Halo 2 multiplayer help

Just wondering, does anyone still play this game? lol. Everyones probably playing the Halo 3 beta I guess...but I figured there would still be SOME people playing. I press quickmatch and tried all the optimatch options, but all I ever get is a party by myself. It says "I'm missing a map required by this playlist" every time I try and join ANY type of game. I downloaded the three free map packs that they had, and it still says this. Any idea what I have to do differently?

(I just got the game...for cheap...since I haven't owned an xbox, but got a 360 recently...so this is my first time trying this game)

Because you need the new maps that cost $4 to play ranked playlists...

hmm weird it worked now suddenly...for some reason I got the 3...2...1..0 countdown and got into the big match or whatever (the bottom one with 16 people). Last game I played I got the sword...and man it was sweet :D

also if you wer elucky enough to dl the new maps before the play ranks reset, you have to download them again because they got changed a bit to prevent cheating

Well I think I figured most of it out...except how to make my own game and how to change the background color of my emblem lol.

Anyway I was sucking yesterday and most of today, with basically a 1.5-2 K/D ratio or so...sometimes 1-2, but tonight I read some multiplayer faqs on gamefaqs.com and they were really helpful!, especially on good dual combos considering was used to just pistol mainly in Halo 1 for PC. I got my first TWO killtaculars in Halo 2 in two different games, AND I was first place for my first time in a big 16 player match. First I went 14-8 on a cool map I hadnt played yet. Then went like 11-11 on one map (but it was 3 vs 8 since everyone left on our team), THEN I went 14- 5 on Blood Gulch and I got running riot! :D I found my first banshee on this map, and thats what definitely helped me get it. I didn't know they were so overpowered in this game. I ended up taking out 2 banshees, 2 ghosts, 1 hog, and a few walking people (and its also sweet how they slowly break apart).

So ya...I think I'm getting the hang of it. Awesome game...I think I'm addicted xD Only map I hate is this one with a windmill type structure in the middle.
