Has anyone else played this game? I just beat it today and though it was really good. It wasn't on the classic level as the first one, but it was still a great game. Had a lot of cool sidequests too.

So any other opinions/rants on the game? Seems like no one talks about it, which is a shame.

I have both the first and second one, and the first one is definitely better. I though I would get into Legaia 2, but I haven't gone back to it.

Oh god, yes. This is one of those games that's on my "Why did I waste so much time playing this" list. The charecters were horrible one dimenosial archetypes, their models were very polygonal. And to this day the ending sticks in my head as one of the worse ever. I don't recall specifically what happened but it was very anti-climatic and un eventefull. The cooking/campfire aspects were kinda fun though.

Its a typical boring rpg, the only fun thing is the avatar monster guys every character can use....except the big mohawk guy who is just completely useless IMO. I got the game for 7 bucks and beat it in about 7 days...if you get the same deal then go with it.

Haha yeah so true. It was pretty generic. Legaia 1 was so much better. The ending seemed to me like a set up for Legaia 3 (only explanation I can think of).....but it won't happen.

I thought the characters and story was ok. Generic, but good enough.

But the boring combat and long bland dungeons made me give up on the game about halfway through.

I did like legaia one. I'll never play it again, but I enjoyed it. Really picked up strong at the end.

I played it back when it came out...what, 5 years ago? I know it's been a long time. It wasn't bad, but like you said it wasn't as good as the first one. And now, there are lots of MUCH better RPGs on the PS2 that would be more worth your time.

I absolutely loved the first one. I bought part 2 at Best Buy for $5 a few years back and its still sealed. I'm sure I'll get to it eventually and saying it doesn't stack up to the first isn't saying much.

Anyone else have an explanation as to why or at least the differences?

From what I remember from Legaia 1, it had a way better story, whole new battle system thing, the Serus were cool, and it was just all around better.

Legaia 2 has an average story, weak characters, generic summons, and crap ending. It was an alright game and IMO worth trying out.

I guess you and me are the only ones. I would not have enjoyed this game had I played it more recently... but at the time before there were any real RPGs out for the PS2 I liked it quite a bit. I thought there was quite a bit of depth for it. I loved making the different accessories/weapons and the cooking and stuff... maybe I'm just a sucker for that stuff.

Legaia 2 disappointed me on so many levels. I guess I'm just tired of standard RPGs but I couldn't play more than a couple hours of 2. The first one had me hooked for days though. I'd put the first one up there with any RPG on the PS1.

Like some other people here, I played this entire game and beat it, even did all the optional stuff, and I don't remember a damn thing about the story, the characters, anything.

I just remember the big guy with the mohawk was an indian or something.

The only redeeming things about this game were:

1) The campfire song
2) The song in that one dark forest.

The game isn't any good, but those songs were like... perfect.

Maaaaaaaan, I never thought I would hear about this game again. I remember that I had a tear in my eye when I traded it in.

This definitely falls under the I can't believe I spent so much time playing this game category. Like everyone else, I didn't finish it. It was decent, but didn't really have any sense of inspiration or anything. I also picked it up new, because I had really liked the first one. It was surprising that the second game was such a budget hodge-podge, because the first game was pretty ambitious on the PSOne.

I'll never know why I beat this game, but I did. I'll never forget the hilarious voiceacting. The story was decent, had a good villian, but I can't remember a damn thing except for the voices.

Whenever the main character summons: "AYIEEEEEEE!" "HIYA!" That AYIE was one of the funniest voices ever.
