Official Pro Yakyuu Spirits 4 (PS3) thread

I imported this for the PS3 and it's a terrific game, but I need some help with translating some of the modes in the game.

I have very little Japanese language knowledge, but have been using some translation sites and trial and error to get into some of the game options, but there are a few modes, such as the MVP and Pennant Chase modes that have a great deal more text than I can handle.

If anyone knows someone who follows Japanese baseball or would be willing to help me out with this I would greatly appreciate it.

Edit: I've found someone that translated all of the manual pages that I really needed and he did a tremendous job. It's amazing how much a manual can help in a game where you can't read what's on the screen.

I never saw this post, but I wanted to say the game does look GREAT. I can't help with translation either so... maybe someone will notice and can lead a hand if still needed.

I've been talking about it over at the sports gaming blog that I write for.

It's the best baseball game that I've played since the first World Series Baseball for the Saturn.

Easily worth the amount that I paid for the import.

Hmm... about an hour and a half tonight and I translated maybe 30 words. hehe. It's a labor of love. I wouldn't be bothering if I didn't like the game so much.

I only had a chance to play the demo versions of MLB for the 360 and PS3 and I wasn't really impressed with them. They had some nice graphics, but the gameplay animations weren't very good and from what I've heard from some other writers I've spoken to the game just wasn't complete.

NamPaehc mentions the trailer via PSN, you can also grab a few gameplay trailers as well as the original trailer via Gametrailers.

I don't really follow baseball much, but I am a Japanese translator, so I could probably help you if you had a few terms from a menu you wanted to know the meanings of. I'm not sure how you would tell me what they are, though. Can you take a picture of the screen or something?

Hey psunami, how often do you get the black screen glitch during the cutscenes? This is one of the things I've read about that is holding me back from getting this game. Everything else looks really good on it. I don't really have the money to spend on this game at the moment, but I have a few people paying me back that owes me some money so I may have a little extra to spend.

Any chance Konami will release a patch to fix this issue?

icruise, that would be great. You have no idea how much that would help with some of the stuff that I've been doing.

I know that some of the words and terms are baseball specific and come up as such in the dictionaries that I'm using online.

Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated though. There are a few screens that would be really helpful to understand.

RawisJericho, I haven't seen that glitch once. I know someone else who bought the game at the same time I did and he hasn't seen it either. I'll have to try and track down more information about that.

It isn't really a glitch. When you skip a cutscene you get a very brief black screen as it goes back to the gameplay. So basically just a brief load.

I just figured that I would post an update.

I've put together a few impressions and guides over at the blog that I write for, if anyone is interested. I've linked them in the first post of the thread.

I have 4 sections of the game left to cover (Exhibition, Spirits, Pennant Chase, and Online Play), but I'm having a great deal of fun translating the screens and playing the game.

I'm curious to see The Show for the PS3, but so far my impression has been that this is the best baseball game on the market right now, American or Japanese.
