If you look at your reflection on the back of a metal spoon it's normal. If you look at your reflection on the front of a metal spoon it's upside down. I recently discovered this by accident and was a little freaked that I never knew this. I told my 12 yr old son and he said he knew that happened since he was like 5. Just wondering if anybody else did not know about this.

Edit: It seems a lot of people do not know a lot of things. I thought it would be cool to edit this thread so you guys could post your strange facts, statistics or whatever else you would want other CAG to know

Yeah, It has to do with the physics of the focal length of concave and convex mirrors, if I remember my highschool physics properly.

I know the physics of it but I still never thought to look in a spoon as an example of it. My mind gets blown away by little shit like this that I never knew before but think that I should have

I think that's because in life, we've always been taught that pretty much everything has a beginning and end. So it's too hard for us to imagine infinity and to comprehend it.

I know I have a hard time coming to grips with the possibility that space continues forever. I dunno, I just feel like it has to end somewhere, but then I ask myself, if space does, in fact, end somewhere, what is beyond that.

I just can't comprehend that space continues forever. Time for some Motrin!

I looked at my spoon handle pointing down and sure enough I was upside down. Then I did a little scientific research and put it handle pointing up.... can you guess the results? I was the right side up!!!!

I'm a little surprised that there has only been one Matrix comment. I'm more surprised by that than the fact that my reflection is upside down.

Wait...

What if we are all upside down and the spoon is right-side up? That means that everything we know is wrong. I'm going to need some time to deal with this startling revelation...

cutlery? Almost as good as people calling plastic eating utinsels silverware.

*EDIT* silly me... Upon a little research I found that cutlery does include forks and spoons. And all this time I thought it was just knives. Pardon my ignorance.

Since I'm a big Discovery Channel/Animal Planet nut, how about the fact that the Duck-billed Platypus is actually one of the top-ranking most poisonous creatures? It has barbs on the inside of its back legs that can pack a serious wallop.

Did you know sixteen people in the United States die each day waiting for a life-saving organ transplant ? With so many other people dying each day I don't think people waiting for transplants should be dying. I need to do something about this.

The tallest tree on the planet, a giant redwood that soars 370 feet into the California sky, is still growing.

An ostrich's eye is bigger than it's brain.

When possums are playing 'possum, they are not "playing." They actually pass out from sheer terror.

Each king in a deck of playing cards represents a great king from history. Spades - King David; Clubs - Alexander the Great; Hearts - Charlemagne; and Diamonds - Julius Caesar.

If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle; if the horse has one front leg in the air, the person died as a result of wounds received in battle; if the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.

okay I will leave you alone now.
