I have been out of the loop as far as processors go, what is the difference between the new AMD series?

I figure if I get a PC heavy on ram w/ a solid processor and graphics card I'll be set for quite some time.

EDIT: Here's a quick system I put together on Newegg -

Let me know your opinions.

It seems like you're missing a standalone video card. If all you do is just photoshop, you can get a ~$100 card like 7600GT or 7800GS or ATI equivalent. Heck, you could probably get the cheaper 7600GS or 7300GT, but I wouldn't recommend those as if you happen to start playing games you'll find out they don't do you justice; it all comes down to how much you have to spend on the video card.

That should be good... Photoshop is a processor and memory hog. IMO, you can never have enough of either one for heavy Photoshopping. And I agree that you should pick up a decent graphics card too. I'd say the 7600GT is your best bet.

Also, why the aftermarket processor cooler? Are you planning to OC?

I guess it's OK to get an aftermarket cooler even if not overclocking. It can reduce overall temperature at any load and speed; plus summer is here so computers run a little hotter.

My mistake, I must not have clicked "add to cart".

I downgraded the motherboard and added in the video card I was checking out.

I could switch over to a GeForce but I have always preferred ATI.
