Alright, this is a long one. I started on Sunday with 76 bucks on my Edge card. I picked up at GS

Super Paper Mario Wii,
God of War 2 PS2 and
Prince of Persia Rival Swords Wii.

At a different EB I traded SPM and GOW for 36 and 32.40 in that order. At the same store I picked up another

Prince of Persia Rival Swords,
Medal of Honor Vanguard and
Warioware Smooth Moves.

I sold the Medal of Honor for 30 bucks and returned the Warioware and the extra Prince of Persia for 40.49 each at a different store (lucked out on that one seriously)

Long story short I flipped back and forth and ended up with SSX Blur, Prince of Persia Rival Swords, Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz, Tony Hawks Downhill Jam and Spiderman 3 for Wii full paid for only having to spend 20 dollars cash.

No. I mean, yes that's what a couple people have done, but that's just taking advantage of an ignorant clerk. That's not Gamestop policy, they require the free game to be returned if you no longer meet the terms of the promotion after a return.

I bought three games for the Xbox B2G1 sale, and returned two of them yesterday (Mech Assault 2 has a glitch in the emulation that won't allow you to continue past a certain mission). SSX Tricky was my free game and that was the other return (grabbed the wrong SSX, not 360 BC), and I got pull price credit from both games, even though SSX was my free game.

I didn't even pay attention till I got home. Wasn't sure if this was normal or not, but I got Panzer Dragoon Orta for $4 I guess.

It doesn't seem like there would be a huge problem with it - 1 return/rebuy and 1 new transaction (I did it once during the Xbox B2G1), but was wondering if anyone else got rejected.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't 'scewing' people over what Gamestop does? You will buy a 50 dollar game on release day and the next day offer you 25 dollars for it so they can make 80% profit on it. I'm no Rage Against The Gamestop or anything but if they had said “Sorry no dice” I would be fine with it. Even without returns I could have made out incredibly from this deal. I even said that I lucked out that I was able to return a few times.

I do pretty much all my buying and trading there, I preorder something every month and pay cash 70% of the time. If trade in values suck I trade elsewhere, and when asked to preorder I say no if there is nothing I want. Its not a big deal.

Yeah, last I checked...this was a free enterprise economy. They do what they gotta do, and we do what we gotta do. I think both parties operate under the guilt-free belief that "If you can get away with it, more power to ya!" Besides, I don't see anybody going around reprimanding EBstop for the way they do business.

As for those bitching about low trade-in prices, the ones who do that have apparently never heard of Ebay, Goozex, or CAG Trading...or any other forum for getting a more realistic face value for your items, for that matter. The bottom line in any of this is, if you don't like it, take your business elsewhere. And that goes for Gamestop as well.

With my edge and the %10 off coupon i somehow got it down to $40 after tax (i am pretty sure the employee had to use the manual override and i got some extra discount in there by his mistake probablly.) All three games have their cases and whatnot in great condition but shadow hearts has it's disc a bit scrached up which has me worried. I could not find Lego Star Wars II used so i grabbed GRAW instead. I feel like a jackass posting before that we shouldnt try be scamming gamestop but i did it without really trying.

PS: I found RES for $40 without a maual, anyone think this is a good price or can i find it cheaper on the net?

Having said that, after I struck out in my attempt to use my Extra 10% off coupon yesterday, I decided to go a different store today (where having a bug up your ass isn't required to be employed. The guys at this store are good people). I picked up Forza, Manhunt, and Finding Nemo (the wife wanted it...she thought it would be cute). The guy here tried my coupon, but the computer wouldn't take it, so that was fine. I really appreciated him at least scanning it to check.

We go home. The wife decides Nemo isn't near as cute in videogame form (plus the game's not BC...lame), so we head back to Gamestop to exchange it. She picks up Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis (freakin $29.99 used! stupid ass rare game...). This time, I think "hmmm...if this is an independent transaction, the coupon should work." The guy gives it a try, and bam! $6 off.

Moral of the story: if you exchange your most expensive game for something else, you can use the coupon, causing you to only lose the extra 10% off on your other game. Not a bad deal. Ended up with Jurassic Park, Manhunt, and Forza (all Xbox) for $33.28.

