All the checkout lines were pretty long and somehow I chose the one with two :oldman: ladies :oldman: who both wrote a check for payment. I'm really getting sick of people bitching about the Amazon DOTD. Ya, there are some ones to bitch about, like when they put up Tony Hawk Whatever for the 8th time, but seriously, Crackdown for $45? It just came out with a slew of DLC, it has the Halo 3 Beta (maybe...sorta), and it's $60 everywhere else.
That and "if it drops to $1.99 I'll pick it up." It won't.

Au contraire - if the NES, SNES, and Genesis have shown us anything, it's that you'll absolutely be able to find it at $1.99 eventually. It might be ten years after release at a garage sale, but it'll get there. ;)

Plus, there are a few decent concerts on the slate this summer. Snow Patrol and Bob Dylan for free wouldn't be all that bad. :)

Kinda morbid but when I was younger we went down to Tennessee to bury some family member and I was about 5 or 6. I was so bored, I went to the car and got some toy cars. I then proceeded to play cop and robbers in the little coffee room they had while making the siren noises.

When he told me his dad died he sent a text message telling me. He then said a couple of other things. But never mentioned the funeral. Then when I did talk to him on the phone he told me he needs to keep his mind off of it. So I just talked to him about baseball, and video games.
I found out when and where the funeral was via the newspaper obits. So I sent flowers. I sent him a text message saying I'm sorry, and that he always has me & my family if needed. He's an only child, and my best friend.

The problem is in most places in America you just can't do anything without driving your car. Where I am I could walk to a grocery store, but it's about a mile each way so I wouldn't be able to buy many groceries...
Apparently they make Diesel engines that run cleaner and with less noise and stench then in the past and get better mileage. That's something I could see going with for my next car assuming there are good choices and they are priced about the same as normal gas vehicles. It's an old tech so I don't see why they wouldn't?
I laugh when I see the flex fuel vehicles around here (always a monster SUV as well) as it always makes me wonder if the owner will fill up even one time with something other than plain gas. There's maybe one public E85 pump within 30 miles of me...

Jim Rome the other day had a great rant on gas prices. He said he saw it for 3.80 and wanted to see it hit 4 bucks. He would be annoyed at 3.99, fine at 4.00, and pissed off at 4.01.

Ah, but that would piss off the smokers because they'd have to pay more to slowly kill themselves.
I lost one of my grandfathers from smoking-induced cancer when I was younger. In my eyes, anything that can lead to people smoking less is a good thing...and the cheaper gas would just be a benefit, though I doubt the decrease would be all that noticeable.

Well it is all relative. My mother has a flex fuel truck, but that is because her truck has the vette engine in it and my dad wanted the all aluminum block. She can't get any ethanol for it, but it gets 20 mpg and is a beast on the road.
I sent flowers that have a card. I sent one of those wreaths on a stand type things.

Sounds like you are being a good friend, so that's good. I wouldn't be quick to assume he wouldn't appreciate you showing up unless the paper mentioned family only for the funeral or something, but you obviously know him well and I don't know him at all. Being there for the guy in one way or another is the most important thing and it sounds like you are doing that in the way you feel is best. That's never a bad thing.

I haven't driven a car in about 4 years, I have the luxury of walking to the grocery store and back (it's about a 15-20 minute walk depending on what you're carrying, but I also have a cart thing). The movies theater and Best Buy are the same distance in another direction, and finally I have the T to take me anywhere else in Boston or outside I need to go.
I'm sure as more FFV are sold there will be more pumps (chicken / egg thing) but I won't be buying one until the pumps are there and the prices are comparable. I've also heard there just isn't enough ethanol to support the amount of fuel the US would consume.
The cleaner-burning diesels need a higher-class of diesel fuel, and it's not available everywhere yet. The pump would tell you if it'll support a 2007+ diesel engine.
E85 is bigger out in the Midwest than it is on the East Coast.
Latest popsci seemed to indicate that they run cleaner on the diesel that should be available at pumps now. (Much lower sulfur.) Or is low sulfur diesel not at most pumps in the US yet? They can also run on biodiesel of various %, but that's a lot less widely available. (Probably about as available as E85 on the east coast...)

