I heard from the grapevine that the magazine is being phased out in Best Buy stores... figures anyways. I picked one up over a month ago, to try to sign up, and was never charged for it, at least I was able to use a legit coupon and walk out with a free mag tho.

No surprise there, since they're lying about the "value" of the magazine with its "hundreds of dollars" of coupons.

Screw the two-week period, I'm just happy they're back.

Being a skeptic, I never tried to use the scans because I doubted they would work for me. Well, I mustered up the cajones and used two at once (gasp) yesterday to get kill.switch and Metal Gear Solid 3 for 10.60 after tax. I would have picked up The Simpsons: Hit & Run as well, but I didn't want to push my luck.

Seem to recall the other ones were 2.XX" x 3.XX"...I scaled them to what seemed to match the size of the previous coupons and bumped up the DPI to 300 when I scaled it. The original scans were pretty blurry/pixely when printed, but scaled and bumped to 300DPI and the print looks fine.

If I know the correct size for each coupon, I may be able to take the scan and 'shop it into a higher DPI for you guys...I'll be trying out my 300DPI copy this Sunday.

My original scan was at a very high DPI and around 30 megs in size. I had to reduce it quite a bit to upload it to Image Shack and I think they reduce it even further (although if you click on it a second time, the image gets larger). If you know of someplace I can host a large scan for free without it being reduced, I'd be happy to upload the original 1200 DPI scan.

I don't think a 1200 dpi scan is necessary - but what about 300 or 400 dpi? I don't know what the current file ends up being, but I know the previous ones were around 150 dpi once I resized them properly. And while they work, they don't quite look as good as they could. I think 300 dpi would be perfect.

I haven't been to Best Buy since the last coupons expired. Hopefully they got restocked with some more frontlane stuff. Too bad the GC coupons are no more though .

First time contribution, normally I am just a lurker.

:newbie:

I tried using the

8222185 Coupon for $5 off accessory - on a Wii Nunchuk (8054482)

the computer scans showed

$5 off any PS3 Accessory $19 ONLY - so IT DOES NOT WORK for Wii stuff.

Fortunately, I used to hang out with the lady cashier and she
manually overrode the transaction with $5 off. So unless you
want to look like a nerdy gamer at the BB counter  , (which you already
are) do not use this particular accessory coupon on anything other than
PS3 accessories.

Good luck up - as usual YMMV

I wanted to chime in with my experience as well to the BB in our Galleria mall -

I wanted two microsoft 1600 pt cards, I had two of these coupons

front register, scanned but didnt take $5 off, supervisor there, all good, got it
back register, scanned but didnt take $5 off, noted rings up PS3 accessory
despite coupon just saying accessory, denied, I didnt make a big stink

size didnt seem to matter (two diff programs and printers, both barcodes OK)
but yeah YMMV with the accessory coupon outside the sony/ps3 world

also this BB had the giftcard last time, but nowhere to be seen now

anyone see anything good with the diamond card?
CC at least used to have 10% off accessory, I dont see even that anymore

I dunno. Didn't Daroga offer to host them? Or at least he did that at some point for one of the coupon packs. Problem with all those "free" hosting sites is that they will have limits, understandably. I'd let you use my web server but 1) That would reveal my secret identity and 2) It would get hammered and end up costing me tons of money in extra bandwidth ;).

I use an old copy of Adobe Photoshop LE that I have migrated over from several computers ago ;). I just open it, rotate it 1 degree or so (at least I had to do that with the older ones since they weren't straight), enhance the contrast a bit, then resize (actually, I just change the resolution since I don't want to resample them and lose detail) so that they are about 3 - 3.5 inches across (or about 6.5" for 2 across, after I crop off the sides). Someone else will have to help you with Paint.

(Edit - just tried the new ones and they have a 1 degree rotation as well ;)).

I went today to pick up 2000 Wii Points and a Xbox 360 play and charge kit. Also came up only $5 off PS3 accessory. Went to customer service gave me a hard time saying they cant edit the coupon from what it comes off in the system. I said I got it emailed to me and he wanted to see the whole email which i said there are 8 coupons on and I dont have the whole thing on me.

I said it says nowhere on there only PS3 and then a girl came over she called a manager and gave it to me. They weren't going to give me off the Wii Points also cause they said its like a gift card but the girl gave me of the $5 off anyway. So its going to be a hassle using that coupon unless they edit it in the system.

