USA Today Poll (http://www.usatoday.com/news/polls/tables/live/2004-07-12-nc-poll.htm)
This is too funny. Kerry selects a North Carolina Senator who wouldn't win his own state in re-election for his current office. Then a week after he was selected the Kerry/Edwards ticket is down 15 points with likely voters in North Carolina. Wait, wasn't John Edwards picked because he could help swing southern voters to the ticket :?:
Classic. After how many books, movies, "scandals", reports of bad news what have you and Kerry is still down by 15 points in John Edwards home state? This is going to be one funny, funny November. I can't wait to hear the screams come election night when Senator Lurch and the Breck Girl implode.

I just love how the media is running with this story. I bet it'll be on the front page of every newspaper tomorrow....not. Instead we hear about a poll where people say Bush is arrogant.

I am pretty sure he would win re-election. I have yet to see a viable conservative step up to take that seat away.
and North Carolina has voted for a republican president for the last 30 years so it is nothing new

The word I've been hearing is that Edwards wasn't expected to be re-elected. If you can't carry your home state (ala Tennessee) you have really big problems.

The reason Kerry and Edwards are down 15 points?
I thought it was obvious? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22410)

Edwards has done nothing for this state. He served half his term then hit the campaign trail.

At one time he claimed his reason for being was to cancel out Helms' votes. Since that is no longer an issue you can go home now, Mr. Edwards.

you know whats really funny Bush actually claims to care about the environment http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/science/07/13/forest.rules.change.ap.ap/index.html
PittsburghAfterDark, you always post such great news for Republicans, well heres some news that is actually information and not just a poll.

Edwards served six years on the Senate.
Bush served six years as Governor.
So I suppose that means Bush didn't do anything for his state either.

There are lies, damned lies, and statistics.
Until the election actually comes and goes, I don't care what any poll says one way or another.

Yeah, I read that story, not from CNN but I am aware of it. I think its wonderful that more trees will be cleared to participate in the free enterprise system of America. Every time I hear someone yell TIMBERRRRRRRR I hear the economic engine moving into higher gear. Any truly great American tree dreams of being lumber for a home, a piano, a new business or even a baseball bat. It's a wonderful thing.... trees. You cut them down, plant a new one, they grow back!
Trees, just one of America's most renewable resources. Thank God we're going to be harvesting more of them.

when you plant a new one it takes 50 years for it to grow back if not more.
also why would a tree want to be killed?

lets not forget about erosion from lack of trees or loss of homes of native animals. Peopl complain about animal problems because we are destoryin their homes. We have national parks to be observed and respected, not to turn into toothpicks. Ohh and buy the time those national forest trees reach the same size as the ones that were cut down, your children will probably be elderly. They take forever to grow to maturity, of course if you knew about ecosystems you would have some idea.

Aye, the renewable forest theory is a shaky one at best. It does indeed take almost 50 years for a "replacement" tree to grow to an "adult" tree size.

Here's a poll from WRAL, a CBS affiliate from North Carolina:
http://www.wral.com/news/3530033/detail.html
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Results are in from the first statewide poll since North Carolina's John Edwards joined John Kerry in the race for the White House. From the numbers, the news is mixed. Right now, the WRAL/Mason-Dixon poll shows George Bush and John Kerry in a statistical dead heat in North Carolina. Just three points separate them, though the gap was closer three months ago. The undecided vote could make all the difference.
So what does that make these polls? Worthless.
Much like PittsburghAfterDark's thread.

Now I'll just sit back and wait for the bush supporters to call WRAL a bunch of liberals.

Not to mention that I don't see you out planting trees, PAD. They're not very renewable if you don't plant new ones.
