You seem to be pissing off Chaca alot, you can't be that bad. I'm wanting to use Brad. I hate using the "poster boys" like Hayabusa, it makes me feel cheap. Even in SFII: HF 70% of the people I fought played with Ken or Ryu. Kinda boring.... no variety... :roll:

Nah, Apossum doesn't piss me off... if you play DOA 4 with us, the generally insulting conversations will enlighten you as to why we always seem to hate each other.

And yeah, I play as the shotos in SF... well, SFIII at least since I don't really play SFII at all. Pisses Asianxcore off a little. Brad Wong's main advantage in DOA 4 (at least, to me) is the fact that he's really unpredictable. The man's completely trashed and you don't know what he's gonna do. I mix things up a bit more in DOA 4 and I play as Kasumi and Ein. Mainly Kasumi.

The only borderline cheap character is Kasumi, imho. Brad is great and people don't use him that much since he's a bit more complex to learn.

No, I fired the first shot almost immediately. I think the only instance of racism on Rolento's part was the statement that made me go "whoa, whoa... what the fuck? That's... fucking horrible." I have never said that before. I'm still stunned.

Try holding Triangle and Square (it's some weird ass combination like that) as the game boots. I just hold down all 4 buttons because I forget the combo.

Also, is anyone interested in an ST-Key for the Sega Saturn? I haven't used it in a long time, but I'm pretty sure it lets the Saturn play games from another region. I'll let it go extremely extremely cheap.

Thanks, it ended up being Triangle/X to turn on progressive scan. It definitely helped the smooth out the visuals in GGXX Slash, but unfortunely the game doesn't support 16:9. Boo. Either way the game looks gorgeous.

It's nice to finally have a Guilty Gear game on my PS2.

Word. A friend of mine who doesn't even play fighting games, commented on how great the sprites in HnK looked a couple weeks ago. Not that being a fan of fighting games alters visual appeal :)

to convolute this post even more-- I picked up Guilty Gear X complete for $8.99 and GGJudgment for $12.99 today. I've never played X, so I thought I'd try it out. It'll probably suck compared to X2Reload. I also got another mint, complete copy of Gradius V for cheap, along with Daxter, Syphon Filter, and Mega Man Powered Up for $13.99 each.

I was going to pick up Crackdown for the H3 beta, but I decided that money would be better spent on games I care about. I can wait till Bungie gets their act together (way to prepare for the surge!)

The earlier Guilty Gear games are almost unplayable if you've played any of the newer games. (#reload, XX Slash, XX Accent Core)

According to the SRK wiki, this is what X has missing compared to later games in the series:

**no False Roman Cancel, no Dust button, no Psych Burst, Slayer, Bridget, I-no, Zappa not in the game**

Still for $9, I'm sure it won't be that bad. Heck, I now own XX Slash for PS2 but decided to keep my DC version of GGX

Dude, you can pick Ryu as many times as you want. I'm always wanting to get better against the shotos with Necro. I don't have much trouble with Hugo since I've been using Zangeif since I was like 12 years old. I don't mind taking a hit or two for a grab.

Honestly your Ryu was wreaking me for awhile and I thought: "Oh shit, Ryu must be his serious fighter." I tried to parry alot in those matches and it fucked me up.

There definitely should've been replay added in that game. It would then apparently show that Oro's weiner ass fireball doesn't win against Q's big ass feet. A couple of our matches ended on a pixel vs. pixel square off, pretty crazy.

I've been trying to get better with Necro (SAIII), Oro (SAII) and Remy (SAII), just because they are so fun to play.

Nope, still haven't picked up a board yet. I've been trying to get one cheap, but the prices on Ebay and on the Neo-Geo forums, are higher than I wanted to (should) pay.

The guy I got the Supergun from had his MV1F board up for grabs recently, but he wanted to trade for it. I also talked to a couple local arcade owners, seeing if any of them would sell their boards. I got a couple emails back, but no prices were thrown my way.

Oh well, if patience saves me $30-40, I'm all for it.

Man, I'm really on the fence with Virtua Fighter 5. Unless there's a sweet pre-order deal for the stick and game, I might wait this one out. I love VF but the fact that it's offline only makes me want to wait for the inevitable price drop. If VF4: Evo was 10 bucks a year after release, I can hope to find VF5 for 30 bucks sometime after the holidays.

I almost agree with Rodimus. The only thing I can't agree on is online over arcades. As much as I love online play, there's just something about the arcade environment I can't give up. Maybe I'm still in love with the nostalgia from my childhood growing up in arcades. Even though the fighting game get togethers I have with friends recreate the environment to an extent (noisy, loud, cheering, shouting, shit-talking), it doesn't cancel out my love of arcades.

Word. There used to be an arcade in the Bay Area (they shutdown for good last Sunday), in the Sony Metreon plaza that served alcohol AND had tons of fighting games. They were one of the few places I've ever seen that had Japanese head-to-head cabs of MVC2 and CVS2.

I agree with you about D&B and Gameworks. Both places are overpriced and full of games I don't really care about. When I lived in Michigan the Gameworks I would go to had Tekken 3 and MVC2 (huge cab) at the time, which I thought was cool.

Nope, still haven't picked up a board yet. I've been trying to get one cheap, but the prices on Ebay and on the Neo-Geo forums, are higher than I wanted to (should) pay.

The guy I got the Supergun from had his MV1F board up for grabs recently, but he wanted to trade for it. I also talked to a couple local arcade owners, seeing if any of them would sell their boards. I got a couple emails back, but no prices were thrown my way.

I like AoF3 and to a lesser extent AoF2. They definitely aren't that bad. AoF3 has some damn fine animation and decent game play. AoF2 is stiff but fun to play if you like old school fighters.

