Okay, shockingly enough, there have been a ton of articles (and headlines) written about Bush supposedly saying in a speech Thursday that he was "the commander guy." It's being billed as the new "I'm the decider" quote. The thing is, Bush NEVER said what is being attributed to him. He actually said "I'm a commander guy" in reference to his support of military commanders in the field. The original White House transcript had the error in it, but they have issued a correction.

Here are some of the articles:

What I find interesting is to see if any of these sources (or the others) who got this quote wrong will issue corrections. Heck, there was a whole op-ed page article by Eugene Robinson in The Washington Post about the quote (http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/opinion/left/orl-syn-robin050407,0,4171470.story?coll=orl-opinions-col-fromleft). Any bets on whether the people who got this wrong will apologize or be called on their mistake? Somehow I think people like the Huffington Post won't bother.

Meh, it's slightly more funny, but I still like "the decider" more anyway. "Commander guy" sounds more ridiculous, but "the decider" is a much better comic book hero name.

I don't see many people offering any apology, that's not what they do. At best they'll just act like it never happened.

"Commander Guy" sounds like a really bad Japanese PSP game.

I'd expect those corrections to be announced right after the corrections about Al Gore claiming he invented the internet.
