View Full Version : Magazine Storage?

I never, NEVER through away back issues of Gaming Magazines, since I go back and read them quite frequently. Also, lately I've begun bidding on back issues of PC Gamer, Nintendo Power, and EGM on eBay (though I'd never pay more than $4 for an issue).

Anyways, these factors have brought me to have a fairly large magazine collection. I need a way to store them. Here are some ideas I've already tried:

Boxes! Didn't work because the magazines aren't sturdy, and if I stack them horizontally (spines facing up), they'll all fall over when I remove one to read, and if I stack them vertically (covers facing up), I can't get to the ones on the bottom.

Piles! Made a neat pile once, with all of the magazines in chronological order, but it quickly fell over when I tried to get magazines near the bottom.

Right now I have them all on a shelf, in piles. This causes them to get a bit beat up, and I've run out of room on my shelf. So I'm looking for more ideas.

I'd like something not very expensive (for instance I don't want a retail magazine rack in my house), but any sort of semi-cheap, maybe wireframe? shelving system would help. I'd like to keep them in order, i.e. some sort of set up where I don't have to move magazines to get to other magazines like I do now, but more than anything I just want to get them all off of the floor.

Thanks!

You could bag (http://www.bcwsupplies.com/prod-MAG%20OR%20MAG-THICK.htm) and board (http://www.bcwsupplies.com/prod-BBMAG.htm) them much like comic books. Then stick them in mag boxes (http://www.bcwsupplies.com/prod-MAGBOX.htm)

This link below has everything you need.

IMO it'll be the best, and cheapest way. When they're in the bag and board they're protected from getting nicks, and dents. Plus the backing board keeps them straight so they stay nice, and flat and stay in order. Once they're b&b you can easily flip through them to find the one you want to read.
