Both are gone.... sort of.

NES bundle w/ 19 gmaes, 2 classic controllers, 1 Max and a Zapper, ends 5/8 @ 12:30pm EST: HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=020&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=300108751903&rd=1&rd=1)

Like-new Loco Roco Complete w/ Free shipping, ends 5/10 @ 9:30am EST: HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=020&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=300109248830&rd=1&rd=1)

Why is it that people refuse to read the whole auction before bidding? I state at the bottom, very clearly that I accept PayPal only from verified accounts and will ship to a confirmed address.

The NES bundle had a nice bidding war in the last hour or so. The victor? Someone who's account was created two days before. Flag #1. I send them an invoice and they send payment. Neither verified nor confirmed. Flag #2. Account holder on Paypal is completely different than account holder of the ebay account, despite both accounts being created on the same day. Flag #3.

I sent an email to the winning bidder and politely explained that I require a verified account for payment. I told 'her' that if she would verify her account, I will accept the payment and everything will be shipped out. The reply I get:

THE REASON IM NOT VERIFIED IS BECAUSE I HAVE TRIED TO DO SO 3 TIMES AND IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING. I HAVE A DIFFRENT SHIPPING ADDRESS THAN MY BILLING INFO WHICH I WOULD HAVE TO GO CHANGE WITH MY BANK TO JUST HAVE ONE ADDRESS.??? PLEASE REPLY AND NONE OF THE OTHER SELLERS I'VE DEALT WITH ARE HAVING ANY PROBLEMS BECAUSE I PAY PAYPAL RIGHT AWAY!

'She' tried to do it three times in the two days the account has been active? Doubtful. Why would your shipping and billing addresses be different in the first place, if it's not a company purchase? These other two feedback were left immediately, with these auctions ending the very same day as mine. I can't hardly put trust in feedback that had just been left on auctions that just ended.

I explained to her that it was in the terms of the auction that her account would need to be verified before I accept it, no exceptions. Her reply:

YOU CAN READ MY RECENT FEEDBACK ON EBAY OR BETTER YET CALL ME AT 832 262 9569 WHICH IS MY CELL# EVERYTHING IS LEGIT AND I WOULD LOVE IT IF YOU COULD EXCEPT THE PAYMENT.

First off, talking to someone on their cell phone wouldn't prove a thing. Why not a land line so I can match the number to the address? Not that it matters, but I did track the address to a dumpy looking trailer park (google maps satellite imaging) outside of Houston. This thing just reeks of trouble, so I make her an offer to just cancel the auction, both parties agreeing to not go through with the deal. I get my fees refunded, 'she' gets out with a negative or NPB. I wait all day for a reply and get nothing, despite this back and forth with 'her' all within 20 minutes. I figure she got scared off and was going to let it drop, since she obviously has no desire to verify 'her account'. I submit the dispute to both parties not wanting to finish the transaction, reason being that the buyer wanted shipment to an unconfirmed address. Within an hour or two, she responds to the dispute and declines it, stating:

THE SELLER DID NOT WANT TO "RISK" SELLING THE ITEM TO ME BECAUSE MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT IS NOT CONFIRMED.
I DID NOT AGREE, I BELIEVE I WON AND SHOULD STILL RECEIVE THE ITEM.I PAID THRU PAYPAL WITHIN 30 MINS.
OF THE END OF THE AUCTION. I NEVER AGREED TO NOT GO THRU WITH THE SALE. THE SELLER REFUNDED THE TOTAL
AMOUNT.
So, now I won't receive my credit for the listing/final cost fees. At this point I am livid. I send her another invoice, stating that she must verify her account before I will accept it. Immediately after, I sent her an email:

I would just like to state that by bidding on my auction, you did agreed to pay with a verified account with a confirmed address. That was a term of the auction and by placing a bid, you agreed to said terms.

Yes, you did win the auction and are entitled to the merchandise, but only if you hold up your end of the purchase agreement. You refused to acknowledge this and made an excuse for it, but want me to accept this unprotected payment anyways, as if it is MY fault.

By me accepting a payment of that sort, I would have ZERO protection if you happened to claim you never received said item, whether or not you received it. I would be out both my merchandise and the money received. I'm not saying you personally are out to do this, but this is exacly how scammers work on ebay, to the 'T.' Also, having two completely different names on each account also makes me worry that much more. Taking this kind of risk on a user who has only been on ebay for two days is absurd and my not wanting to take a risk on a high price item like this is highly justified. If it wasn't a legitimate reason, it would not be listed on PayPal as a reason for refunding a payment.

By offering to cancel the agreement, you were given an easy way out of it. That window is now closed. If you verify your Paypal account, I will accept the payment and ship out the merchandise and this deal will end without any more issue. If you refuse to do so, you are in breach of the purchase agreement and a non-paying bidder mark will be left.

Thank you and have a nice evening,

I have yet to receive a reply.

Any suggestions? Ideas? Comments?

Hey i will buy this for $15 now PayPal through Ebay w/ free shipping?

sp00ge

"Buy it now" is $22. Why would I allow it to go for the starting price? Put a bid on it and you may get it for $15, but I'm not pulling the auction for the starting price without giving a chance for bids to be made.

