Just curious.

Considering its the same as the premium and the core systems just with a new crunchy candy shell, I'd say exactly the same.

I have tallied the times that my elite has frozen and it's at 25 since I got it last Sunday.

I got the three red rings of death upon boot up, so i had to go exchange it for a new one at Sam's club.

wow.. I had joked before the elite came out that this is what they were doing with all of the red ring 360s that were getting sent back, repainting them black, adding HDMI, and selling them for $480, but could that actually be the case?

Really sad to see that failures are STILL happening.

Haven't had mine for long (less than a week), however have had no problems with it yet

lol maybe the 360 sales are inflated with numbers of failed units. Its all a conspiracy to inflate numbers.

It's amazing they can get away with such a crap build quality.

Actually thats exactly what Microsoft is doing. They aren't reporting on numbers sold but consoles shipped. Which includes consoles sent to sellers that are sitting on their floor. That even includes replacement consoles shipped.

Just curious.

Should be a lot better, they used epoxy to secure the BGA chips to the motherboard on the Elites - these were the ones that were becoming detached and causing the red rings. There will still obviously be some defects, but this time no design flaw.

I bought one and it exploded as I walked out of the store, taking off my left arm and three of my fingers on my right hand.

In one whole week of having the system in my possession. I didn't even get to open it til Thursday night, I had my system freeze on me a total of 53 times. It froze 20 times last night alone. The most frustrating came after I beat blacklist 3 on Need For Speed Most wanted and it froze up before it could save and give me the achievement. Hopefully the dashboard update doesn't do me in.

Wow, that's really not good. Pray it doesn't freeze while you're getting the Milestones for Blacklist 2, took me ages to get those.

same here but I bought it from amazon.com ... still have to figure out what to do with it. :bomb: did yours do anything? Mine does one of two things when I get the three lights.

1) They just flash and I get no video to the tv (error code: 0110 Memory Error / Memory Overheating)

2) They flash and it boots up and everything's fine (error code: 0102 unknown error)

... and usually if I leave it on for a few seconds and then turn it off and back on again it's fine. It plays great with no lock ups or freezes.

Pathetic.
I feel sorry for you guys with the 3 rings. Hope you get replacements quick.

To be fair, Sony/Nintendo does this too. It's not easy to track actual sell-through since no reporting agency has access to every retailer's data. It's just that with DS/Wii, when Nintendo reports shipped, it often is nearly equal to sold ;)

As for the failures, I'm on my second one. (replaced for free by MS in a week, so I can't complain)

Well, I've had mine up and running for a week now. I was really worried at first because I had a freeze-up on the very first game I tried (one of the BK games). But I've played it 20-30 hours since then and not one problem.

I was also worried because mine is INCREDIBLY noisy when playing disc games (yet fairly quiet when running off the HD). I thought maybe I had a disc-grinder system. But other than the noise (which is really bothering me) it is playing fine. If the damn thing was quieter I would be very very happy with it. As it is, I am only moderately happy with it ;). But honestly, I've held off playing some of the bigger games because I can't stand the noise. I try to stick to XBLA games, though the problem is that I bought the damn Arcade Unplugged disc. I'm actually tempted to rebuy some of those games as downloads so the thing will shut up. But that means Microsoft wins, and I won't allow that .

If only there was a way to transfer an entire game to that nice new large hard drive and run it off of there. Since I tend to play through one game at a time that would be great. I mean an official Microsoft-supported way - anything to avoid using that drive miore than necessary...
