I got this as a gift (http://www.angelfire.com/anime2/animedia100/dvd/beboptv.htm) a long time ago. I always thought it was the "real" Perfect Sessions, but now I could to find out that set is like 7 dics while this one is only 3.

Can anyone clear up the story on this for me? Thanks.

Yeah man mine is a giant box with 7 retail dvds in it and a soundtrack.

It is really funny because it has all this copyright protection babel all over the box and even on the discs (3 of them). They did a pretty good job making it look like a legit set, but I guess they have plenty of practice now there with bootlegs.

Yeah, I had the same set a looong time ago, I think it was Mac.tv instead of the FX release though.

It got me through watching the whole series, which is what I wanted to do. I as well thought it was the real thing until I started collecting dvd's.

I only paid about $20 for it, and thats usually how much it sells for so they shouldn't have lost too much.

Speaking of which, where is the cheapest way to find a non bootleg version of the soundtracks to this show?

Humm was there ever a normal US release of the soundtrack? The one that came with the boxset was just the normal Japanese retail cd.

It's listed for around 30.00 on amazon. I sometimes see them on ebay but you have to be really careful sorting it out from a bootleg. The good news is that if you do find a legit one on ebay it is likely to go cheap because of the numerous bootlegs.

The number of discs is another clear sign that it's not legit. You're probably never gonna find an official American release of a 26 episode complete series on anything less than five disacs, though most of the time it's gonna be in the 6-8 range.

The real perfect sessions box set has a serial number on it as well. I believe it's XXXX/9999. EB/Gamestop used to be great for picking up the individual discs. I'm just now getting into the show after buying the discs about a year ago, it's pretty sweet.

I've got the same set, too, as a gift. Even though it's a bootleg, it looks and plays absolutely fine.