Haven't seen it yet, but I've heard that they didn't fix any problems from the last one and several more problems including a bug that makes it easy to blaze through the game are in it. Dissappointing as I used to like the series before the last one.

I was planning on trying the Accessory coupon tomorrow, so now I'm hoping that it will work. I'll post one way or the other.

I need to find some PSP Gunpeys and Pac Man Rallys to flip for credit at Gamerush to get a DS Lite. Are these pretty rare? Are they front lane games, from the clearance, or just mixed in the regular stock? I couldn't even find the cards marking their places.

Also, I used a $5 coupon on 1600 MS Points. The screen said PS3 accessory and it had to be manually applied. The cashier immediately called the manager for his code without question. The manager put in his code without question as well.

Around here, both questions are accurately answered with "It depends." Certain stores will have Gunpey and/or Pac-Man World Rally, and certain stores won't. Certain stores have them in the front lane area, and certain ones won't, putting them with the regular stock (but still marked with the front lane prices and UPCs). Some stores even have them in both places, which I find strange.

I've seen a bunch of different front lane titles: Gunpey, P-M:WR, Exit, Death Jr., GITS, WCP, Puzzle Challenge, etc. Usually, at any given store, you'll have maybe five of the 8-10 available titles to choose from, and yes: sometimes you have to look around a good bit to find the front lane games, but they're there. Whether they'll have Gunpey or P-M:WR specifically, seems basically random.

I picked up Gunpey and Exit at $5 AC for myself, and have been happy. Heck, if they'd front lane Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins, I'd buy an extra copy for myself, *just in case* something ever happened to my original. Man, that game is swass. Still ticked that I couldn't find one at $4.99 when BB clearanced them out...and believe me: I looked.

Tried to print out a coupon and use it, and I got shot down ;x. Ended up getting lego star wars II for $10 anyways since I hard $10 of reward zone certificates, but I was hoping for $5.

The person working the register asked me where I got the coupon, and I said "a friend." people have gotten the XBL/WII points cards to work with these? I tried last time a couple times and it was a no-go. I'd like to try to use the $5offXBOX360 games for GOW but not sure if it's going to work. What's the consensus so far?

All I do is crop the coupon that I want to print out. I don't re-size or alter the OP's image in any way. It's been scanning just fine at the register. The coupon is big, but it is ringing up correctly every time at different BBs.

I couldn't use the printed coupon as well... it doesn't look that bad at all, the cashier didn't even bother to scan, she just told me she can't accept it b/c it's a copy... Man, suck balls, but fortunately, i only wasted five minutes.... I din't buy the game of course, BB can suck balls if they deny the coupon, hey, no coupon, no deal, so no buy.

This seems to be happening more often now. I think corporate cracked down on the local stores for accepting these. I went to 3 Best Buys this evening and 2 had nothing I wanted. At the 3rd, which always took the coupons with no issue before (I used 4 or 5 there over a couple of visits but not within the last 2 months), I got the "no copies" spiel. In addition, she said they got in trouble for accepting them before. So that is a bit worrisome - looks like these are being shut down - but as always, YMMV...

I went with the usual plan too - go to the young female cashier. Unfortunately, she took them straight over to the assistant manager who is the one who told me they couldn't take them. I've noticed ALOT of turnover in the cashiers at Best Buy, and this is BAD in that they are almost always newbies who will take the coupons and run over to the manager instead of just scanning that damn things like they used to... Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Thing is, I will be going to Best Buy MUCH less now that I can't use the coupons. I would often pick up things like ink cartridges and DVD-R's during my visits. I'll just get those from a closer place now. Best Buy is utterly useless (as far as I'm concerned) from a CAG perspective without these $5 coupons...

I generally try to do that also, and just did with a real copy of this month's coupon, but it seems that this era may have come to an end. Best Buys seem to have more issues with taking copies and the current coupon seems to be messed up with its "invisible" PS3 designation, which may require arguing/overriding.

OK, where can I (buy/subscribe to) the magazine for cheap?

This "no copying" development is probably going to hurt us for legitimate deals too. VERY often I see that noted on exclusively printable coupons and clerks have questioned the validity based on that in the past! Long ago, I had them refuse to take the $19.99 Age of Empires III for RewardZone members online printable coupon until I went to the printers/PC section and had an employee print it out himself. I can only imagine the difficulty if it's in email only or no longer available.

