much 'fun' stuff before worrying about one of your stats. animal crossing, however, lets you choose tasks from a long list of stuff, and removes the pressure of a time limit created by your stats.
but ultimately, neither game has a traditional "point"

Animal Crossing is a love it or hate it game, it's ok if you hate it. :)

that's the most reasonable post i've ever seen from you i'll have to second that, his posts are usually peppered with extreme prejudice for whatever it is he doesn't like

I wouldn't really say it's like the Sims actually...personally I find the Sims extremely boring and after I play about an hour of it it's boring. Animal Crossing was really good when I used to play it...so just cause you like one doesn't mean you'll like the other so ya know ;)

Add another to the ignore list.i'm honored, although it seems you don't carry through since you've already said that in the past.

I had similar trouble with this game as I too could only play at night. The solution is to set the system clock forward/back so that you are playing during the day. Hopefully this will allow you to have more fun with it as it is a great game.
