Latest San Andreas pics and info - 7/14

[Scrubking]

- The Draw Distance in the countryside is 4 times better than that in Vice City.

- The Mountain, Mt. Chiliad, Is the biggest single object in the game.

- You will start to see clouds when you reach a certain altitude on Mt. Chiliad.

- There are tunnels and lots of foliage on the mountain.

- Two of the country side cities are Dillamore and Angel Pine.

- There is a Liquor Store and Trailer Park in Angel Pine.

- It is possible to attach and detach the trailer on the back of large trucks.

- Dillamore contains a Gas Station.

- A mission involves robbing the Gas Station in Dillamore, however it results in CJ and his accomplice stealing the large Gas Truck outside.

- The foliage in the countryside is only drawn when the player can see it which keeps the game feeling vibrant and alive, but also maintains a steady framerate.

- The M-16 Assault Rifle will make a come back.

- The longer the player holds down the R1 button, the more chance there is of getting a headshot on an enemy.

- Unlike previous GTA Games, the players stats actually change the way 'their Carl' will behave. If a player drives around on a bike a lot, they will be a good bike driver in the game, but won't be as good at driving a car.

- New vehicles include a 4x4 Jeep, Quad Bikes, A Monster Truck, A Combine Harvester, A Dirt Bike and A Gas Tanker along with what appears to be a Sabre, A Rancher, A Walton, A Greenwood, An Esperanto, A Sentinel, A Bobcat, A Virgo and a Manana from Vice City.

- The Monster Truck does not have a hand brake, but rather the ability to switch to 4x4 steering mode, which gives the vehicle an extremely small turning circle which is great for navigating through the trees in the country side.

- The Monster Truck also has the ability to drive through shallow rivers thanks to it's raised body.

- Players will have to be very careful when driving the Gas Tanker as it will Jack-Knife very easily.

- There's a country hide out where you have a female acomplice who is unnamed.

This game looks awesome. I loved Vice City and from the sound of it SA will be even better. There's a ton of great games coming out this year. I need more money for them.

i have a question that may be stupid... but whats the deal with preordering?? i understand it on a HUGE game like GTA that may sell out, but why do people preorder sports games and such (NCAA 2005, Madden 2005, ect) when you know they will more than likely either be marked down or have a special deal the week they come out?? or if nothing else you could use one of the best buy $5 off giftcards.. if im missing the upside to preordering, please let me know...

You're right, it's not that necessary for bigger titles. But for smaller, niche titles, it can give the publisher useful info as to who and how many are interested in the game. If there is a smaller game releasing that you know will be lost in the backwash of GTA and Madden, it's a pretty good idea to preorder. Also, those smaller companies are often the ones who give out the coolest pre-order merchandise (Working Designs anyone?) :wink:

Scrubking, you very well may end up making me buy this. As much as I am afraid that it will be too similar too the older GTAs, the stuff you keep posting just gets cooler and cooler. Thanks for all the info, and sorry for giving you a hard time way back when. :wink:

One other question: any info on the variety of music in the game? I'm sure it will be leaning towards hip-hop, but it'd be nice if it had the same diversity it has had in the past.

R* has said that although there will be rap music - San Andreas's music will be more diverse than that of Vice City.

I will be in line the day this game comes out I mean will be pushing old ladies out of the way. it is on "rare" dual layer ps2 disc image how many people will be pissed caused it wont work on the ps2 it will be the new DRE.