Anyway, I've said this all along: These coupons scans are not valid when printed as they expressly forbid copying. Scanning and printing constitutes copying. Case closed. Unlike the web coupons that say "No copies," these never had the benefit of being "printable" coupons in the first place and yet I've had members argue that they were "printable" just because they had done so successfully. BAH! I don't buy that at all.

Oh, man. I almost had some really good deals. The local BB was actually running a 50% off sale. They had Rule of Rose and Yakuza for 15 after 50% off along with some DS games and PSP games that would have been 10 bucks after 50% off. Naturally I grabbed a bunch to get some cheap games for 5 (and Yakuza and Rule of Rose which would have been stellar at 10) unfortunately the coupons wouldn't stack since they had overidden the prices 50% off. I opted to grab Rule of Rose since 15 is still a great price.

I don't think anyone ever claimed that they were entitled to have them work .

However, until recently they worked 99% of the time. Now I'm wildy speculating that it is down to 50-75% of the time, which makes it not worth the trouble of driving across town for the 1 or 2 games they *might* have that are worth it with the coupon.

But you need to remember the history of these things. The first "$5 off any game" coupon was handed out with the PSP launch and they were cheesy looking xeroxes handed out IN THE STORE. These, I believe, also said "No copies". But since they were originally copies they worked just fine. Subsequent coupons all said the same thing, but nearly always worked. I had figured they just decided to accept them as a matter of policy much like the GGC.

But. since they are getting rid of the GGC ($5 off anything over $19.99) it only makes sense they'd crack down on the $5 off any game coupons. Eliminating the Gamepro ones I can kind of sort of understand (though it will mean a lot less visits - one of which resulted in me buying a $1000+ digital camera in December). Getting rid of the GGC seems really dumb, though, as they weren't losing money when those were used and any extra sales that came along with the $5 off game were worth it. Oh well, they have their reasons I suppose. It's too bad they are just opening a new Best Buy close to me - seems like little reason to go there any more.

BB was a godsend in the late 90's, but I've seen the store steadily deteriorate since then. First it was terrible customer service, then the dozens of stories about Geek Squad fucking people over, and we can't forget the noncompetitive prices. I probably have $60 worth of gift cards to BB...once those are spent, I'm done with the store for good.

Anyway, I was going to print one of these coupons but decided against it after reading your experiences. It's not worth driving to the mall area to find out my coupon is rejected.

As for the history, I remember the XBOX 360 launch coupons. I was in line and yet they didn't give me mine so I printed and used the ones available here. I felt entitled to. Yes, I did encounter resistance at some stores when they'd spy the "no copies" part so I simply printed a King Kong coupon from their website that said the same thing to prove that they accepted printouts that said "no copies." This past experience is what I was basing my opinion on when I'd tell people to stop claiming that it is printable and to stop suggesting the printouts as a valid way to score the deal (instead, mention the coupon source). It happened both here and on other forums, but people would argue saying that it is printable just because they printed it! *rolls eyes*

What are the cheapest 360 games Best Buy has? Along with this $5 coupon, I have a $5 RZ certificate and I'd love to grab something cheap. I found this list in the clearance thread:

1.99 X360 Full Auto
1.99 X360 King Kong
1.99 X360 RidgeRAcer 6
4.99 X360 College Hoops 2k6
4.99 X360 NHL 2k6
9.99 X360 2006 fifa World Cup
9.99 X360 Dynasty Warriors 5: Emipres
9.99 X360 Elder Scrolls Oblivion Collectors Edition
9.99 X360 Final Fantasy XI
9.99 X360 Moto GP 2006
9.99 X360 Quake 4
9.99 X360 tony Hawk's American Wasteland

and I know that my Best Buy actually has a lot of those clearance games left (at least a lot of the XB, PS2, and GBA 1.99 titles), so I'm hoping I might be able to score a cheap game from that list. If not, I know Lego Star Wars II and Cars are $19.99. Is there anything else that Best Buy sells for $19.99 or less?

You're kidding, right?? Man, around here those games, if they even had them to begin with, didn't last more than a day or two when that sale happened (months ago). I was lucky to get a Full Auto, but only because I bought it BEFORE the sale started and price adjusted it afterwards .

