Usually I just stick to the DVD and Game deal threads, but something semi-non deal related came up. While looking through the Gamestop website I finally found a date with it along with a few "bonuses."
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=281719
Now I'm just curious if all retailers are going to carry the Persona 3 with goodies like Ar Tonelico or Magna Carta, or is it going to be a Gamestop preorder bonus (or possibly even two different SKU's since a "limited edition" and normal edition)? I already preordered it at Gamecrazy so now I'm wondering if I need to cancel it or not.

It's not going to be a gamestop exclusive.
It is unclear at this time if the artbook and soundtrack are inside (in which case every retailer will have it), or if it will be items in addition to, where for whatever reasons, at some retailers these items will not make it from atlus to you.

It should be GOOD game & I'll wait till it drop down $30.

According to Gamestop it says the artbook and soundtrack is packed with the game. So I'm hoping it isn't if that's what it indicates, thanks for the small bit of reassurance though.
Thanks for the heads up about the preorder bonus I'll proably get this off of atlus's store or whatever.

I haven't been keeping up...have they said if the US release will include the extra content from Persona 3 FES or not? The US release of SMT Nocturne was based off the Japanese "Nocturne Maniacs" director's cut version of the game, so I'm hoping that they'll repeat that trend for Persona 3.

Seems like the FES stuff is not in the U.S. version.

Where are you getting that? If it's called Persona 3: Special Edition, I'd think that means it includes the Fes shit just like how SMT Nocturne Director's Cut had the stuff from the Lucifer's Call (God, that subtitle is so much more satanic than anything in the game) edition of the game. And based on past precedents like SMT Nocturne, I can't imagine this not having the Fes content.

I have heard that they will NOT be including it. There is no direct confirmation, but that's what all the speculation is to meet the July release date.

No "solid" source, but I've heard it from someone who generally seems to have insider Atlus information.
Regarding SMT3, Lucifer's Call was just the subtitle added for the European release. Maniacs is the original Japanese re-release that had the additional content that you're probably thinking of.

Ah, that's it. I forgot exactly what the Japanese title was.
But either way, it sounds like you have a better source of info than I do (my ass was my source.)

Im hoping it does come with the additional content being the game has been delayed numerous of times. Since the original release date was what? February of this year then it was another few months and hopefully July will be the solid month and the added tagline of "Special Edition" means shit simply because the soundtrack and artbook are enough to classify it as "special." Same kinda tactic as Magna Carta being released in the US by Atlus as "Deluxe Edition" despite it being only one sku (unless im blind and could only see Deluxe Edition's all around me).
Hopefully I'm wrong though.

Overview
In Persona 3, you’ll assume the role of a high school student, orphaned as a young boy, who’s recently transferred to Gekkoukan
High School on Port Island. Shortly after his arrival, he is attacked by creatures of the night known as Shadows. The assault
awakens his Persona, Orpheus, from the depths of his subconscious, enabling him to defeat the terrifying foes. He soon discovers
that he shares this special ability with other students at his new school. From them, he learns of the Dark Hour, a hidden time that
exists between one day and the next, swarming with Shadows. These monsters have been steadily claiming victims aptly
nicknamed “The Lost”—people who’ve inexplicably become mindless zombies. Under the supervision of school chairman Shuji
Ikutsuki, he joins his new companions in confronting this threat to humanity…
With your school as the primary battlefield, you’ll be forced to juggle between two lives: student by day, defender against evil by

I am absolutely getting the Deluxe version simply so I can get that Meguro soundtrack. That guy is a phenomenal composer.

I got to say, that press release sounds awesome and all. Though I could've gone with the willful ignorance of never knowing or acknowledging the director's cut version existing. That or especially knowing the japanese got it and we don't (or do we?).

I'm not sure that I understand what in God's name you're saying, but Japan got something we definitely didn't. It's in the import guide in my sig. The Konamistyle release of Persona 3... had a manpurse (the Japanese guys love those) and probably some tampons (Japanese guys collect those.)
dont think of FES as director's cut, it is an expansion pack that add 30-40 hours of gameplay. Although some changes are made to the main game. Atlus could still release it depending on Persona 3's sale.

I still haven't played Persona 1 and 2. Hell, I still need to buy them. :x Can anyone here comment on the quality of the first two games? I want to start from the beginning.

you should skip Persona 1. It is not that good and has one of Atlus worst localization. Persona 2 is gret.

...You know, suddenly I dont feel so bad after looking at that. Eitherway, I pray/hope Atlus does release the FES one too.

Persona 1 isn't bad though I personally prefered the second one more (that and I got it with the soundtrack and strategy guide for $20 so all close to my heart). Good luck finding them though (especially Persona 1), Atlus PS1 RPG's are a bitch to find for a reasonable price these days.

Persona 1 I could not get all the way through due to difficulty and general confusion, the voice acting was good for a laugh though.
All man, i need to pre-order this
