I stopped at a church rummage sale and paid $15 for:

A working "R.E.A.L." 3DO
extra controller
Space Ace (complete)
Dragon's Lair (disc only)
FIFA (complete)
Madden Football (complete)
Rebel Assault (complete, bent box)

and the game I'm most excited about: a complete (but box is dirty)Wing Commander III

I know the system works, but I haven't had a chance to hook up the sytem at home yet.

Anyway, was that a good deal, or a great deal?

Great Deal. for 15 bucks that system is a steal....im looking for one on ebay because im building a vintage game set up in my room..i saw one complete with 15 games go upward to 100 bucks...great find. keep it as a collectable lol..and its 15 dollars...nothing beats that.

I paid $400 for a new one when they first came out...no, I'm not proud - but there were some pretty good games on it. Phoenix something-or-other was good. Crash and Burn. Gex.

Great find for $15!

The 3DO is one of the most overlooked gaming systems in history, second only to the TurboDuo. The 3DO version of Wing Commander III is STILL one of my top 10 favorite games. Get a flight stick if you can find one. Makes the game even more awesome. Also, as mentioned: GET GEX. Best verison of a great game. The 3DO also has the best version of Road Rash. Great find. Hell, that was the last version of FIFA I actually liked...

I want one. I didn't think much of it at the time. It was my freshman year in college, and my good friend had one down the hall. In college, I was interested in other things outside of gaming, obviously, so it wasn't a big deal...but now that I'm reverting back to all things nerdy, I want one badly. You have a great deal on your hands. I think tonight I'll be on Ebay to pick a bundle up for $100.

Get Return Fire - widely considered to be one of the best games for the 3DO.

I take that last sentence fragment as a challenge! I got mine last summer still in the box for $1. It came with Soccer Kid, Wing Commander 3 and a few other games. It still has the $399.99 sticker on the box.
For $15 though, you still got a great deal (obviously) whether you keep it or reap great profits on eBay.

By the way, you're not posting in the wrong forum, but there is a garage sale thread in which those guys/girls would enjoy reading this.

I agree about WC3 (a lot of fun, and definitely the best version I've played) and about Gex (very cool action platformer, the psx version was too fast), but while the 3DO version of that particular RR game is probably best, it doesn't hold up that well over time IMO.

I'll recommend Quarrantine to the OP. Think of it as a primitive Crazy Taxi with weapons and a few mission varriants. But make sure you watch the live action opening to the game. Best part about it.

I loved my 3DO. It had some pretty good games. Off the top of my head, my favorite were:

Road & Track Need for Speed (Yes, Road & Track!)
Road Rash
Gex
Samurai Shodown
Way of the Warrior (cheesy fun)

I'm sure there are more, but I can't remember, it's been awhile.

Thanks everyone, especially for the game recommendations. It sounds like I should try to find a copy of GEX.

You're right, ragtop70, I should have posted in the garage sale forum! I'd copy my first post over there, but Scorch would probably get me.

Yeah. I got it last summer at a garage sale. The lady said anything I could get in a bag was $1. I also got a Genesis with Sega CD and a few games. It would have all fit in one bag, but she made me pay $2 for everything.

That's funny though she only bumped it up a dollar...

I really need to visit more garage sales. My fiancee always tries to get me to go but I'm always too tired/lazy.

I think my best find ever at one was a DC and several games for ten bucks. Unfortunately most of the games were duplicates of ones I already had and my original DC still works like a charm.