I wish American cities were designed better so I wouldn't have to drive everywhere. I went to Toronto a while ago, and from my hotel, I could walk to anything within a few minutes as far as necessities go - food, small clothing stores, etc - and other needs were pretty close as well.
Generally everything in Toronto was a giant building with office space and apartments on the higher floors, so the lower ones could be dedicated to general commercial outlets.
Instead, here, a gas station is just under a mile away, and the grocery stores is 1.5 and across two huge busy roads. There's a smaller store near me, but its prices are double that of the grocery store.
My last three jobs in this area would be several miles down the highway.
I guess I just keep thinking that if stuff was more centralized and used vertical space instead of horizontal, it might concentrate everything I'd need to drive to. I know Graystone was saying a similar thing at some point. I can't help but think it would be nice to have this huge building where I could take an elevator to the ground floor, pick up some fast food and groceries, and then go back up. Meanwhile my job might be within a few hundred yards walking distance.
Also would be nice if we had better public transportation. But around here if you wanted to do that for college classes, expect to waste (literally) over 2 hours each day waiting for the bus and riding it around.

Odd dream: I don't know why, but I dreamed that I picked up some kind of wireless Logitech keyboard on sale at a Walmart for Graystone and shipped it to him. But then he decided he didn't want it, so he sent it back to the Walmart. I went back a few days later and found it and bought it at a bigger discount. For some reason, when GRaystone sent it back, he included a pair of old jeans he used to wear, along with a belt still on the jeans.
There's probably some messages in there I don't care to speculate about.

The paper didn't mention anything. His obit was the shortest I've ever seen. It said
D. Dugan of Trotwood 45 viewing 1:30Pm North Dayton Chapel.
So I know its really ripping him apart. Cause even doing the obit proly made him cry for a few hours. I would sorta like to go but I just have a gut feeling that it wouldn't be right for me to go. That my friend doesn't want me there.
I'm think he's looking at me for relief from this, and if I go to the funeral I would ruin that. By relief I mean he can talk to me, and I'm not going to bother him with questions. I'm going to try to keep him happy, and his mind off of it.
I hope I'm doing the right thing. I hope.
Speaking of gas, I just ate an apple.

I think carrots would be louder. I could be wrong, I don't like apples that much. Only apples I like are HoneyCrisps (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honeycrisp) and they're hard to find around me.

Mountain bike IMO. It can handle gravel/dirt/grass or going over curbs, etc. If you're not going to be doing much (or any) real off road stuff with it you can get smoother tires which will increase efficiency on smooth pavement.
Road bikes are easier on pavement, but I don't think they do well on anything uneven.
They also have hybrids that are fine for just about anything other than real mountain bike trails. They always seemed kind of like junky mountain bikes to me though.
Honestly I'd go to a real bike shop or two and talk to a guy there about what you plan to do and see what he'd suggest.

Yea I mentioned that most other countries are set up for walking. Most 3rd world countries that have cars are mainly for looks, and to keep up with the Jones.
Yet in the good ol' USA for some reason its very important that everything has to be driving distance away. Normally in this country if we have something thats in walking distance its either a gas station, or a small "corner" store.
And wtf the dream? I sent back a pair of pants and a belt? the hell?

Yessir. America wasn't exactly designed with fuel efficiency in mind. Some really crazy person needs to develop a legitimate alternate form of transportation or at the very least fuel. That crazy person will be very rich.
Jim Rome the other day had a great rant on gas prices. He said he saw it for 3.80 and wanted to see it hit 4 bucks. He would be annoyed at 3.99, fine at 4.00, and pissed off at 4.01.

