View Full Version : Upgrading Oblivion on XBOX live - need help with a question.

My friend has an XBOX 360 and I got him into Oblivion. He needs to update that game but he doesn't have net access (I have it on PC so I've been privy to all the updates). It's crashing a lot and he's just missing content.

I've never been on XBOX Live (own an old xbox but never connected).

My question is: What would be the best way for him to update his game? Maybe get some of the extra content? (Pirates Den, etc etc).

(A) Can he bring it over to my house without an XBOX live account and download any of the free patches (at least patches, if the content is still pay-to-play?)

(B)
OR should he search out the issue of OXM with the updates? Does anyone know which month, specifically, that was?

(C)?

I don't think he's going to want to activate his XBOX live account just for this one upgrade.

Ask for a 48 hour live code.

Need broadband connection and probably credit card and know how to set it up.

Do they give these to you at a reduced rate? So you HAVE to have Xbox Live to get patches, not just to play games?

(That's kind of lame)...

you just need Xbox Live Silver (free) to get patches and updates. Just have him bring his Xbox to your house if he doesn't have broadband, create a free Silver account and put in Oblivion and it will ask you if you want to install the latest update.

You can download the system patches off the Live site, so you can burn a CD. I don't know if that includes the game patches or not.

Xbox live silver is free; only gold is required to PLAY online. you can do everything else with silver

That's what I assumed. Do you think if we bring his 360 over and plug him in we are good to go? As in, we can activate just by plugging in and clicking some option on the blades?

As you can tell, I have no experience with xbox live. ;)

bring his 360 over and plug it into you connection, then youlll have to go through the process of connecting his profile to XBox live which is a pretty simple process, or at least should be.

Dont update Oblivion, if you do, he cant use the duplication glitch :p