At the time I was so happy to find a few of these games I forgot to use the coupons (and that was back when they worked on even the $4.99 games to make them free).

I saw a Godfather for xbox at one bb and for some reason another BB still has a several copies of all of the clearanced Star Wars games and FSW: Ten Hammers, but beyond that you're increibly lucky to find anything now.

If you're interested in BC games, you're best bets are the front line games (TOCA 3 and Demonstone stand out) and some marked down games like NFS Underground for ten, NGB for twenty, but it depends on your taste and I'm not sure which of those mentioned are BC so check the list. Beyond that Table Tennis is 20.

I got God of War (PS2) for $9.99 with the coupon, but had a little trouble. The cashier scanned it, the discount didn't apply, and when he called to get the manager's ID/code, I looked at the monitor and it said "$5 off any PS3 game - $0.00." Even my receipt says this.

He had to manually enter the discount and he commented that maybe it wasn't working since the price was so low because the game was already on advertised sale for $14.99. Weird because I used the same coupon last week at a different BB to get the EyeToy Kinetic for $4.99 AC and had no problems or need for override.

Just use the WoW $5 GC coupon. Unlike the GGC coupon, there's no shortage of those and they aren't about to expire either. They only work on PC games. Even the GGC coupon would not work on PC games without manual adjustment by the cashier (some have refused it). The GamePro $5 any PC game coupon is onlu useful for games UNDER $19.99 (the cut-off floor for the WoW GC).

Tried it today. The PC one rang up as + $1.00 and the PS2 one rang up as 0. She price corrected the first one, and just as she was about to do the same for the second, the manager came by to see what was taking so long and she asked me if I got it emailed to me, which I said yes of course. She then called another manager, who said they haven't been accepting those coupons since December. I argued for a little bit (why the hell does it say expires may 26, 2007 then?) but then gave up on it. God of War for 9.99 would have been nice though.

What is the WoW $5 GC coupon?

It's a World of Warcraft themed gift card. You'll find it hanging with a paper backing instead of a jewel case. It includes a $5 coupon good toward any PC game $19.99 and up. There are LOADS of them in stores. Some have them at the checkouts.

Does anyone know if the coupons stack with the YMMV 50% off clearance deals? A few pages back I posted about my troubles getting the coupons accepted for the clearance games. The cashier told me it was because the games were overriden to 50% off, but my receipt said "0.00 PS3" and I followed up on this noticing other people had this problem. Do I just point out the fact the promos are coming up wrong to the cashier or will the coupons not stack with the 50% off?

I had one Wii/DS coupon and I was finally able to use it for Nanostray, though, so hooray to that! I've been looking for that for ages.

I was also able to pick up a few PSP games (Pac Man World Rally, Gunpey). Nothing too exciting but after my previous experiences with the coupon I was just glad they worked. THESE guys just took them no questions asked. The second guy couldn't get them to scan (I knew those lo-res scans would be a problem ;)) but he entered them manually and they worked fine. What a refreshing change from the last few cashiers I had to deal with, who at any sign of difficulty went scurrying to the managers.

Hopefully we'll get more as now I know where I can use them (in just 1 of 3 Best Buys in my area).

My Best Buy didn't even have it on sale for $15. I figured they would, since CC has it on sale for $15 this week, but alas, it was still going for $20 when I went there earlier this week. They have it listed on their website for $15, but I didn't feel like going down there and trying to PM and use the $5 off coupon just for this game. Oh well, it'll probably be on sale again at BB sometime soon (and I know Gamestop is having it on sale for $15 starting tomorrow as well).

Dumb Question time!

Does this expire on the 26th upon the store opening or on the 26th of it closing?:-k

It would be closing on the 26th. New sales and offers at Best Buy tend to start on Sundays, so this will go until Saturday.

The actual out-of-the-mag coupons were a pain for the PC and Accessories. It's ridiculous that BB put these out and then fuck it up on their own registers and making the customers jump through hurdles for them to accept.

I can't imagine how much more troublesome it would have been with a copy.

They better get their act together if they have another promo.

Have the BB coupons been discontinued? I haven't seen any scans for after 27May2007.

I bought the mag last night and encountered all the same problems with them not discounting the product. Only one went well: Harvest Moon DS for $4.99 after coupon. It's $5 off any Wii of Nintendo DS game, but the receipt shows only "$5 off any Wii game." Thankfully, it applied just fine anyway. This leads me to believe that what it says when scanned has no bearing on anything.

