I got it cheaply from Play Asia a while ago, but I must say that even for a Trek fan, it's kind of disappointing. The ships look OK and it's cool to have all the captains' voices, but it really seems like a budget title, and to top it off it froze several times while I was trying to play it. I eventually sold it.

Hopefully more people buy this along with Splinter Cell Wii next time so we can stop seeing repeats ;) Assuming that is WHY we are seeing repeats.

WHY we are seeing repeats.

nah were going to see repeats no matter what. DOTD are a way to get rid of extra stock.

bit for the collection... will probably never even be played.

I find these repeats to be a good thing. Am I sick in the head? Perhaps, but let me explain my reasoning:

1) Every day there is a repeat is another day more to save your money or put it towards a better deal. You never know what may go on sale thanks to dedicated CAGers!

2) Usually these repeated titles see some sort of price drop on repeated showings. Of course, there are cases where this doesn't occur but just refer to #1 whenever that happens.

3) The repeats let everyone know that, as long as a presumably fair amount of stock remains for particular titles, they will appear more than once. Were you on the fence about Sonic 360 so much that you just missed out? Well, no need to worry, it'll probably be back.

It's not necessarily all gloom and doom. I want new games listed on the DotD as much as anyone but a bit of a reprieve now and again isn't too bad. It could always be worse!

That's true. We could all have AIDS and pay 40 dollars for bootleg Genesis games.

GameSpot seemed to like it well enough.

As a Trek fan I'm sorely tempted. However, I'm going to download the demo first and see if it's even worth $20.

I'm a huge Trekkie, and the demo was pretty decent. I know the game isn't great, but for $20...

Picked up 1600 points with it.

Played the demo, which IS frustrating because the ships seem kinda slow and difficult to control... but it's interesting to hear there are tactical maps I haven't really used etc. ;)

My big thing is WHAT do I put with the game to get it to $25 and get free shipping? ;)

You could always use a filler item. I prefer to just grab something cheap off my wishlist like points or a book or cheap DVD.

I can't get the link to load, but I think it is worth it. There are some tough missions and the save system pretty much sucks (end of mission only), but I don't feel too bad having paid full price. I'd be all over it for $20.00.

Won't be able to get to download the demo most likely by tonight, so what's this game play like? TIE Fighter with Star Trek ships or more cerebral and deliberate like Battlestations? You actually control the flight and weapon systems of your ship?

Think real-time strategy meets Tie Fighter. You can steer the ship, you point out the targets, it handles lock on, you fire, you can give basic directions to other ships (up to 3 others in your fleet for total of four). You can switch btwn ships on the fly as well.

You can buy/sell ships, and handle energy management, but you don't get to outfit your ships.

It is not nearly as 'twitchy' as Tie Fighter was, by which I mean you do have to plan out your maneuvering arcs, you don't turn on a dime, and you need to think about energy management. Haven't played battlestations, but this isn't exactly Homeworld2 or Nexus either.

You should read the reviews, there are some tricky missions and other problems, but for $20 I'd be all over it. I paid $60 and don't feel too bad about it.

Hmmm...fascinating [face_spock]...I'm a huge Trekkie fan, but I heard mixed reviews about the game, any hard-core Trekkies recommend this game?? or is it a steal at 19.99??

It's in my backlog of games to play. I've played the first 1/4 of the game though. For Star Trek fans i'd recommend it though. What seems to piss off most Star Trek fans is how this game (and most Star Trek games) is basically about space combat.

A lot of the game missions are repetitive from what i've seen. But I imagine there is quite a bit of fun in multiplayer/playing your own scenarios.

Anyway, when I have more time this summer I will be getting drunk, playing this game, and doing my best Ricardo Montalban impressions.
