When the Elite comes, isn't the Premium supposed to drop to $300?

Supposedly, their standard business practice is that taxes are not included prior to placing the order :|

Shipping is free and you can get a wireless controller after coupon for about 32 bucks.

Sucks, but in general if a store has a presence in your state you are going to be charged tax - should be expecting it.

If you go to Techdepot, according to a Google search, you can get 30 dollars off. Can anyone get this to combine with 15% off?

hmmm... i just ordered a premium from dell.com yesterday w/ gears...
totalled $432
maybe i should cancel and do this instead...
ah. it just shipped... no big deal, since i'm getting a new copy of gears w/ the dell order, i only would have saved like 20 or 25 bucks doing it this way.

The total at 360 was the ironic price i was guessing for...
a 360 for (almost) exactly 360 bucks...
Anyway, I'm waiting for the elite.

Anybody that thinks the other Xbox packages will drop in price when the Elite comes out at $480 is brain dead...

I'm waiting for the 65nm chips. I heard mid-2007. Does anyone have a more precise date? I couldn't find one.

What's so great about it that it makes you want to wait for it? I'm planning on buying a 360 whenever I can get the money so I'm curious.

There's an assumption that the new chips will reduce the risk of hardware failure due to overheating (as they will undoubtedly run cooler)

Damnit, I wasn't planning on getting a 360 . . . but today I saw Game Informer's feature on GTA IV.
I need to get a 360 or PS3 by October

I was hoping they had PS2 systems so I could use the 15% off coupon on that but it appears they don't carry PS2 systems or PS2 games, which I think is strange considering how popular the PS2 still is

Latest is that these have been pushed to "Fall", whatever that means. I've decided that I'm just going to get the Elite and not wait for the new chipset. Don't forget that the fundamental reason for going to 65nm chips is to reduce Microsoft's cost to produce the systems, not to improve anything for the end user. (Smaller chips = less silicon = cheaper). There might be benefits to it (less power, cooler, perhaps less noisy fans as a result), but it is hard to say now.
Originally people were excited for the 65nm because they thought it would mean a cheaper price tag for the system. But I think that is all up to Sony, independent of whichever version of the 360 is current. Ie, if Sony drops the PS3 price, MS and Nintendo follow, and if they don't, they keep pricing where it is through next Christmas at least.
schultzed - If you are willing to wait till October you might just benefit from the newer chipset AND a price drop (assuming Sony gets desperate). I have games I want to play now, so I'm more inclined to buy now and not worry about it (except for waiting for my 360 to fail on me ).

I just bought this deal, I had been waiting on an Elite but decided to pull the trigger on this one due to a couple reasons. #1 my HD is a bit older and is component 1080i only, and #2 you get a bunch more free stuff with this deal. I ordered and can verify all this stuff is included.
(got off Gizmodo)
Use coupon code 038065207 for a free Bluetooth wireless headset, 027283925 for a free Hi-Fi CD stereo radio, 099288885 for a retro cold/warm mini refrigerator and 079176844 for a Padfolio with accessories.
All these coupons stack with the 15% off.

It says that this coupon excludes "TECHNOLOGY", so I imagine this console fits into that category. So why was this posted?

What? Wow, that is a lot of free crap. I especially like the Bluetooth headset. How's the quality of this stuff?

Well I haven't received it yet so I assume it could be cancelled, but everything went through and my order is being processed.
As to the "technology" question I guess Office Depot doesn't consider it technology.
Unless they come back and cancel this on me I can tell you this a completely legit order and deal. If they do ill just buy an Elite in 2 weeks...

Yeah, I'm hoping for a slightly safer system. I can't believe how long I've waited-- and still will. These new chips were supposed to be out a while ago-- it's ridiculous it's taking Microsoft so long to start saving money. You'd think that'd be a bigger priority than it is now-- although I'm sure lies in whomever makes these chips for them.

Only if they ignore their own stated limitations to the coupons. I'm not looking to try to rip them off either. I'm not that greedy where 30 dollars is that big of a deal to me.

I think this technology exclusion wasn't there yesterday, which means the deal is now dead as far as the xbox 360 goes. I got the same message on the coupon.

Well, it worked for me earlier today. I have scheduled delivery day of 4/27 on the 360 and 4/23 (Monday) for the extra junk.
I can verify that the codes no longer work (15% anyway), but I believe the deal has been completed for those that did it earlier today (like me). Without the 15% I wouldnt have done it even if I still got the extras.