No, I agree with that completely. I've always said we live in a screw or be screwed society. I was honestly just amazed at how elaborate your plan was. Even what I was able to pull off today just to get my Extra 10% coupon to work required 2 trips to the same store, 10 minutes away...but I live in a small crap town that only has the one Gamestop (and I've already expressed my disdain for them). If it was no extra trouble and on the way to your normal activities, then congrats! Again, I was just in awe of the process. I would swap out Steambot, Atelier Iris 2, & Tales of Legendia for Xenosaga 1-3 instead. IF you're getting the games to play them, rather than sell/trade them. And if you enjoy great stories.

How's the condition of the games people have been buying at GS?

As I stated in my post earlier, all the games I bought were in okay condition (you can tell it was used and not treated the best) with a bunch of little scuffs, but ALL of them had this horizontal mark running through them. It annoyed me, so I returned them. I really wish they were in better condition because they were all titles I wanted.

I took a gamble because the last few times I bought some older used titles, they were in near mint condition. And, I feel weird if I bring a bunch of titles up to the counter, look at the disc and then decline buying them. It's wasting the employee's time rummaging especially if the store is busy, like during the B2F1 sale.

For the most part, I've found them to be in pretty good condition, some light scratches, but some mint too. What I see, and what annoys me, is mostly in the the cases though, most of them have scuff marks or booklets with tears.

The condition always depends. I've gotten games that look like they were never played, and also some that look like someone decided to polish a car with them. Recently though, I've noticed that 9/10 of their games have stickers placed on the cover art itself, and not just on the case.

If you want to check the condition of the game, Nero CD-DVD speed seems to be able to identify if part of a PS2 disc is bad (don't know about XBX or GCN games, as my drive doesn't read them correctly). It has helped me to identify and fix one disc so far, and has given me peace of mind on several others.

Condition seems to vary a lot.

I've picked up some pristine near-mint games, but I've also seen some pretty chewed up boxes and scratched up discs with visible chunks of random contamination fused to the discs.
Most of the stuff is in fair condition: Scuffed up boxes and lightly scratched discs. Strangely, I've found that the manuals are usually in good shape... ppl probably ignore them.

In a B2G1 sale, it's sometimes hard to find 3 very good condition games that I want in one store... so I sometimes have to compromise. But I still check each disc for scratches and refuse it if it is too bad... no doubt endearing myself to the staff ;).

All of my games were in really good condition. I purchased five.
Why five? I picked up GRAW 2, Lost Planet, and Armored Core 4 for Xbox 360. However, when I got home, I realized they put GRAW 1 in the case for GRAW 2. I was mad I didn't check before I left. When I went back to get the correct disc, they told me they didn't have it. They were kind enough to give me a full refund for the game. So I payed for Lost Planet and got Armored Core 4 for free, a much better deal.

If you're buying nintendo games, you can go to the online nintendo store and buy cases for the DS, gamecube and wii.

If the games come without the art cover, you can go to http://www.thecoverproject.net/index.php and they have cover art for all systems.

What's good about the nintendo games is that if you buy a game made from Nintendo, you can order the instruction booklet for $2 each.

Everytime I buy used gamecube games, I always switch out the case cuz the one it comes with is always worn out and has the stickers on them.

I got RE2, RE3, and Zelda: the collector's disc and 10% off with gamer's card for $82.79. RE2 & RE3 came with everything so I just switched it with a new case and zelda came with just the game disc and a generic gamestop case. Already replaced the case and printed the cover. Just need to order the instruction booklet.

It takes a bit of work, but at least your game cases won't look like crap.

Also, if you need to check store availability, search "360 hd" and click on show backorder items at the bottom of the search results page. The best part was that EVERY game had a manual and was in great condition, EXCEPT Kingdom Hearts, which had a myriad of flaws. I initially picked up the copy with no manual and after leaving went back to get one. The manual I got is all bent and looks like crap, and the disc is pretty scuffed up too. AND it had the spine sticker ON the cover-art, which ripped when I removed it. All the games had this stuck to the cover-art, but only KH ripped :bomb: But I'm heading to another GS tonight and I'll see if I can't exchange it for a nicer copy.

