North Dakota.
Driving along the interstate in ND and got to thinking that spiderman would be a very limited superhero in ND, there is just nothing to swing from. Telephone poles? Sugar Beet piles? Actually while I love spiderman he seems to be just way to limited by the need to be in a metropolitan area such as NY or Tokeo. He couldn't make webs to hold bad guys till the cops showed up.
Of course Aquaman would be pretty worthless up here as well, he could summon somesort of large catfish or walleye but I don't think that will help fight the legion of doom.
For North Dakota, Manitoba...Flash would be good since one of his main rivals is Capt Cold or whatever.
What superhero would not work real well where you live?
(man wayyyyy to much sun today)

I dunno, I think wonderwoman wouldn't be to great in NY, 1) invisible plane where the heck do you land that? 2) her outfit--might be better now that Times Square is cleaned up but still doesn't she look like a patriotic hooker? 3) I think she is best suited for Washington DC ( her TRUTH ROPE)

dag man. its so ill you said that. i was telling my brother just the other day that spidey couldnt wing it in buff. there are not enough tall buildings. downtown is virtually non existant and he couldnt even save people unless it was the dreaded open air or mother nature. the perfect spot for him is the city that never sleeps. no city is quite like new york.

I'm thinking Manitoba would get stuck with Wendy Jan and Wonder Dog.

Aquaman, damn him- I can't think of anyplace in the entire world that would be best-served by having aquaman around. Maybe the island of Somoa, but even there just about any other superhero would be preferrable.

True, but those states would also all be better off with Superman, Batman, Ironman... anybody, really...
I mean, if a perpetrator is up to no good anywhere on dry land, isn't Aquaman pretty much S.O.L.??

Waterworld maybe.. Couldn't you just imagine Aquaman sitting in the theater watching WATERWORLD... just muttering to himself.. oooohyaaa then I'd show superman and all those other punks how great I am, then MAYBE i'd get a video game that wasn't the WORST of all time.

superman has x-ray vision though plus his fortress of solitude is pretty close to iceland.

Reminds me of the parody from the Simpson's, "Knight Boat"
"Oh no aquaman, the perps are getting away"
"Not just yet, look, a canal!"

Ah I must have screwed up superman's powers then, I thought for some reason he relied on the sun to get his power. Forget I even mentioned him hehe.

he does rely on the sun's 'yellow light' but night time doesn't seem to effect him. (SUperman 4 or whatever that crappy thing was had his nemisis strictly tied to the sun ((so if he went in an elevator he lost all power)

Not a real place, but the Green Lantern would be worthless in Springfield as everyone is yellow.

After watching spiderman 2 I have to update my theory as spiderman now has superstrength(where did that come from ) so he would do fine here in manitoba. Upon further reflection the worst super hero for manitoba would be.....Captain America. Nothing against the states but he is just uber patriotic and not meant for the great white north. Perhaps Canada's version of Captain America is Geddy Lee?

He has the proportional strength of a spider.
Although the thing I love is that these guys always get cut up by flying metal and scraping against buildings/cars at 150 MPH and their skin stays on their body. What, they have bulletproof skin thats superglued to their muscles?
And noone in the train is going to give Spiderman's persona away? In NYC? Give me a break, 3/4 of them would be running to cash in on the story 30 secs after they were rescued.
Just saw Hellboy, supercool use of his powers/persona. Del Toro is a genius director.

It's kind of like in DBZ, where they get hit with beams that are strong enough to destroy the world a 100 times over, yet their clothes only get torn.

He's always had superstrength, just not in the same class as guys like The Thing or Thor, nevermind the Hulk. In the very first Spider-man story he mangles a streetlight post before he realizes he's doing it. Think about it, if you're capable of leaping thirty feet in the air onto the side of a building, you've got some pretty heavy duty power in those muscles.
Sometime in the 80's when they did the first run of MArvel Universe guides, they worked out a strength rating system to allow classification of various characters. A comics geek paradise.

Spider-man is in the Class 10 range. Strong enough to utterly destroy any ordinary who doesn't have excellent defensive skills, and capable of tossing a car a few yards but not the sort who levels large buildings in the course of a fight.
The did have a storyline in the early 90's, IIRC, where Peter PArker was doing a lot of traveling for photographic assignments from a magazine published by J. Jonah Jameson's company. This seemed to be entirely for the purpose of getting Spider-man into unfamiliar environments. In one issue he met a construction worker who had been endowed with superpower after being bitten by a radioactive jackrabbit. The guy didn't become a superhero because he found the powers to be an embarassment but of course he rose to the occasion when needed.
For a while, at least, the MArvel Universe's equivalent of Captain America was the Guardian/Vindicator character created mostly by Canadian John Byrne.

I've never understood that either. In the early episodes, Vegeta and Nappa can destroy planets with relative ease. Attacks are fired off that are way more powerful than those in the later episodes, and nothing happens to the planet? And, none of the people getting hit by these take serious damage? (In most cases...) :?

The episode where they destroyed that Planet (Arlia I think) wasn't in the original Dragonball manga and is one of the reasons why many people don't like 'filler'. Most of the scenes like that in the DBZ anime just created more plot holes in the series.

The Wonder Twins would be a great asset to Aquaman, the one could turn into a lake of water anywhere in the world, while the other twin would become some sort of aquatic animal that Aquaman could control and uh, he could swim... and uh.. stab people with his arm... thing... Screw it. The Wonder Twins could work on their own. Aquaman is useless.
Also, the Planeteers (Captain Planet Kids) are sorely needed in Washington D.C., but wouldn't be very effective since they'd get the crap beat out of them for looking so queer/ethnically diverse.

Alpha Flight...any of them. They wouldn't do too well in our Southern States. Too hot for one, and their Canadian accent would present translation problems. Plus, who anywhere really cares about Canadian superheros save Wolvie?

Marvel Universe was sweet, especially for people that were into comics and that Marvel role-playing game (I forgot the name). I've been looking for a re-release but not very hard. Have they done anything similar in the years since the original series? I would think there would be demand...