I tried to get an XBOX 360 Wireless Receiver for PC for $14.99 after coupon using the $5 off any accessory $19.99 and up coupon but it shows as "$5 off any PS3 accessory 19." with no actual discount applied. I tried to get Shadow of the Colossus for $9.99 after coupon using the $5 off any PS3, PS2, or PSP game coupon but it shows as "$5 off any PS3 game" with no actual discount applied. Pickings were slim now that the $9.99 Onimusha 3 Demon Seige seems to be sold out (would be $4.99 after coupon), but I decided to try the $5 off any PC game coupon to use it on Pirates of the Caribbean: Legend of Jack Sparrow to get it for $8.99 (originally $12.99). It rang up as "PC game coupon - GamePro" but instead of applying the discount or not, it actually charged me $1! I can use the World of Warcraft $5 off any PC game $19.99 and up gift card coupon for just about any other PC game I want, and I even had a few with me, so the "it must be too cheap for the coupon" line doesn't satisfy me.

I didn't have time to correct it because I had to go to work and stop by Gamestop/EB for their sale on my way, so I'm going to have to get it straightened out tomorrow. I called to tell them to set aside the coupons because I will need them to prove that they apply when I return tomorrow, but they just kept saying that all they need is the receipt. They better not turn me away saying that "it didn't work because it's not a PS3 game/accessory" when I told them that this is why I wanted them to recover the coupons. I'll just have to bring a print out even though I bought the magazine. I'm concerned because it may cast doubt on my original coupons (I'll bring the magazine and receipt. The CSR on the phone said she knew which customer I was by my voice. Scary! I hope that doesn't mean they'll build a tolerance to me and my cheapassgamer nature.

Did you try and use them all in one transaction? I noticed this time around it was printed with a limit of one per transaction.
I just had them ring my items up separately on the last two visits.

Yes, because I was late for work.

It should be one of each per transaction because the use of one couldn't possibly prevent you from using, say, a $25 washing mashine coupon or something. The thing is, I paid for the magazine the previous night and this was my only chance to use them. It wasn't just the first one that worked and invalidated the others or something because the DS game was the second item on the receipt. I've seen reports in the thread of being charged $1 or having them come up as PS3 coupons, and having to have them manually adjusted, so I think it's just a really botched set of coupons.

Oh, wow. I didn't have any of my coupons with me (I didn't care because I was still stung by my last failure) but the 50% off table turned into the 75% off table. Rebout Rule of the Rose for 7.50, Yakuza for 7.50 (Awesome, perfect price for this game) and a few PSP and PS2 titles for 5.00 a piece. I can't believe I got a BB that actually runs these YMMV sales finally (It's a new store that just opened up in an area that's still small)
I really, really hope they do these clearance tables every so often. I thought about getting Bomberman Zero for what would have been 7.50, but I figured not worth it. It'd be great with a coupon, though.

Well, they corrected their mistakes with pricematches by pricematching to $5 less on each item ($6 in the case of the one where I was charged an extra dollar). This automatically added a discount for 10% of the difference causing me to get everything a bit cheaper. Not worth the hassel for that, but I'll take it. I need to look at my receipt to see if they refunded the dollar AND PMed to a $6 discount because the overall discount seemed too high. If they'd get these things right in the first place they wouldn't be losing money correcting it.

Not that it's worth much now with the coupons being expired, but that isn't it (more than one per transaction). I was able to use 1 DS and 2 PSP coupons at the same time Friday. It says "$5 off any Wii game" and "$5 off any PS3 game" on the receipt, but it worked automatically anyway. It seems the Wii/DS coupon worked fine, the PS2/PS3/PSP one only worked on PS3/PSP, and the accessory coupon only worked on PS3 accessories. And the PC one was all screwed up (actually charging people for using it ).

I liked the coupons better when they'd apply to *any* game no matter what they were supposed to be for. I used a GBA coupon on a 360 game a few months ago .

Good to know! I wish I knew an employee who could test these coupons like that. ;) Anyone test the WoW GC coupon to see if it applies to more than just PC games? It's from the launch of Burning Crusade.

Well I got Daxter for $10 bucks Saturday night. No problems at all with the coupon since it scanned fine.