And what in the hell is wrong with people? The NES sold for about what I expected, and despite me having it clearly stated that Verified PayPal with Confirmed address only, the winning freaking bidder has 0 feedback and neither Paypal requirement, therefore inelligible for seller protection.

The biggest red flag here is the account holder's name on the ebay account is not even remotely the same as the paypal. Two names, both new accounts. Smells very fishy.

Now I have to go through the bullshit of getting listing fees refunded, after waiting for the dispute to go through and have to waste more time while the auction runs AGAIN.

EDIT: And paypal is refusing to let me reject the payment. WTF??

You blew your only chance at this by sending the mutual payment form way too early.

Just do a second chance offer and tell her to go fuck herself. It's her own fault if she can't read.

This'd be why I avoid ebay selling entirely anymore. Too many scammers and too many idiots who act like scammers.

Yeah, I think once I get this issue cleared up I'm done with ebay. Or at least screen out anyone with no feedback or less than 85% pos feedback, if that's even possible.

This is why I just avoid auctions.

I sound like a broken record, but BIN's combined with Immediate Payment Required has screened out 99.9% of all the idiots out there.

Sure, there is no bidding wars or anything, but they have to pay asap, and it has to be a confirmed address (because my paypal won't accept any other way).

Ever since I've done my auctions this way I haven't had to deal with a NPB or an idiot buyer in the past two months I've been doing it. It really cuts down on potential headaches.

I doubt this lady is a scammer, she just sounds like a moron to me. You communicated with her way too much, I would have stopped dealing with her after the first email in all caps when she kept giving me excuses.

Ha, the last time I did auctions a few months ago, Rockraverguy bid on a ton of them, but he got outbid on everything

next time just check off on your paypal to only accept payments from confirmed addresses that way she would have never been able to pay.

^^ Excellent suggestion.

Moral of the story is to have the buyer initiate the mutually agreed not to complete the sale thing. (Pretty sure they can initiate that.) If they won't or claim they can't figure out how to do it, do the NPB.

But what do you mean about PP refusing to allow you to reject the payment? I thought it was kosher to require a confirmed address on PayPal payments. If they require that to extend seller protection they need to allow sellers to require it of their buyers.

I would have disputed with "buyer did not pay", instead of mutually agreed

I had the settings for "ask me" for accepting payments from non-confirmed addresses. There were two options, "Accept" and "Deny," only "Deny" was greyed out and not selectable. I ended up accepting the payment and immediately refunding it.

I was being the nice guy by offering her a painless way out with no permenant negative marks. She blew it, so NPB is next on the list if I do not receive any sort of acknowledgement by tomorrow.

I'm done being a nice guy. You don't like the way I run the show? Don't bid. If you bid and don't agree to my terms, you're getting a NPB. :bomb:

select Profile, then listed under Selling Preferences, select Payment Receiving Preferences. Then say yes to "Block payments from U.S. users who do not provide a Confirmed Address"

Lol Look at what she is bidding on and won. Two coach purses and a nes game genie. Probably getting ripped off by cheap knockoffs on the purses or wants to be the queen of the tp with fancy do dads :)

I saw that and I'm really doubting she's legit now. Not to knock on trailer park folks, but who in the hell drops $160 on two purses in a day? I doubt someone living in a trailer park would want to spend that kinda money. I could be wrong though..

Why would your shipping and billing addresses be different in the first place, if it's not a company purchase?

I use both a PO Box and street address. Depending on what I buy and for what reason (gifts, etc), my mailing address and billing address are different.

Well, still no word from her, yet she's bid on and paid for several more items; a $60 pair of shoes and another, smaller NES bundle. I've noticed that none of these auctions have stiff PayPal requirements. Hmm...

And I just realized that those two $80 purses are both the same.

Every time I put stuff on Ebay I get bids from idiots with unconfirmed addresses and have to refund their payments. So far they've all eventually been able to figure out how to confirm their addresses. I always send them a link to the instructions on Ebay's site. It doesn't matter what text you put in your auctions, Ebay is full of morons that don't read anything. My auctions say that I ship to the U.S. only (no exceptions), yet I get constant e-mails from people wanting shipping quotes to other countries. At least you can block foreign bidders...Ebay needs a way to block unconfirmed address bidders.

I used to ship to unconfirmed addresses even though I stated in my auction text that I wouldn't, but that led to me getting burned by a stolen Paypal account around Christmas time. There are just way too many scammers on Ebay these days...people who make their living ripping other people off, both dishonest sellers and bidders. It's better not to take any chances.

Last week I sold a game lot to a guy who had an uncofirmed address, spoke broken English, and wanted me to ship anyway. I told him to confirm his address and he told me he was from Mexico but his shipping and billing address was in the U.S. Smelled like a total scammer but he did manage to confirm his address, so I eventually shipped.

Yeah, with this one, I had a bad feeling from the minute the payment showed up. Every day that passes confirms my suspicion even further and makes me glad I rejected the payment.

She has until tomorrow to contact me, then it's back to auction land and a negative on her account.