Well, conspiracy theorists will tell you that such vehicles have already been made, but that the government has destroyed them since it would radically shift the economy, and thus potentially eliminate lots of jobs in the process. I.e., an electric car would disrupt our dependence on oil, which would ruin those companies.
On a related note, I've heard there was once an engine so efficient and simple that it would basically eliminate the need for mechanics, but that it too was shut down before it could reach the main market.

Really, I'd be happy if he wasn't on radio anymore. He grew old really quickly, and I'm not a huge fan of the "Here's my take" style of show; listening to him rant then listening to the callers rant without any real discussion going on is just boring.

Most obits say how a person died, and who they're survived by. But all this said was his name, and 1:30 at North Dayton Chapel.
However my friend texted me back, and said "Its cool I feel bad for not asking."

I spend anywhere from 10-20 bucks a week on gas, and that's even if I'm doing the bare minimum of driving.
So anywhere from 520 - 1040 bucks a year on gas. That's insane, considering before this administration, it would be a third of that.
I guess the thing that bugs me the most is that I'm very much a utilitarian at heart, which is why it infuriates me that there might even be the slightest notion that we would be prevented from things that might help everyone on a grand scale simply because some businessmen are wallowing in profits.
Example (and this is coming from Bill Maher, which means it could be wildly full of spin, since I no longer trust any talking head from any side of political debate anymore) - we're trying to move toward organic fuel. In Chile (or Brazil, I can't remember which), they have already done this, using organic fuels built from sugarcane. Their entire country uses it - it's highly efficient and very easy to produce.
We are trying to have the same progression, but instead we're going to use organic fuels derived from other grains. Grains that - if you trace the money - run into some of the biggest corporations run in the US. So these companies, despite making tons of profit already, are now going to get stipends and subsidies from the government, as well as potential tax write-offs and deductions. And on top of all of that, the organic fuel that they want to manufacture is 1/8th as efficient as the sugarcane variety used in Chile.
All of that really annoys me on some levels that make me sick. But I have to come to terms with reality that says there's nothing I can honestly do about it on a large scale, so I have to just try and do my part as best I can.
Anyway. Enough ranting about such things.

Gas isn't AS bad as we think it is... given inflation and all that crap gas prices in 1981 would've been in the $3.20-$3.30 range. I believe that was March-Mayish area on that one.

The apartment viewing is from 4-8. Either she has to find another sitter, or I'll be walking around the new apartment with a baby who's not mine.

About $40 but I don't do it every month. Like Last month I didn't get a box. So I'm excited for this month. It would be nice if I had a local comic store. I would proly spend less each month. Cause I could skim through them at the store. Decide if that months/weeks comic is worth buying.

It can be a steep slope sometimes. I like to read new things. But if all else fails I keep my standards of Spawn, The Punisher, Ghost rider, Blade, Detective Comics, Simpsons, and a couple Steve Niles be it a mini-series he's working on, or just a walking dead book.
But this month I'm trying out GI. Joe, Superman-Batman, Jonhah hex, and METAL GEAR SOLID SONS OF LIBERTY

Punisher was the first comic I read back in the day. IIRC most comics are monthly. I know new comics are released on Wednesdays every week.
Yea there are a lot of comic that go different ways. I think at least 5 different batman comics a month. I stay with the normal stuff so I don't have to worry about all the different arcs etc. I know I'm missing out on somethings but its not worth spending $30 on one story arc that doesn't really do anything, Arcs do add exciting, fresh things to comics. But I'm old school in a sense I just want to see my hero kick ass.

I thought my $40 a month was a lot.
$40 is a lot. I'm down to 2 comics a month from like half a dozen. But that's not counting the manga I keep up with.

Dark Knight is another spin off. Its one of those 5 that comes out every month.
I'm outta here for a bit. Going to make a bag of popcorn and then watch a flick.

I easily spend at least $100 a month on comics. Lemme actually put a list together of everything I currently read. This should be interesting.
