View Full Version : trouble with USB drive and photos

I put some photos on my usb drive, and popped it in my PS3, which told me there were no photos on it. They were jpegs right off my camera, which I am assuming outputs pretty standard jpegs, as I have never had a problem before. (Camera is an Olympus.)

I read the sony docs, and they don't mention anything other than you can view photos off of a usb drive, or copy them to the PS3. Pretty shitty docs IMHO.

I then read some 3rd party stuff on net, saying that I needed to put them in a folder called PHOTO. So I did that, but still no luck.

It is a Lexar Jump Drive. It has a green LED on it which lights up when it is mounted. When I plug it into the PS3 it flashes green, and then goes off... I am not sure if this matters or not.

I wish there was a way to know if there is a problem reading the USB drive, or if there is something it doesn't like about the directory structure, or file format....

Anyone else had this trouble?

Thanks,
~S

Go to the USB device in the Photo menu, hit Triangle, and choose "View All".

Yeh it has to do with the folder system. The PS3 won't search the whole drive, it will just look for a folder called Photo from the root. If the pictures(or even music/videos) are stored somewhere else you have to "view all" like was said and dig through the folders to find them.

Here is the online manual which might help you in the future. (http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/index.html)