Red Star is mostly a brawler with some shmup parts (which are surprisingly well done.) Cannon Spike was a pure shooter, but I wanted it to be a brawler so bad. So far, I think you're the only person who has made a brawler staring an SF2 character :lol:

I wish we could get Accent Core, NGBC, and KOFXI but I'm not hardcore enough to go through modding my PS2 and importing games. For DOA 5 do you guys think they should just totally revamp the character models? Other than getting more realistic hair there is only so much they can improve with the stylized graphics used now.

I'd say DOA3 was almost on par with DOA2, but it felt too much like an expansion pack of DOA2.

DOA2 on the Dreamcast, however, is the best fighting game ever. Period. You have to dig deep, but once you find that depth, it's sweet. It's not saturated in depth like Virtua Fighter 4, and it is not simply a button masher. It feels right. There are very few instances where cheapness rules. You can truly become skillful at the game and master it.

The volleyball games are good, if only for watching the girls bounce around in swimsuits.

Meh, I didn't like DOA2 at all. I played DOA2U and got pretty decent... but it just didn't do it for me. The random counters and associated damage is way too large and can lead to some really bad beats.

I used to remember the changes and didn't think they mattered too much from 2U to 2... I just remember Ein and Gen Fu being really good. Gen Fu had some pretty easy damaging combos.

As for the volleyball games, I remember being addicted to the first one for some reason. The 2nd was just looks ridiculous and over-the-top.

Today I attempted to play Tobal 2 but it just seems too fast for me... I don't get the grapple system and the different weights of each character make it hard to memorize specific juggles. Not to mention, Epon's main juggle starter, f+H has like no range... all I seem to do is WS+M all day. =P

The game will be on the Dreamcast and PS2. It won't be on the Wii because that sucks and because this game is fun and it won't be on the 360 because MS doesn't want interesting concepts to appear on the system. It won't be on the PS3 because I don't have that system yet. Also, it's developed in JP because US developers can't do very much right.

It's alright. The boss mode gets ridiculous at times and some characters suck because their boss modes suck. Other than that, it's like a real simple 2D version of Virtual ON. There's lots of traps, in both the 4chan reference and in terms of gameplay. =P

I only played the first version in the arcade so I don't know anything about the updates or the X360 revision. When it first came out people couldn't beat the computer, and there was a huge thread on 2ch about who couldn't beat it. Once you figure out the dashing mechanics the computer gets pretty easy.

$60 for it is kinda ridiculous though, I can see the price dropping really fast. You do get online play, which is probably useful since when I played it in the arcade I only knew 3 other people that played, and they all quit within weeks and I rarely ever saw someone else play. I think if they took out boss modes, it would be a lot more fun...

In DOA2, the counters were kinda random. I'll give you that. Perhaps they needed to make the timing less forgiving for them, which they did in the sequels. What really would've been cool, though, would be to completely separate punching and kicking counters. They did that starting in DOA2U, but they only did that for mid-level counters. I know doing it for high and low would wreak havoc on certain characters' special parries, but I say screw the parries and make the countering system right.

Yeah, the timing was ridiculous. I hated it when people would counter, whiff, and then counter again since the window was so large and you really couldn't do much. You needed godly reflexes to punish a whiffed counter... if you throw, they can jab you out of it since the window is so fast, your move has to be accurately timed... yeah. It's probably better now.

They made the volleyball worse, the jet ski mode is weak, the other minigames are shit, and you can no longer play offline multiplayer. Also, when playing online, you are stuck with the default swimsuit. It's like, what were they thinking?

I really think they're too jiggly. it's not like extra jiggles or accurate physics make them any sexier... they really should work on the models some more. It feels like the less clothes they have, the worse they look. Or maybe I'm just being crazy.

I like have to say the breast physics were spot on perfect in DoAX2. Once they toned it down alot Doa 3 and 4, I was very disappointed. I got more bounce from national geographic than DoA >_<

Seriously, if you guys would look past the sexual aspects of DoAX2, you'd be a better person and like a good game.

One thing I don't like about the DOA series is everyone's moveset is just a bunch of combo series. They have more combo variations than actual moves. I'd rather learn to use a specific moves and link them togther rather than than mash away at a 4 string combo.

I love the Anniversary Collection, mainly because it you get a crazy version of all iterations of SFII and you get SF3:Third Strike. Its one of the best values in fighting gaming in existence, especially since I picked it up at the TRU clearance for $8.

I think there are mainly two camps for SF2... there are those who prefer SFII:HF with its no nonsense supers, and there are those who prefer SSF2T. Currently, SSF2T is the game that appears in Evo, and can be found on Capcom Classic Collections V2.

AE is nice, but if you're planning on playing either of the games seriously, the differing hitboxes might be a problem. Also, Vega's dive doesn't work properly on ST mode, there are certain technical elements that aren't present in ST (Ken's reversal super, O. Sagat's Tiger Shots are a lot slower... etc.), and allowing earlier modes causes some cheapness with CE Bison...

If you're just gonna mess around with friends, then it's pretty good. Plus you get 3S.

Looking past the sexual aspects of DoAX2? That's like watching porn for the story. I don't buy it. But the first DoAX is alright in my book. =P

That's probably the hardest part about learning DoA... learning how to defend all the strings. When I first starting playing against real people back when DoAU came out, I went on some huge loss streaks because I couldn't block any strings. At it's core, it's really all about those specific moves and not strings, but you can't really get there if you can't block the scrubtastic stuff. =X

The things I remember not liking about DoAU online were how easy it was to jab-throw, lag making quick moves really powerful (esp. Jann Lee's unblockable Dragon Kick), and how the lag totally nerfed characters like Lei Fang... she had guaranteed damage after parries, but because of the lag she couldn't get it out fast enough.
