Hey, as customary, sorry if a repost.
So I came back from my TRU, as these things go, and the manager of R-Zone told me that they're having Wii's for tomorrow, Sunday. I got it confirmed from another friend who works there, about a hundred systems. I don't know if this is the case at other TRU's, but hey, if you don't have a system, here's your chance.
The doors are going to open an hour early as well too, and moreover, I don't know if this early opening, or the entire thing, is local or national.

Went to my local TRU yesterday. Informant advised me they were receiving 60 units. This is the TRU in Hagerstown, Md.

Saw 3 at Target today. First time I have EVER seen a Wii at any store. Unlike the PS3 which was in 4 display cases.

They're showing as being in the TRU ad for tomorrow, mixed in with the Crackemon flier inside of the TRU flier.

I might give this a shot, while other people may be distracted with Pokemon coming out, I'll snag a Wii.

Isn't it a bit too long after the launch to be posting Wii availability threads in the deals forum?

Not when the system is so awesome that it is still an elusive, hot and sexy item monthes after release. Fool.

Can anyone else confirm that the stores are opening an hour early?

The Best Buy ad also says they will have Wiis tomorrow I think. 6.5 million and still having mini-launch days :-P

I'd also like to know if all TRU will be opening an hour early. I doubt too many people know, and I could snag my pre-order for Pokemon before someone one-ups me and makes me wait for the second shipment.

Should I buy the extended warranty if they offer me?
I'm guessing no.

OK, in case anyone else was wondering and hasn't already gone way early to line up at TRU, I just got the paper and I didn't see anywhere on the TRU ad that they're opening early.
Also, I know it was mentioned somewhere before that CC is also getting Wiis but I didn't see anyone mention numbers. The ad said that they're getting a minimum of 15. And we all know by now that BB is getting a minimum of 12.

The TRU I went to let us in at 8:45 (normally opens @10). I got there at 8:40, was #19 in line and they had 33 for sale.

Why the hell are these things still so hard to find? Has any other console in video gaming history been this scarce for this long?

Sounds like a pretty massive restock. Maybe this will finally level the prices out on ebay.

Yeah, apparently mine let people in early, too. I got there at 9 and I was already #68. People were already walking out of the store with Wiis at that point so I'm not even sure when they opened. That store got about 80 of them. So the guys on the west coast better get going now if you want one.

Id vote no as well... this isn't a Sony product (not to be negative at Sony, it is just thier history, and yes I have all 3 next generation systems), Nintendo does make quality products that hold up well
I am so amazed that even now, months after launch, that these are still so highly sought after, Ive seen them in stock 3 times since I bought my launch model... I huge shipment at Sam's was snapped up in under a day...amazing

Actually, there have been a lot more broken Wiis reported than PS3's. It's mostly due to the fact that the fan on the Wii doesn't run when it's on Standby-WiiConnect24, so the console gets very very hot.
Ours died a month after launch whereas my PS3 has been running almost non-stop doing Folding since that began.

People were still complaining at mine for lack of Wii's. They had arrived late and were PO'd for early opening. The manager gave them a thorough and sufficient explanation, and he got mad. He was like 5 spaces away from getting a Wii too. I saw lawl to them, lawl!

What a dirt eater. And you know he went home bitching how TRU screwed him out of a Wii... never being smart enough to figure reality out.

well i finally acquired a wii courtesy of tru. they handled things very well IMO.
I got there around 9 and there were two girls standing at the door. mngr came otu and asked if we were waiting for wii's. he said they had 17 left and they were staggering the customers to avoid a rush, he said stand patiently well bring out vouchers shortly. very well done. i wish i was playnig my wii instead of writing this but im still waiting for an update.
The TRU in Boynton Bch , Fla Still had 11 WII's At 4pm so if you are stilllooking for one you may want to try there.

Thanks to this heads up thread.... I managed to get to the Toys R Us down here in Southern California in Porter Ranch... they claimed they had 68 in and I managed to get #65.
I basically lucked out... drifting up to the store at opening time. Now, like others have said, they must have been selling them earlier... because there were only nine of us at the door waiting for them to open ...
Y3AH! Me and my friends went to our local TRU today and got a Wii!!! There was about 30people standing out front to buy one, but they had plenty of Wii's! I thought they would only be getting a few like best buy and circuit city, but they had a lot more then i thought.

Interesting, I wonder how many TRUs are now sold out again? Even with a 10+ restock of this system I still find it a bit impressive that stores are still unable to meet the demand. Where the initial release numbers that low to begin with?
I think I'll wait for different colors of the Wii or a decent bundle/pricedrop.

I got mine in hamburg new york got their around 835 or so and they opened up around 910. I was number 8 in line and by the time doors opened they had around 20 people waiting out. They were letting in 2 people at a time. They were trying so hard to sell the warranty, games, batteries, controllers but had the stuff already .

You know, after reading the posts about Sunday's "mini-launches" all over the country, it sounds to me like Nintendo is no longer to blame for the "shortage" ... rather, the chain stores are holding back inventory so they can build up demand to the point that people have to line up outside the store in response to a sales circular. If one assumes that Nintendo is cranking out those 1,000,000 units at a constant rate, then the stores should be restocking shelves at a constant rate... What seems to be happening tho is that shelves are empty for weeks at a time, and then all of a sudden, BAM, every store has them in-stock.

You are correct! Do not buy an extended warranty... the Wii already has a 90-day warranty, and if you register on Nintendo.com, you get an extra 90 days for free. Unless you're concerned with it breaking past that, I'd skip it... I had to get my Wii replaced a week after I got it at BB, and Nintendo shipped, via 2-day Fed Ex, a replacement, at no cost, and covered the return shipping to them of the broken unit.

Oh noes. I have a CAG in my area? Were "you" able to find any clearance games from Best Buy at Crossroads? I hate that Cary TRU. Nice to find a local CAG in the area. :)

Too weird. I used to live right next to that one too. That's the area where they built a giant Wal-Mart right? I haven't been to Boyton Beach in over 10 years. D=

pleasant hill TRU had around 70 in. i dropped by to check up on clearance ds games, and the rzone employees filled me in. that was the fourth time i've seen people carrying wii's to buy them in store. they said they had sold them all in two hours - the stragglers were just shopping for other stuff.
first time was when i got mine and my cousin's (feb 11th!), second time was at circuit city earlier sunday morning (to pick up contact and a weekly ad to pricematch pokemon), and the third time was at best buy later that morning to buy pokemon. the bb guy thought i was there for a wii, handing me a voucher (after opening - not that many people knew about the huge release there) but was kind of shocked that i was in line to pricematch pokemon.

TRU in Charlotte, NC got in 100 units. I thought that was a pretty good supply. I'm sure they're gone by now though.
