So their big grand opening sale is that they are selling Wiis and PS3s at retail price? Since this is a one day sale, what will the price of these consoles be tomorrow?

At least their PS3 is in a bundle with five blu ray movies

Fry's is usually pretty good about selling systems in a bundle

They had a TON of Wii's this morning, I was there at opening. Also I posted this in the other Fry's thread but there were a hell of a lot of harder to find games for all systems. I picked up Gradius V and Slient Hill 4 for $10 each, Pitfall for PS2 for $5 and Monster Hunter PS2 for $15. TONS more, many of which I have never seen on shelves or hadn't seen in ages.

It's on Sunrise between Douglas and Eureka. If you take I-80 you can't miss it right off the freeway, the building is huge.

What exit is it? Is it far from Davis? i am going to Davis this afternoon from Oakland and might want to stop by.

Eureka's probably the easiest...get off there and take a right on Sunrise. You'll see it off the freeway.

WOW cool to see the older games down at fry's. Some stuff was higher priced like altelier iris 1 for 50 and GC resident evil 2 for 35, but you dont see that crap in stores anymore. I was lucky enough to grab the last two copies of GRADIUS V and Monster Hunter for the PS2. Been waiting awhile to find a copy of Gradius V, I hear this game is the best in the series. They also had a lot of imort stuff on every system if your into that sort of thing. And I topped it off with a free wii controller key chain that lights up.

Also picked up
Munchs Oddysee - 5
Clock Tower 3 - 5
Return To Arms - 30

I am keeping one each but the extras are up for trade. Looking for Dark Alliance 2 on XBOX/PS2 or something else to catch my eye.

I think I might have seen those guys too. They were talking to some Fry's employee asking him which rare games they had and each had a handful of games. Bastids.

Well I've never seen Monster Hunter on shelves before this morning. It's out of print so I would guess it's not too common to find new copies...esp. for $14.99. I went back down there around 1PM and picked up:

Oddworld: Munch's Odyssey $5
Clock Tower 3 $6

Sounds like it's good I found my copy of Gradius V when I did. Not sure if I'll keep or trade it though. I do know it's hard as all heck to find though...can't beat $10.

BTW- The Nintendo rep there told me they had 260 Wii's in stock today. :-o

I'm sorry you weren't able to get a copy. I went to frys twice and on the first trip, at opening, there were about 8 copies of gradius. When I came back a little before noon there were two copies left. I wanted one and was going to trade the other. So if you want to pm me a trade list maybe we could work something out. It looks like there was another copy i must have over looked because I left by noon and buurrnn looks to have scored a copy at 12:30. I wonder if there was a end cap ?

I also talked with an employee I knew and he said that they had a lot of other really older rare games. Like a few copies each of Nocturne, Devil saga, firefighter fd, rez, ikarugu and some other really cool stuff but were all picked up by some ebay scalper. Some of the stuff was full retail while others he said were lower. I guess the store had a "soft" opening four days ago, but the official, and all the crazy sale stuff (wii's, plasmas) was today. Sounds like it was a gamers heaven.

As always I fail, I was a few minutes late for getting the 50 inch Panasonic for $1299. That would be half the money I even have, but it would have been so worth it. They had these TV's up until 7:00, yet I managed to get there right after they sold that last one, all my fault for not getting out there earlier, but I was trying to find someone with a car to fit that sexy beast. BTW this should probably be in regional deals.

Yea i grabbed the last Gradius. It was in some random ps2 area. Did you guys see the used nes games ? strange.. what pissed me off was when I saw a shady frys employee grab a hidden wii for him self and ran to the back.

Just got back from the new Fry's. Boy is that place a madhouse!

I only browsed the PC game section and was unimpressed: roughly 2.5 isles of games, most of which are cheaper online. They have 10+ copies of Supreme Commander for $34.99. They also have one copy of Unreal Anthology for $19.99, which is the cheapest you can find online (but Amazon is still cheaper because there's no sales tax; bundle your order and get free shipping).

The Sac Fry's has, what, 6+ sprawling isles for PC games.

Anyway, I'd rather drive all the way to Northgate and shop at the "old" Fry's. The store is bigger and has a better selection, IMHO. Plus it doesn't cater to the Roseville/Granite Bay yuppie crowd

FWIW, I've re-integrated the SAC ads into the regular Fry's thread.

But the page I have is a different one from lawdood's ad.

Yeah you have the ad from the back of the entertainment section from today's paper. There was another full ad like the Friday one included in yesterday and today's paper as well. Fry's really went all out for this grand opening.

Thx for all your hard work in bringing us the Fry's ads every week!

Picked up a copy of GoW II today for $34.99. Looks like they had at least a dozen copies left on the main shelf, don't know if there were more on an endcap anywhere. For those of you in the area, the prices from yesterday are still good through tomorrow at EITHER area Fry's.