Only regrets are not finding God of War or Kingdom Hearts 2. If I find those at the other GS I may have to pick up a third game with them....

So now, some questions: I have heard good things about the Shadowhearts games, and I know they're rare, but worth buying? We pretty much just needed a $30 game to put with the Resident Evils. Thought about Silent Hill 3, but that seems less rare.

Also, I saw Gears of War LE at my Gamestop and almost picked it up even though I lack a 360... maybe if there are some Wii games there too I'll bite. But I don't think saw ANYTHING as expensive as that that I wanted.

Perhaps it's random for whatever reason - possibly a remaining glitch of the EB/GS merger. In past such sales, the computer automatically assorted the games from highest price to lowest and simply charged nothing for every third game.

I was told you need to have all three games because they return all three, then ring them up again with the one you want.

I bought SSX Blur, Sonic, and Need for Speed Carbon (all Wii) at one store, went across the street to another one and returned NFS Carbon for Godfather.

It's a pain in the ass but it works.

I did it today with no problem. I didn't need to bring in all 3 games either. Although I don't know if you may have a different experience with exchanging your free game. As long as there's a price on the receipt it shouldn't be a problem. I even exchanged it for a cheaper game and they gave me the difference in credit.
If i'm not mistaken, some people have been able to do the B2G1 and then turn around and return one of the games making it B1G1 effectively.

Alright, second haul already. Decided to check out my local store onece more (which had nothing that I saw first time I went in). I went for some cheap $6 xbox games and left spending another $37 :???:

Yeah, the DMC trilogy pack had the SE without the red greatest hits bar. But it should be the same as the GH as far as I know.

When it went GH, they added features to it. The best of which is when you die, you can continue at the last checkpoint. In the original, you have to start the whole level over again unless you have a certain orb. You'll die a lot in this game, so it's a great feature. And yes, when they released the 3 pack, they didn't include that red bar.

Well, I suppose I'll contribute. I have basically around 15 or so EB/GS' within a 20 mile radius of myself so I can usually find a ton at these sales. I went to four of them on Monday and got the following -

So, with the two free titles, my card, and the coupon for an extra 10% off in GI I got those titles for $77. So, in total I bought what would usually be $153 of games for $96. Pretty good haul and effectively knocks out my collections for my last gen systems barring a few titles here and there.

edit: Come to think of it, that $153 with sales tax of 6% actually would have amounted to closer to $162, while my final amount is with tax, so I made out even better.

Yeah I would play Metal Slug quickly and exchange it out. I was tired of playing it within a couple days.

Yes, 2gb sd cards can be bought for much cheaper. If you check places like buy.com or ecost.com or newegg.com you should be able to find one for $10 or less (usually after rebate...but if you can follow instructions, you shouldn't have trouble getting your rebate).

Also, I don't think it's really fair to call them "3rd party" considering this is an item that is used for many purposes other the Wii. Computers, cameras, cell phones, mp3 players, etc. There are many quality brands available.

If you plan on hitting multiple stores and have the same issue of non matching (price) games at each store, just bring the bag into the 2nd, 3rd, etc. store - ON YOUR ORIGINAL TRIP - and have the receipt adjusted from the previous store.
I've never had an issue and it takes maybe 2-3 minutes extra....
The maximum savings will be 3 games at the same price with Edge and 10% coupon...

Rez was ultra rare but then GQD reprinted it and sold it for $40 or something. When something isn't rare anymore, eBay prices drop fast. Gamestop probably won't drop the price since they probably bought it from GQD and they don't want to lose money.

Alright, a third haul! (And I thought you guys were spending too much!)

I went to a Software Etc to see about exchanging my KH I bought a couple days ago because it was GH, the disc was scratched and the cover art tore (when I removed the spine label), and the book was pretty beart up. I brought Devil May Cry to see about swapping for a non-GH, just in case (although I figured that game is so old the chances were pretty slim).

I scoped DMC out first, looking for the boxes on the shelves while my g/f took the games with her to other stores in the mall. I amazingly found a near-perfect non-gh Devil May Cry and set it aside. Only problem is the back cover is slightly damaged near the top, which I didn't notice before buying, but I like that it's not GH so I'm good.

