to start releasing "players choice" ds games? I mean c'mon, psp wasn't out for THAT long before they started to release "greatest hits" versions of the psp games, and nintendo has always released players choice version of games for all their recent consoles since the n64.
Do you think they'll even bother to release "players choice" games for the ds at all?

In about 2 years, if at all.

The problem is that a lot of titles have serious legs. Part of this is due to continuous tremendous hardware sales.
Mario Kart for instance, is for the time being, doing BETTER than the same time last year.

I don't know. This is really something that they need to fix though. The DS is fantastic system and my favorite handheld if not game system ever. But the PSP has been played more recently because its games can be had for $20 or less with coupons / sales etc. A nice lineup of sub-$20 would make the DS a fantastic purchase for anyone who doesn't have one already. And it would be great for those of us who do to check out some more B list games that can still be fun.

Nintendo isn't exactly hurting in terms of sales, and it seems like a Player's Choice line would be the kind of thing that would be used to invigorate sales.
It probably helps that the DS itself is still selling well, so people who are just coming to it are probably more willing to still play full retail price for 1st party games they want, at least consistently enough that sales aren't down enough to warrant price cuts.

Yeah. Player's Choice is nice for us and all, but it's just a tool to drive sales of games that have already peaked. Which doesn't seem to be happening for a lot of the best selling titles. I'm guessing eventually we'll see stuff like Advance Wars and Kirby go PC since they're pretty much out of print, but NSMB, Brain Age and the like will be selling ridiculously well without it for a while. PSP software doesn't exactly sell that great, hence "hey, it's cheaper, buy it now!"
How long did it take the GBA PC line to come out? 6 years?

I don't think they ever will, I mean a lot of the best titles right now are already selling for the $20 sweet spot that a player's choice title would, so it isn't really needed.
