Black micro
That didn't take too long for them to drop the price for this again. But what's really odd is that only the silver micro has dropped in price, while the black one is still $69.99.
Edit: After consulting with an employee about if GS has plans of dropping the price of the used micros, I've been informed that they HAVE been dropped to $39.99 and that the new price applies to both the silver AND black ones.

Black seems to be the better seller, as I had no issues finding the silver Micro @ CompUSA when they were dropping the price on them, and couldn't find a black one.
Same went for Walmart & TRU during Black Friday, and other places.
I guess people like the black one more, and that would keep the price on it higher.

Interesting. I have a silver, black, & famicom and the silver w/black faceplate looks the most elegant in my opinion.

Word, the silver looks (and feels) quite nice. It's a nice matte aluminum that feels cool to the touch every time you pick it up - very modern feeling.

Almost kinda tempting since I haven't got a GBA, but I'll probably hold out until DS Lites get cheaper and then nab one of those for GBA playage as well.

This is the price they should have launched at.

How is the screen quality on this thing? It seems like it would be impossible to play anything on something so small...

I prefer playing GBA games on my Micro. All of the little pixels are packed in so tightly that everything looks extra crisp. Also, 75% of my GBA games are RPGs so reading text isn't a problem.

i definately agree. the micro didnt sell well because of its high price tag. i mean between the GBA SP at $80 or less people are just not interested.

So would you say it's worth $50 or no?

Hard to say...I got mine at $35. :)

Where did you get it for $35?!

It's worth it at $50 outside of deals - I got two, one black and one silver, during Toys R Us' promotion thingee that applied lots of discounts last fall for what worked out to be $15 each (both have been sold/traded) but I prefer the SP since I have lots of GBC games that can't be played on a retail Micro.

I've gotten more than $50 worth of enjoyment out of my Micro, though I only paid $35 for it as well. Definitely a great little system, I never play my old larger GBA SP now.

Still can't bite at $50. Once it's 40 or below I might bite though, for collection purpose.

I must've missed the $35 thing, I just got mine off ebay sealed for $58 a week ago and it's worth that, imo. I also like the silver more than black, so I got that one. The screen is super clear like Kendro said so it's not hard to play and you get used to it pretty fast. I have some problems using the triggers too much since it's tiny and my hands aren't, but it's not that bad.
I prefer playing GBA games on it to playing them on the lite.

Kmart are the ones who're selling it for $35, though it's on clearance and you'd be lucky to even find anything.

I wouldn't mind having one, but can't stomach that price. That might be due to me getting my gba sp from a garage sale for $7.

Or Toys R Us, they also had Micros for $35.

So I stepped in to GameStop and asked about possible drops on used micros. Turns out the site failed to inform everyone that the price drop is for both the silver AND black micro and that the used prices have dropped to $39.99.

The black ones are now listed on the site for $49.99 as well.

About a week ago I saw them in a Walmart in Lehighton PA marked down to $29.99.

Walmart is generally YMMV. So... :s
As for the Famicom anniversary ones, it's likely still more expensive. No sign of 'em, though. What's funny is that Nintendo's official micro site lists all the online locations one could get a micro, yet every link listed is dead.

Thanks for the heads up OP. I picked one up today, but I got out to my car and realized he gave me a DS charger. Went back inside and after waiting for 15 minutes he couldn't find one. So I said screw it and I'll just buy a new one when I see a new one.

I've been looking to get a Micro for some time now to keep in my car to replace the old-style GBA that I keep in there now, so I'm seriously considering this deal. Thanks, OP.

Yeah, I would rather have one of the Famicom anniversary ones too. Cheapest place I've found them is at GameExpress for $59.99 (http://www.gameexpress.com/product_detail.cfm?UPC=045496717223&Section=).

I was shopping around a few stores yesterday, and the Sears in the mall had the Micros for $49.99 as well.
The nearby Wal*Mart had the silver and black Micros for $49.99 each, yet the Famicom Micros were still priced $69.99 and rang up as such too. Wal*Mart is always YMMV though.

I can't put in enough love for the GB Micro. I bought mine for about $50 on eBay about six months ago and I love it. It's not the best for extended play sessions, but I also have a DS Lite so I use that if I'm going to play for longer than 30 minutes. It's an ergonomics thing more than a visibility thing -- the sharpness of the screen makes reading and playing really easy.
The Micro's appeal is ultimate portability -- I have it in my pocket at all times, so it gets a lot of use for quick 5-10 minute bursts if I'm waiting in line or just in a coffee shop or whatever. Fire Emblem shines on it. :-)

Damn right! I'm playing that right now, it's a fantastic game that looks even better on the Micro 8-)

I'm seriously thinking about either trading in or selling my fat-style DS for one of these. For the most part, I only use my DS for GBA games; I think Mario-Kart DS is the only DS game that got more than 3 hours of play-time from me.

I'm glad people are finally realizing that the micro isn't too small and that it is actually the best Game Boy ever made.
I wish Nintendo had set the MSRP at $50, maybe the GBA wouldn't be suffering the fate it is right now..

Setting the MSRP for the Micro at more than $50 doomed the system from the start. When they were first released, I seriously wondered why anyone would spend $100 on a Micro when the updated GBA SPs with the same brighter (but bigger!) screen were available for the same price.

Another thing: Does the black micro smudge up more then the silver one? (Like how a PSP can easily get fingerprints on it)

my local store has both new silver and black ones as well as a used silver and a used famicom one
also gonna check the walmart right next to it in case they actually have any cheaper than ebgames even
question is which one is the best? the silver, black, or famicom?

Yeah the faceplates have a glossy coating like the PSP and the outside of a DS Lite so the black one can get pretty greasy.

The silver one is pretty damn slick, that's the one I own.

I own all three (like I said earlier in this thread, haha) and the silver with black faceplate looks by far the best to me. The black with silver faceplate looks OK but just seems bland, the famicom version I have never played a game on, but it just looks too much like a toy to me.

Probably what killed the micro is that it came about too close to when the DS was out, the fact that it was a Game Boy yet could only play Advance games, and that it couldn't connect to any regular Advances, SPs or previous models or even the GameCube. The retail price for what was basically a stripped down SP with brighter screen wasn't so hot when a regular SP was cheaper.
At the time, it was basically a miniture sized DS with one bright/sharp screen and could only play Advance games.