I next found KH, but it was missing the book, so I simply kept my old one and exchanged both games. Guy was super nice about it to; I brought receipt and games in and without even glancing at the receipt he simply switched the games out (I guess since they probably aren't defective there is no reason to do a physical inventory exchange, but I didn't expect it since so many people had trouble and had to exchange all three for some reason).

I then proceeded to look for some new games to buy :D
All non-GH, books included, nearly perfect:

I used my extra 10% off one and got the deal just fine but I'll admit the guys that work the various EBs around me tend to be really cool about stacking deals (like last September during that extra $10 for 3 games deal they let me use my card plus reserve bonuses plus coupons from GI all at the same time, thereby getting me more trade-in on most titles than they even cost in store).

If they say anything simply point out that the ad in the magazine states specifically that it's a bonus on top of your subscriber's bonus, which is the 10% extra from your card. If they say still say no report them to management. There's no reason for an employee of any store to be that ignorant/lazy.

Just a damn shame that no EB/GS within 30 miles of me have anything worthwhile in the PS1/N64 department otherwise I'd spending a ton on those titles.

I have an older car that I don't owe on and I prepay my car insurance 6 months in advance. I usually put away about 800 dollars a month in savings, but since this sale hit I went a bit nuts.
I'm 20, and I don't have any debt or much responsibility at this stage in my life. Might as well have fun.

I haven't played it yet, and I never did play Neo, but yea, everything I read said that EXA is basacially the same exact thing just better in certain regards.

Tales of the Abyss and Rogue Galaxy, well, they are the only two RPG's I've been wanting to check out for awhile, since I got Disgaea 2 at CC for $16.96.

I figure I paid $21.XX per game, so I didn't too bad... Rogue Galaxy will probably only go as low as $20, and I didn't feel like waiting on Abyss and EXA to price drop (considering I can only find them at EB / GS).

I didn't do too bad at this sale, stocked up on games for the next two months at least.

He also said that if you are going to do a return, you have to bring all three games in and then they can re-sell you the games. I know this had been reported before but I wasn't aware it was some weird policy. What this means is that if you bought a game Saturday, you don't really have seven days to return it - you have ONE. So if you have any to return, tomorrow's the day.

While I would rather pay a dollar less for a new copy, I suppose this isn't worth the hassle since I won't be getting to CC until well after GS closes, I don't know what to trade for that's $19.99 (any ideas?), and I don't even know that my CC has this.

But yeah, return by tomorrow. Seems like it should be illegal to REQUIRE someone to return everything and rebuy if you're just doing a straight exchange. I can understand for a refund since then a person might end up with B1G1, but an exchange makes no sense to do this to. It essentially limits the 7 day return policy to Day Game Bought through Sunday.

Something kinda like this happened to me today, basically I wanted to return just one game, Phantasy Star Universe (360) cause I beat the single player and didn't really want to keep it as it wasn't complete and I figure I'll be able to get a complete copy of it later down the line for almost nothing if I really want to.

So I brought in just the one game and got another $30 game, Hitman Blood Money (360), that I wanted to exchange it with took them both up and said I wanted to do an exchange... but it turns out that the price on a used copy of Phantasy Star Universe (360) dropped from $29.99 to $24.99 between when I bought it and now so basically what he did was credit me $24.99 and made me pay the $5 difference and since I didn't have the two other games with me to redo the B2G1 there wasn't really anything I could do.

Didn't really bother me too much though since I basically got to beat and return a game to get another one for just $5 and I really didn't feel like wasting time and gas to make another trip to EBGames.

This has happened to me twice on two seperate occasions now.

The first was when I got three games at one GS, went across the street to exchange one for a game I wanted, and they had to return all three, and resell all three to me as part of the package.

Then, they had to do this again yesterday when they forgot my edge discount (I guess this is normal though?)

Why is Halo 2 still so damn expensive though? Did the price go up since they released new maps for it or has it just stayed 30 bucks new all this time? I sold my copy along with my xbox a long time ago . . . but I never played it online so I thought I'd revisit it. Maybe the market isn't as saturated with used copies as I assume? I think I'll just go for the plenty of xbox games that are 10-15 bucks used for now.
