SquareEnix Announces Star Ocean 4

No details on the game yet, or screenshots, but it is being done by the same people who did the first 3, including the original one for SNES, which I liked. Now if only they would announce another Chrono game....

Gotta love how IGN is just "assuming" it's coming out for the PS3.

For all we know, they could throw it on the DS, like DQ 9. Hell, they didn't even show any graphics or anything. I see they said next gen, but shit, they could throw it on the Wii, or even the 360.

Just hope we get some details soon.

It's listed for 360 also. I think a next gen multiplatform Star Ocean is an okay thing to assume. Platform will probably be announced on Saturday anyway, so does it matter?

After Chrono Cross I don't want another Chrono game... unless its a port of Chrono Trigger for the DS... that I want.

A, they said next gen consoles, B. What has square enix released that hasn't been on the playstation that was a console release? That one FF for gamecube is the only one I can think of.

I thought the plot twist was the best part of the game. :) SO3 couldn't keep my attention the whole way through though, pretty slow. Had to stop it and pick it up later, but all in all it was a fairly good game. I liked S02 ALOT more though.

Combat and graphic where fine to me, though I enjoy turnbased more.I just recently finished Star Ocean 3 and I liked it a lot. None of the guys looked like girls and vice versa. Story was good until the twist, but the action-oriented gameplay was awesome and the fact that there weren't any random battles was another plus (except for those extremely long dungeons and the fact you could only hold 20 of each item). The only downside was that you get the majority of your characters towards the end of the game, and it's just not worth it to level them up.

I can't wait to see what part 4 is all about.

Seriously though, I'd prefer it be made for one system, either PS3, or 360, to hopefully, take advantage of the hardware.

So, single-platform third-party games are inherantly better? Interesting.

I highly doubt that a game like SO4 is going to be so extremely pushing the limits of whatever hardware they do choose, that it would make any difference whatsoever.

I could see this actually not hitting the 360 seeing with Tri-Ace/Tri-Crescendo already releasing Eternal Sonata (Trusty Bell) and Infinite Undiscovery on the 360 already without word of either heading to the PS3 yet I believe. They may also wait and see how well recieved Eternal Sonata is on the Xbox 360 before deciding on actually releasing it on the 360 and that would probably imply that it's being developed for the PS3 first and foremost. Either way those are just two random theories that I could see happening.

The first Star Ocean is getting a remake / port to the PSP - it was announced the same time Star Ocean 4 was announced.

It'll definitely come out here, too.

Yeah, iirc the 2nd one will be getting a remake as well. I'll just need to get a PSP for them...
